James says #SCarolina (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23SCarolina) has recruited him the longest. #WVirginia (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23WVirginia) and #ND (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23ND) recruiting him the hardest. No top group/leaders right now

Brownell scouting junior big man Tuesday

By Phil Kornblut

Earlier Tuedsday Brownell met for about 15 minutes with 6-3 point guard Chris Colvin of Palm Beach JC, FL. "It was a nice visit, very business like," said Palm Beach coach Butch Estes. "He laid out the roster and talked to him about his opportunities. He wants him to come up for a visit after the season. He made a good impression." Colvin actually was at Clemson's game last Sunday at Miami. Colvin also has offers from Illinois, Cal, Arizona State, Miami, South Florida, West Virginia, Rutgers, Georgia and Tennessee. Brownell and Bruce Weber of Illinois have been the only head coaches to visit with Colvin so far.

I'd love to add this guy. Hopefully he gives us serious consideration. I know Horn likes more athletic type players, but we could use at least one big guy like this in the paint.

Clemson, USC among offers for Florida big man

By Phil Kornblut

Center Joell James (6-10 285) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL was part of a state championship team this season averaging 9 points and 7 rebounds per game. "I'm very aggressive and I sprint the floor," James said. "I never take a play off and I'm a hard worker. And I can move somone out of the way and score." James said he's basically a back to the basket center with a good drop step and jump hook. He has offers from Clemson, USC, Miami, West Virginia, Florida and Florida State. He's also hearing from Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Wake Forest and Maryland. He does not have favorites and has not taken any visits. "I plan to visit South Carolina, Clemson, Wake Forest and the Florida schools," James said. James said he has no special feeling for any of the schools and didn't grow up rooting for any particular school. He said he probably won't make a decision until next spring.

Now that Ramon is no longer part of the team, does that hurt our chances with Joell?

Joell James (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/115933/joell-james) (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./ Dwyer)
2012, C, 6-9, 250 pounds

He is a big-bodied, low-post player who uses his bulk and girth.to gain an advantage inside. In the post, James is able to perform an assortment of moves. His low-post skills are developing and his left-handed touch inside with deep position is hard to stop and if opponents gives him enough space, he can hit a jump shot. James also uses fakes to get defenders off balance and will power through defenders to avoid a blocked shot. In transition, he finds open teammates cutting or spotting up and overall is a highly-coveted prospect considering Miami, West Virginia and Florida, among others.

I doubt it Helps. But I remember reading the coach at the HS saying Horn is still welcome back, so no ill will from the HS. To me this means Horn is straight up with players which I am sure they appreciate. He could have just not said anything to Ramon and demoted him and then Ramon would have wasted next year.

Cutting Galloway was a terrible idea and pretty much cost us any chance to get James.
