Anyone have a video of the game available? I can DVR from CSS later this week but their feed is grainy compared to ESPN feed.
I am trying to make a DVD for father-in-law and I want to take the ESPN game and superimpose the radio broadcast (Todd Ellis) on top of it.
Thanks.

Instead of burning DVDs for everyone who has PMd, what if I save it as an ISO file and upload it? Do you guys have a disc writer on your computer to where you can put the ISO on a DVD? An ISO file is a generic disc image file that is readable by any standard writing software, such as Sonic MyDVD or Nero, etc.

I concur, that would be great. My only question would be the size and quality of the file. If you post an iso will it be of DVD quality?

I burn straight from digital cable to DVD on the highest compression/quality setting. Split the halves into two DVDs. The ISOs would be made straight from those DVDs. Quality would be the same.

Well, there is always http://torrentspy.com/. That's a pretty good site. And http://www.isohunt.com/.
And since Clemson was involved in the game, you could always join http://www.accvideos.com/ and upload it there. :)
And as someone else mentioned... use uTorrent. It's a good program.

The big thing about bit torrent is once you seed a file and others download it, subsequent downloaders pull from all the people who have already downloaded it as well as the initial download. As long as we are unselfish about sharing the files we download, we should all be able to download the files pretty quickly. If a few people for each game leave the files seeded, we should be able to have a library available for download eventually.
This is an awesome idea.

Good to see this idea resurface. I tried to get this going on another Gamecock board a few years back.
If someone can get me the files, I can host them. I have a sparingly used server available. I also have a few other methods that I use to share movies, games and other stuff. (rapidshare, newsgroups)
It would really be better if we could do a dvd-rip to get these down to a managable size. Most movies are shared in 700 MB files. (Fit on a standard cd) Football games are longer, so maybe get these down to 2 700 mb files.
If someone can just get me the files, I can get this hosted.
If you guys would prefer bittorrent, I will also be happy to help seed.
horseshoefootball
12-04-2006, 04:30 PM
I would prefer the just hosting method...it would take longer, but as far as I know, the university blocks torrents, so I couldn't get it, and that would make me very sad...
then again, if some of you know how to get torrents to work in on-campus housing, I'd be glad to learn how to set it up...I run on a macbook, if that matters...
anyways, hope this gets up and going.

Excellent - I've been trying to burn the game since it happened. Ended up ordering a new burner for the computer which should be here tomorrow. CH, if I just pull the ISO up in NeroBurningROM or NeroVision it will easily burn video/audio straight from it?
I have it saved as a .wmv file right now - size is around 4 or 5 GB IIRC. Also have the HD feed saved on my DVR, but no way to record in HD that I'm aware of presently.

If you have the game in HD on your DVR you can at the very least record it in widescreen 480i to a DVD. Not HD but at least you can zoom in and fill your HD screen without any distortion.

Like penngamecock, I am very experienced at Bittorrent. I'm an avid file-sharer.
I can help seed from a high speed connection. I can also do some limited direct downloads from one of my 3 under-utilized web servers.
If anyone can upload the files via ftp, I can get this going immediately. (Not just for the Clemson game, but for all games anyone has a digital copy of and can upload the files to a web server via ftp.)

Torrents--Making a torrenthttp://support.bittorrent.com/rnt/rnw/img/trnsp.gif Question How do you make a torrent?http://support.bittorrent.com/rnt/rnw/img/trnsp.gif Answer It's really easy. Here's how you do it:
Launch the BitTorrent client.
Go to File--Make New Torrent.
Select the file or directory of files you wish to publish in the window that comes up. Name the torrent and add any comments you like to describe it.
Select a block size to break the file into. You can also just leave it on Auto.
Enter the name of the tracker you wish to use to manage the torrent, or specify DHT for trackerless torrents.
Finally, click Publish. The torrent file will be created, and the file will begin seeding. That's all there is to it.

OK i feel stupid now, I had to get a friend to refresh my memory. What you have to do is publish the torrent file like you would publish any other file on the web. When we the downloaders download that file, our bittorrent clients use that file to download the file from your bittorrent client (and any one else who has that file published in their client).

Blitzer

The torrent file is not the actual file. The torrent contains the information about the file that the bit torrent client use to go out and download it. If you open the torrent file with a bit torrent client the download of the file will begin provided there are clients online with the file seeded.
The file CH is in the process of making available for download is an ISO file. It is an image file that you will need Nero or some other DVD burning program to burn the image to DVD.

