i dunno ... haven't really worked on this that much ... i had it before but was too comfortable with gimp to really mess with it ... then i tried to download Gimp again earlier today and it was going to make me download something else to download it ... so i was like naaaaaaah and went back to this site and downloaded it

yeah, you have to dl a run environment for gimp. It is a one time thing but it can be a pain to install for a regular joe.
I personally just use photo shop... but it can get a little pricey.

I have not used the photo software from Serif but I have used the free version of Serif Draw and it's pretty good. I prefer Corel, but there are a few things that I can do on Serif that I can't do on Corel. The only catch is that Serif offers their older versions of their software for free to entice you to buy the new model. Usually at a pretty good price, but probably will email you with those types of offers. Seri (http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/)f also offers web and desk publishing softerware.

Cack,
Thanks dude. I downloaded it about two days ago and I'm having a blast.
When it comes to this photo stuff I'm completely in the dark but I'm having fun playing with it. If you get a chance, could you drop me a pm and explain how to get the images from one photo to the next. I can manipulate one image and modify it, but I don't know a darn thing about the rest.

to take an image from one to another ... just go up to EDIT ... then click on copy ... then bring up the image you want to put it on ... and go back to EDIT ... and click on paste ... it'll give you 2 options ... do pastes as a new LAYER
if you need anything else just PM me

Let me know if you figure it out. I set on image as a background or layer, but can't get another out of the layer tool screen to my first image.
I did that Cack but it puts it in the layer tool box and I can't get the image onto the screen.

I found a photoshop disk my uncle had before he passed away but it ask me for a product code before it will let me install it. Can't find it anywhere. Anyone know a way around this or have a code that may work? Thanks in advance for helping to support illegal software piracy!!

Ok, I downloaded it, but I'm having some trouble understanding it. I don't work today, so I am going to sit here and read all of the trouble-shooters. Maybe that will help. If it doesn't, do you have any pointers cack? (especially having to do with selecting part of the image and moving it). Thanks.

OK, so let's do this. If you find/ know of any free online photo editing sites THAT DON'T SUCK, post the links here in this thread and we'll put them up here so we can all use the ones we like.

This is a web site I found that I thought some of you might enjoy. It is called pixer and allows you to edit your photos from your web browser. When you finish editing, save them to your computer using any format you like.

Hope you guys like it.

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, PICASA also works pretty well. It was recently bought by Google and offers organization and photo editting. This is also free to use.

There is now a browser-based FREE version of Photoshop. This is provided by Adobe and 100% legal.
:D

It's nothing like what you get w/ the real thing, but I thought it was still neat. Good for editing quick stuff w/o having to boot up PS.

PICASA is one I heard about a few months ago that is supposed to be pretty good. I'm still using Photoshop Elements that I bought in 2005. I'm comfortable with the program and know where most all of the tools are. I Think about trying one of these free versions just to see what they're like, but I guess I'm just stuck in my ways.
I think most new computers you buy today have a version of Photoshop Elements on them also. The ones I'm looking at all come with a program called Adobe Elements. I would say this is probably similar to what I'm using now.
