Unfortunately they're back again.
Im pretty certain I'm one of the very very few, but does anyone else out there completely despise the upcoming holidays?
I'm speaking of Thanksgiving and Christmas
I know everyone gets so excited and blah blah, but they are just dead depressing to me...anyone else?

The commercialization of these holidays is what causes me to to be less excited than most about them. They have no meaning anymore and are just another way for people to make to money.
Sneez you are not alone , I hate the holidays if it were not for my grandchildren I would sleep through the entire season !!!!!!!

As I get older I enjoy them more. But most of it has to do with that I only give a few gifts for just a few kids, put up limited decorations (the tree is a BIG deal with me though), and spend time with friends getting a drink from Starbucks and then riding around looking at Christmas lights (we have strict grading standards ).
I've made it as low stress and simple as possible.
It's the commercialization of the holidays that gets to me. It's a competition to see who and what can make the most money every year. Jesus is the Reason for the Season. I know that's said alot, but it IS true (at least from my Protestant perspective).

I just ignore all that stuff (commercialization) and enjoy the pretty lights and glittery decorations....
and The Chipmunks singing Christmas songs...

Yeah, I try to ignore it as well. I LOVE listening to Christmas music and already have my Christmas CDs loaded into the CD player in my car and at home.

Not me, I enjoy all of it! Just finished with Diwali. Got Turkey Day in sight. November is Native American Heritage Month and I have a bit of blood so I'll celebrate. We have Eid and Hanukkah coming up. The 17th is World Peace day. We have the Great American Smokeout on the 18th and I urge all of you who smoke to quit that day. We have shopping on Black Friday. The online equivalent on the following Monday. We have stuff happening all through December. Christmas is the biggie but we got everything from Ashura to Kwanza too. There is Solstice and New Years will be on tap. Super Bowl Sunday, national Signing day, and my birthday! Always a reason to party if you look hard enough. :cocky:
BTW, November is Aviation History Month. I hold a couple of records in ballooning. Not enough to touch my dad though. Here is his commendation on the 50th anniversary of manned flight. It was signed by Jimmy Doolittle.

Thanksgiving is normally one of my favorite holidays since it basically involves cooking, eating, and sleeping. This year it's my turn to host, so I'll be having 25-30 people to feed and my sister's demon children breaking everything in the house.

I love this time of year. Fall really kicks in with the leaves turning and falling, the time“falls back” getting that xtra hour of sleep back, and of course, the holidays. However, the holidays is a double edged sword for me. I enjoy the family traditions of each holiday from the meals to just being together, but the down side is work tends to get a little busier, and I'm still having a hard time adjusting to my mother not being there. She passed away last year, and just like last year, not having her here takes the edge of the excitement of the holidays, off a little bit. Anyway, let me be one of the first to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday Season, and be safe, and responsible in all of your endeavors this season, and don't forget to pray for those that are less fortunate than ourselves during this time.

Soooooo excited for thanksgiving. A day off from work, football all day, pretty much 6 meals the way I do it, food coma from about 10 pm til Bama kicks off on friday. Christmas should be fun as well since I am taking off the last 2 weeks of the year, going up to see the relatives who I haven't seen in well over a year and my brother comes back from a semester in spain.

I don't like it because I know I will be working. It also means football season is winding down.
Bad traffic, people bowling over others in stores, bitchy customers,...But as a whole, it's tolerable to spend the time eating and enjoying family and friends.
I like watching holiday fare like It's a Wonderful Life, Die Hard, It's a Charlie Brown Christmas, A Christmas Carol...etc..
I have been in some very shitty places for previous Christmases and Thanksgivings and it also seems like each holiday season I am reminded of how many people are not alive to share it with me...
I have conflicting feelings about the holiday season and usually look more forward to the start of the new year...
BTW everyone...if you plan on hitting the gym next year, now is the perfect time to start going because right now everyone else is runnign around and worried about the holidays....they are eating tons of food and packing on the pounds......use this time to go into the gym and get familiar with the equipment and fall into a good routine...the gyms should be relatively empty at this point, however, by the time the gyms start overflowing in early January, you will not have the headache of wondering around the gym with pen, paper and trying to find where the weights you need are...let them play around with the lighter weights....
