USC basketball coach Frank Martin has one seven-footer in the fold for the 2012 class and is working another one. Jordan Dickerson is actually 7-1, and a source said Tuesday the Gamecocks have a 50-50 shot at landing him. Dickerson attends the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. He is from Brooklyn where he played at Abraham Lincoln High School. He is close friends with USC commitment Thaddeus Hall. Villanova and Georgetown are two other schools showing interest according to the source. Dickerson's coach at IMG said he's not a finished product but has some offensive skills and gets better daily. He added that Dickerson is a good help defender and shot blocker.

I would love to see us have two 7 footers on the court at the same time. That would be worth the price of a ticket!

7-1 center Jordan Dickerson of Brooklyn said Wednesday night he recently received a qualifying ACT score and can now begin to set up official visits. And he said USC will be right in the mix. “I'm definitely giving South Carolina consideration,” he said. “They are one of my top picks for a visit. I talked to Coach Martin a couple of days ago. He said there is a scholarship there for me.” Dickerson said he probably will start taking visits in a couple of weekends. “I'm looking for a school that can develop me and is the best fit for me,” said Dickerson who attends the IMG Academy in Florida. Providence, Dayton, VCU, Florida State and Georgetown are other schools he has heard from. He wants to take some visits before he makes a decision. Last season Dickerson said he averaged 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks per game.

Hey, if he can give us a double-double of 10-10 a night, that will be just fine with me.

10-10 a night from a freshman would be a welcomed addition, that's for sure. Hope we're able to land this guy.

Also, am I the only one who sees themselves accidentally calling this guy JOSH Dickerson quite frequently? I guess the fact that the last names are the same and first names start with the same letter could be a reason.

7-1 center Jordan Dickerson of Alexandria, VA will make an official visit to Providence this weekend. Dickerson currently attends the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL and is being recruited by USC. His uncle told the New York Post Dickerson will make at least two other official visits before making his decision. He did not identify those other visits. Dickerson also ha offers from Auburn, Dayton, DePaul, South Florida, and VCU. He's also drawn interest from St. John's, Arkansas and Florida State. Dickerson attended two years of high school at Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and is close friends with USC commitment Thaddeus Hall. Interest in him spiked recently after he earned a qualifying test score.

Some pretty good offers and interest in that list in Providence, VCU, Depaul, Dayton, St. John's and FSU.
Hopefully Martin can get this kid in for a visit and get us another big-body post player.

Dickerson names a favorite

By Phil Kornblut

7-1 Jordan Dickerson of Brooklyn said Wednesday night Providence is his current favorite. “They seem most interested,” Dickerson said. “I like how they play. That's where I'm sort of leaning, but I'm not saying that's my final (decision).” Dickerson, who attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, is going to New York this weekend for a tournament and said he will visit Providence next week. He's not scheduled any other visits but said he's considering taking one to South Carolina. “I spoke with Coach (Frank) Martin last week,” Dickerson said. “He's telling me he still had a spot open for me.” Dickerson also has offers from Auburn, Dayton, DePaul and VCU. He'd like to make his decision before June.

Danny Traylor I think was 7'0" or 7'1".

I've been waiting on big men to guard the basket, block shots and score when needed. Just hope he and the other 7 footer can shoot free throws at least 60-65%. 70-75% would be better. It is nice to have some trees finally. I'll be going to games this season!

Danny Traylor I think was 7'0" or 7'1".

I remember watching when I was a kid that it was cool that we could put in a front line at the same time that had:

Tom Owens : 6'10"

Tom Riker : 6'11"

Danny Traylor : 7'0"

Doesn't mean that it will stay this way to the end, but that's the best, most recent info we have on who his favorite is....

Dickerson wraps up USC visit

By Phil Kornblut
7-1 Jordan Dickerson of Alexandria, VA wrapped up his official visit at USC Tuesday. The visit went well but Dickerson is not close on a decision. "He liked it, it was cool," Dickerson's uncle Darrell Crawford said. Crawford was with Dickerson on the visit. "We went to the baseball game (Sunday) and saw the arena. The baseball game was loud." Crawford said they watched the Gamecock players work out and talked with Frank Martin about how Dickerson would fit in. "He said the ball will go into to him on offense and defense," Crawford said. "The ball will go inside-outside. They will go into him everytime." Dickerson also has visited Providence, and his uncle said they are considering visits to Auburn and St. Johns. "St. Johns is hard on our list right now," Crawford said. Dickerson has tournaments in Milwaukee and Las Vegas coming up, so that will delay the decision process. "We're going to go home and sit back and think about the visits so far," Crawford said. "I want him to take another visit so he'll have something to compare." There is no date set for a decision.
