What's going on with the advertiser boycott and why did Spurrier already give in on moron. I live in NC and cannot find anything about this on the net. How is the state still in business, stimulus money?

So apparently businesses are boycotting the state because of the coverage or lack there of of USC football. Assssss for Moron, SOS let him have it over his supposed recruitment of Ellington away from the bball team. Kinda well timed though because it was the day that Garcia was dismissed leading us all to believe that SOS took the bullet "persay" to get Garcia out of Columbia before media got ahold of him.

yea, saw that..thats why I love that SOS..
I sent electronic correspondence to the state indicating I was boycotting the paper and anyone who advertised with them. They never even responded to my message.
THE STATE NEWSPAPER SUCKS
These boycott deals are always so silly.
Not only do the people who claim they will never read the paper again keep reading the paper but they also still go to all the business's they are "boycotting". The threats are hollow and the crap newspaper knows it. I bet they get a big laugh out of that nonsense.

So as per my question it seems this is basically a non-starter or is The State suffering for it. I know its a liberal rag which caused the most damage but how is this affecting the bottom line. Sorry liberals no offense intended but the paper does have a slant.

I don't think it's wise to try to silence voices you don't agree with. It leaves you basically hearing only perspectives you want to hear - which, believe it or not, could conceivably be wrong.

Did our AD tell him to before or after MoRon and the Post and Courier took a jab at SOS this week about his lack of developing QB's. Our AD just gave the press an open door to say whatever w/out letting SOS or anyone on the staff defend it.

The what and the who??
If I was Ron Morris, I would show up at every presser with a differnt cheap disguis. (Glasses with fake nose and mustach type deal)...Break the ice with a bit of humor...If I was SOS, I would adress Ron as the, "Stranger or New Guy sitting over there."
I have to say this is the United States of America. We may not agree with Ron Morris, but he has the right to publish anything he desires. We have the right not to read it, and SOS has right to retort...

Totally agree, except he has the right to say anything or write anything but as far as publish he needs someone or his own money to publish or a business to agree to publish it, if i write a commentary to the paper or anywhere else i don't have the right to have it published, I have the right to say and write it but no one has to listen or publish it.
but and the first part would be funny..

What most folks feel is that, yes, he has a right to his opinion, but not his agenda. It's the agenda people rail about.

Newspapers in general are selling an obsolete product. moron is a weasel of a little man with an agenda to cast negativity over anything Gamecock. He's doing his job though in attracting attention. I left gg.com because of this and haven't been back to the site. I honestly don't think I've been influenced in any way by any newspaper advertisers because I rarely read any of them. Too many other ways to get news quicker and to find the goods and services you need. The same stands for the P&C, AJC, Charlotte Observer, Gvle news. The only exception I make is Goupstate.com and that's generally for the local HS sports updates and the mugshots section.
"I know its a liberal rag which caused the most damage but how is this affecting the bottom line. Sorry liberals no offense intended but the paper does have a slant"
So, corporations who own companys dependant on corporate/small business advertising are liberal? I'm sure you have lots of proof for this idiocy? As usual, you offer up a objective opinion as subjective fact. Zzzzzzz
Really pisses me off to have some moron post his half-baked political crap on a sports/fan site. Especially when there are other forums for that. I come here to get away from that nonsense.

Get over yourself, I was asking about Gamecock issues and my opinion on the state is fact! Anyone who does not see it is not looking. But I digress, not intended to be a political discussion or a name calling session thank you very much. The question still stands, does anyone with "inside info" know if this is affecting the bottom line? As for Kuhn if your gonna be offended and nonsesical just don't read this thread.
nonsesical? opinions aren't facts. sorry.
my opinion is ron morris is scum and I would knock is teeth out given the chance. but my opinion isn't fact.

The State has always used negative reporting to draw interest to their coverage of Carolina, & I am no conspiracy theorist, even Clemson fans will admit as much. But there is recourse these days, years ago they were in a win win. Write a negative story about USC, the Carolina fans read & get pissed, the Clemson & UGA, UNC, UT etc.. fans read to get a chuckle & talk sh*t. Now aday's there are other resources, you have other media outlets to get your Gamecock fix. My entire family & most Carolina fans I know stopped taking the state several years ago because of the sports coverage, mainly football. I have not clicked on their web site in 2 years, if you truly want to make a statement, ignore those chumps, & talk other Gamecocks into doing the same. Personally, unless changes were made from top to bottom at the state, I will never read another word they print.

Gamecocks’ defense among nation’s best

It is the kind of defensive play that wins championships and precisely why USC is in the driver’s seat for the SEC Eastern Division title while Alabama and LSU play Saturday for the Western Division crown.
