Pictures/Report from MSU Road Trip

Here are a few pictures from the game. The road trip down to Starkville was not bad at all, except driving through Atlanta, which is a deathtrap. We stopped in Tuscaloosa for lunch at Dreamland BBQ. The sauce was a wonderful tomato/vinegar base. I give it 4 stars.

The MSU campus was interesting and very spread out. "Rural" does not even begin to describe Starkville and the campus. We were about 1 mile from the stadium before we saw signs of civilization other than fields. The MSU fans are going to be awe-struck when they see the industrial area surrounding Williams-Brice next year.

Spoke to Doom and Co. on the phone during the tailgating. They were way on the other side of the stadium, so we both decided that drinking beer would be a better way to spend time rather than walking around.

As for the game, you saw that on TV.

After the game, we decided to hang out by the USC buses to catch a glimpse of the players. We were so close to Sidney Rice, we could have helped him put his athletic bag underneath the bus! Also, the players wore coats and ties. Very classy. Some of the guys also had some spiffy USC lapel pins.

I took ahunert and fifty or so pix just to get a few useable. I really love that big zoom capability but it generally results in big smear for me at a game

We filled up a whole section of the stadium from about the 10 yardline to the end of the stadium. I'm not sure about an official headcount, but from what I've heard the USC numbers were somewhere in the 4,000-5,000 range.

We went to Waffle House after the game, and EVERYONE was a USC fan. It was literally a Waffle House packed with USC fans.

thats how it was after the Tenn game last year in knox. we went into this pizza place and it was all usc fans. it was one of the best parts of the trip.:thumbsup:

unfortunately a large percentage of the fans at the game were older fans who weren't too much into the whole cheering thing...We had impressive numbers for a game that far away from Columbia, but we weren't all that impressively loud, in my opinion...

interesting note, they reserved seats for the band, which didn't come, so the group I was with moved down after the start of the game and good much better seats than we originally had...

so if you are going to the away games, you might be able to do what we did and get seats close to the field on less important away games (i'm thinking UK and possibly Vandy...)

No, it's just the sunshine coming from that angle. There were definately railings on the ramps.

Regarding the band seats, I never saw any vacant seats where the band was supposed to be, but more power to you for getting up close!
