A Masters unlike any other. What sadly began with Woods returned from a humiliating sex scandal and sex rehab, yet ended in tears for a true mans, Mr. Phil Mickelson and his wife and family. Woods who had cheated on his wife; Mickelson won for his wife. Also, find it odd that Wood's leaves golf for three months for sex rehab and Mickelson takes 3 months off to take care of his wife and mother after they both were diagnosed with breast cancer.
Phil, in my book, you will always be a bigger winner for what you've done outside the ropes. Putting your family first is what lifes about!

The 18th hole today was classic...what a ending.
Thats exactly what I said today , Phil was a true man when he took time off to be with his wife and family ........Tiger Woods ?? .......well there is really no words for him ..........he is a disgrace , he was very lucky to get the support he did from the gallery .

I feel for Mickelson for what he and his family are going through..but I have never liked him and did not want him to win, but he earned it.

I don't like him either and didn't want him to win, but as you said, disliking him as a golfer is inconsequential in light of what he and his family have been through.

This.
I'm glad Phil won and I'm so sick of hearing about Tiger and his cheating. Seems like a new woman comes out of the woodwork every week!

Mickelson & Woods is for the PGA, what Bird & Magic was for the NBA 25 years ago!
I just pray that Woods don't end up with the HIV after cheating on his wife like Magic did.
Clearly the BETTER MAN won today.

I think Phil's gotten a lot more like-able in the last few years. but it's the story lines that make golf so interesting:
felt great for Phil and his family, felt terrible for Westwood being so close, but so far... again, i was amazed that Tiger could finish in the top 5, and so on... another great Master's in the books.

mmhmm, you don't hear as many stories about him being an a-hole behind closed doors and that type of thing.

I think Phil respects the game of golf and its history. He doesn't tell the media that his car wreck and chipped tooth was as bad as Ben Hogans or anything

haha I love all the Tiger hate. I hope you guys know when this man comes back full time he will be unstoppable again...Congrats to Phil for winning it against all odds it's a great story. But everyone knows it's only a matter of time before the number one player in the world comes back and shows everyone why he is the number one player in the world.

Read through the threads about the tourny and you'll see 4 or 5 of the same people say "Well Phil is hated on tour"

So what Phil isn't liked by all is the world going to come to an end? Just because he did what he was supposed to do in life by loving his wife he should garner more respect on the golf course? I'll admit I'm a Tiger fan through and through but that doesn't mean I don't like others like Anthony Kim, Tom Watson, and Jim Furyk. It's just the only rivalry in golf really is Tiger Vs Phil.
I don't care about their personal lives all I care about is how they play golf because the rest isn't my concern if my favorite golfer has a rivalry with a guy of course I won't like him on the course.

Fair enough I guess. I don't like him when he golfs, but I have no opinion on his personal life, just as I have none with Tiger's.

I was pulling for Freddie over both of them. Just annoys me when people hang something over ones head when the other is as bad or worse. You don't get to where Tiger and Phil are with out stepping on toes.

Tiger's image and his "brand" is a part of his job. The cheating on his wife and sex scandals and voicemails and texts all lessened a lot of people's respect of Eldrick the man and to some even Eldrick the golfer. When you have major corporations paying you millions of dollars to be the face of their company and their advertising image, you have a responsiblity to also promote and live a decent moral and ethical way of life. That's why they put "morals clauses" in these contracts. Why did Tiger get these multi-million dollar endorsements? Because he is so freaking good at golf. He didn't have to take on the responsibility that went with upholding an image or brandmark when you also want to live a lifestyle that the company you represent would not condone. I was at the golf course everyday but one last week, and I have never seen E!, TMZ, Extra, and Entertainment Tonight at the Masters. If Tiger had kept his driver in his bag, none of this is ever even a topic or issue.

Yes and...
Yes, as a matter of fact he did. He misrepresented the image he gave to the public as an advertiser and endorser for the products in which the companies paid him millions to do. That's why Accenture, AT&T, and Gatorade dropped him completely and Gillette took him off their advertisements.
EDIT: He also "ceased his job" because he didn't play golf for over 5 months... Isn't playing golf also his "job"?

I get what you're going for and I agree somewhat I do think his sponsors had the right to drop him if they so pleased which they did. But that's still business. There's no reason in the world any normal American citizen who enjoys watching Tiger golf should know about his personal life.
Michelle Bidel from Sports Nation once said "I think we deserve to know why Tiger did what he did." That's the last time I watched that program because we have no right to know what Tiger did away from golf. (which I know is what you're saying so I'm agreeing.)

I agree completely. He has a right to have his vices, and his sponsors have a right to call him a bad investment.

I don't thick Clinton ever "fully recovered" from it; we all remember and occasionally call it up like you just did. I think there is a degree to it...
Slick Willy had a couple indescretions at work with an intern and a cigar which never even got to full blown actual sex...
Tiger has had upwards of 14 different misstresses that range from cocktail waitresses, strippers, and porn stars over a span of the last 2-3 years...
No one will ever forget the Bill/Monica story, and no one will ever forget how extreme the exploits of Tiger Woods escapades went.

boy, what a stupid comparison. tiger only took 9 weeks off after his father's death, that must mean he didnt really care about his father. he missed the cut in his first tournament back, but made the top 5 this time, maybe thats evidence that he isnt remorseful for his actions.
i hate to make a reply like this, i get it, cheaters never win. mickelson's win is obviously the better story than if tiger would have won, but theres no need for the ridiculous comparisons. is mickelson's story any better because tiger cheated on elin? is tiger cheating on his elin any more reprehensible because there was a player on tour who could have lost his wife to cancer? root against tiger if you will, but this is beyond going overboard.