That is correct. You do, however, need to upload the torrent file to a torrent tracker for it to work.
(Unless you made a trackerless torrent. Using a tracker is better so that you can tell how many seeders/leechers there are at any given time.)

I think the AnyDVD line of software is also good, but I've never personally used it, so I can't say for sure. Another worth mentioning is Roxio.

You probably need to download Divx to get the Divx codec which usually fixs video problems.

Somebody give it a shot and see if it works.
Cool. Thanks for the torrent.
Getting "Download failed" error with TorrentFlux on my servers and at home with BitTornado, getting the error message: Problem connecting to tracker - 11001, ('getaddr info failed')
I'll try again later, the tracker might just be down or having trouble.

Haha, don't worry, what I'll do is edit the commercials while I record to DVD, then I rip the DVD's, and I sleep while they encode (usually about 8 hours for all four quarters) :D

Ok all, got the game transferred to PC and it finished encoding sometime around 8PM last night. As of the time I left for work (around midnight) I had about 30% of the 1st quarter and 31% of the second quarter uploaded to usc_gamecock's web server. The first two quarters should be done in about 4/5 hours, and then it will automatically start the 3rd/4th quarters. Those should finish uploading to his servers a little after lunchtime today (20th)
Once that's done he'll need to pack them up and get it torrented/uploaded to rapidshare for all of you guys to DL. Make sure you give us some major points, I lost 3 hours of sleep today! :D
All worth it though, hopefully we'll get some kickass videos from you creative folks, and we'll make cockytalk that much COOLER with a digital library of games!

We hope to, I think I'm going to take a break until the bowl game, after which I'll get that one put up, and then begin getting other games ready for DL. I have MSU, GA, AUB, UK, TENN, FLA, and MTSU still left to upload. But we'll worry about those games during the "dead" period :D

Yeah, the router is real important lol. When I first got on the Btorrent scene, I was downloading at rather slow speeds, and never could figure out why. After I set up my router correctly, it's been flying !

Not a bad idea, but you'll lose some quality. Make sure you download the latest codecs for WMV too, it will make for better compression/quality ratios I bet.

Forgot to mention, I encoded the game in DivX this time instead of XviD, and I also encoded them with a CBR (constant bit rate) of 128kbps. This should help any syncing issues that might arise.

It would take a LOT of bandwidth and a lot of disk space. Since none of us (that I know of) are hosting porn sites, we will have to stick to what we are doing. Strength in numbers- or in this case Speed in numbers.

I'm actually working on something like that. Just trying to figure out the details. I have vastly underutilized server resources at my disposal. It'll have to be a private thing or a maybe membership-type deal, but I'm working on it. Also probably something we'll have to do behind-the-scenes via private message...

is the 2006 clemson game going to be iso files so we can burn to dvd as was stated at the beginning?
The game that usc_gamecock and I are currently getting ready for download is a collection of .avi files. Each file is 700mb and is one quarter of the game with out commercials. don't think it'd be too hard to put them on a playable DVD, but I have yet to find the software that can do that without skipping on me. If you have a DVD player that is compatible with DivX and/or XviD, you can pop the DVD containing the 4 files straight into the DVD player and they will play.
During the next few weeks, I'll look at possibly finding a good software solution that will allow me to put all 4 quarters on a DVD that will play in standard DVD players, after that we can the .iso uploaded with out a problem. I had tried using some software before to make a playable DVD with the Auburn game, but it kept skipping around. It'd be 1st & 10, and then the sound would skip, then all of the sudden it'd be 2~3 minutes later in the game, and it'd be 3rd & 4 or something like that. It's not the disks, either, because I tried several brands.
This is a time consuming deal, and we'll get it all worked out. But for now you should see the 2006 Clemson/Carolina game availible for download soon, and you can at least watch it on your PC. You'll have to find out from him, but I think GapoGamecock51 was going to compile all 4 quarters into a watchable VCD or DVD.

There are two ways to DL' this game right now. You can download through "bittorrent' or "rapidshare"
Here is the Bit Torrent link: http://www.cockytalk.com/showthread.php?t=26581
Here is the rapidshare link:
http://www.cockytalk.com/showthread.php?t=27192
If you don't know how to use bittorrent and/or rapidshare, check out usc_gamecock's help sites here:
Bittorrent (http://www.cockytalk.com/showthread.php?t=28398)
Rapidshare (http://gamecockvideo.info/faq/rapidshare.html)
The files are video files that you can play back on your computer and some newer Phillips DVD players will also play them back on your TV. You might have to send "usc_gamecock" to find out for sure, but I don't know that there is a ready-made DVD file for this game.
Hope this helps.
