This is True! On my way up I-85 now and saw literally 19-20 cops on I-85 pulling people over, specifically in Spartanburg county.

Yeah, I saw about 15 cops in about a 15 mile stretch on I-85 between GSP airport and Hwy 29. Got this email about it (below) -- remember it's 60 mph on the stretch between Gville and Sptbg, so watch your speed. They say they're looking for drugs & illegal weapons, but they'll take your money just the same for going 8-10 mph over the speed limit. (someone got pulled right in front of me last night - they couldn't have been going over 70).
>>>Subject: interstate driving in Sptbg Co. this week
Be careful if you have to use the interstates running through Spartanburg
County this week, as Rolling Thunder has returned. For those of you who
don't know, Rolling Thunder is what we call our massive interstate
interdiction effort that runs 1-2 times per year. We will likely have
anywhere from 50-100 cops (and maybe more) doing nothing but patrolling
I-85 and I-26 (mostly I-85) 24 hours a day from now until roughly lunchtime
on Friday. And, while you might normally not worry about your driving when
you see an officer from another jurisdiction, you need to pay attention
this week as those officers have been deputized by our Sheriff's Office and
are therefore able to pull you over. The officers will pull you over for
anything and everything in an effort to stop the movement of drugs and
weapons on the interstates for a week, so do your best to avoid even minor
traffic infractions. Although I can't guarantee it, you should have less
of a problem on other roads in the county, as the officers will primarily
focus on the interstates. Of course, other cops will still be working the
rest of the county as they normally do. I meant to let everyone know over
the weekend, but I forgot. In any event, watch your speed a little more
closely than you normally would this week, and try to avoid transporting
illegal weapons and drugs for a couple days.

Operation Rolling Thunder is what it is called and it is specifically targeting people 'suspected' of running drugs, reckless drivers, etc.
This is about the 3rd time Spartanburg has done it and the previous 2 times they did end up confiscating quite a large amount of drugs, weapons, and money. This week they even had a guy shoot back at them during 5 o'clock rush hour traffic which set off a manhunt. It's crazy...have to drive through it to work and home every day.

ummm just for info: they don't like being called cop/cop-per either which was intended in it's earlier day as a derogatory word... I think they more prefer Police Officer...
