ok sign up in this thread if you are going to play for the LOWER STATE in the CockyTalk Board Bowl ... it will be on Janurary 14th (the Sunday after the National Title game) ... flag football ... and flag football rules (well get copies of those as soon as we can) ... also we will need Captains for the team (that's between ya'll) ... just like 2 or 3 ... your colors are White ... must wear white shirts (numbers don't matter unless you just want them)

post your position you'd like to play ... AND the one you'd be best at (no not always the same one)

MUST BE A MEMEBER OF COCKYTALK TO PLAY

post count doesn't matter but must be signed up before tomorrow

NO RECRUITS OR PLAYERS (we don't want anyone getting hurt and it being CockyTalk's fault)

RULES

7 on 7 (or 8 on 8)
4, 10 min quarters
OT – 2 min quarters
Time will be set as “old” NCAA rules (clock doesn’t automatically start)

3 Time Outs per half

Illegal Equipment
a. Headwear containing any hard, unyielding, stiff material, including billed hats or items containing exposed knots.
b. Jewelry.
*Exception – medically related bracelets and necklaces.
c. Pads or braces worn above the waist.
d. Shoes with metal, ceramic, screw-in or detachable cleats. (plastic cleats are ok)
e. Any hood on a jacket, sweatshirt or shirt that does not remain tucked in.
f. Leg and knee braces made of hard, unyielding material, unless covered on both sides and all edges with at least ½” of slow recovery rubber or similar material.
g. Towels attached at the player’s waist.

Illegal Contact
a. Contact to the manhood
b. No face contact



Minimum Line Players
The offensive team must have at least three (four if 8 on 8) players on their scrimmage line at the snap. The remaining players may either be on the scrimmage line or in the backfield. The player in motion is not counted as one of the required players on the line.

Motion
One offensive player may be in motion, but not in motion toward the opponent’s goal line at the snap. Other offensive players must be stationary in their positions without movement of the feet, body, head or arms.

Shift
In a snap preceded by a huddle or a shift, all offensive players must come to a complete stop and remain stationary in legal position without movement of the feet, body, head or arms for at least 1 full second before the snap.

Blocking
You may NOT use your arms or hands to block on the line. You may have your arms bent and extended but can not push with them. You may not use forceful contact in a manner of pushing the other away or backwards.

Rushing/Blitzing
You may ONLY Blitz/Rush a max of 4 players at 1 time.

Guarding the Flag Belt
Runners shall not flag guard by using the hands, arms or the ball to deny the opportunity for an opponent to pull or remove the flag belt. Flag guarding includes:
A. Swinging the hand or arm over the flag belt to prevent an opponent from deflagging.
B. Placing the ball in possession over the flag belt to prevent an opponent from deflagging.
C. Lowering the shoulders in such a manner which places the arm over the flag belt.
NO STIFF ARMS PERIOD
The defensive player shall not hold, grasp or obstruct the forward progress of a runner when in the act of removing the flag belt or making a legal tag.

Flag Belt Removal
A. Players must have possession of the ball before they can be legally deflagged by an opponent.
B. When a runner loses his/her flag belt either accidentally, inadvertently (not removed by grabbing or pulling) or on purpose, play continues. The deflagging reverts to a 1 hand tag of the runner.
C. In circumstances where the flag belt is removed illegally, play should continue with the option of the penalty or the play.
D. An opponent intentionally pulling a flag belt from an offensive player without the ball is illegal.
E. Tampering with a flag belt in any way to gain an advantage including tying, using foreign materials or other such acts is illegal.

No problem. I can take a DE spot on defense because I'm quick. Use me at RB or as a blocker on O if you want.


For my intramural team, I was a rush end in a Cover 2 defense, and on offense lined up with the QB in the shotgun and blocked. We ran the option and threw screens a lot, but blocking is not hard in flag football. So I'm down for whatever you guys want me to do.

Cack's rules appear to be the same as USC's, so to block, basically just keep your hands behind your back and just get in the way without slamming them. A little contact usually won't get flagged, but if you lower the shoulder, you're in trouble. Flopping usually gets 15 free yards. :lol:

we have wayyy to many wr/db people...we put you on the line, OL and DL...in flag football you dont have to be big to block...you just get in the way of people. But we will have a kind of postion tryout at the first practice, so if we can't afford to NOT have you as a WR, we'll know. If you're a lineman, you'll play both ways, and get a lot of pt, so it will be fun...plus on the defensive side you can rack up sacks.

I am a USC student, so today i am gonna go by the blatt and the strom and just see what the rules are for using the fields at either place. also, i think we should do like Upper state is doing and have practices everyweek (or so) and you must attend at least 1 practice to be granteed playing time on the big game. (which sounds totally fair). Once i find out field info. i will put together a date(s) for practice. i would go ahead and say that we will start next saturday (the 16th) since us USC students will be done with finials and will not have to worry about that..

I think you need to annouce it becuase the Lower state is tremondous- alot of the players are from the midlands- but then there are coastal guys and GA guys and all (not that we dont want them- :thumbsup: ) but it would greatly reduce the size of our team and make it easier to pratice and more mangageable. i say we have upper, mid, coastal. set a practice day. unless the captain is notified by pm that a player can't make the first practice, only those that show up (or notify) can play. teams (and the number needed) can be decided based on the people that show up. in reality....there's no way to know until there are some definitive guidelines set.

just like HS ball...if you want to play you have to put in the effort to make the team.
