Old thread closed. New Version 2.0 started to add Rice and Bethea.
For this position, we are going to vote for two players. So, I am going to let you vote for mutliple choices. If I missed someone, or if you vote "other", please list your choice.
Remember that you can vote for more than one. We will select the top Two.
Just an FYI - Phil Logan and Horace Smith dropped off the list to add Bethea and Rice. They were our bottom two in the first poll and only had 5 and 3 votes over the last year.

Would have to go with Sterling and Sidney...although Brian Scott is still number 1 in my book. I'll never forget The Catch.

I would have voted for Sterling but I'm not old enought to remember him as a gamecock so I voted for Brooks and Rice.

It has to be Sharpe and Brooks. Both were great WRs for their entire careers. Sidney may very well go on to be better than both, but as great as he was the last two seasons, I don't think he is in the class of the other two. Ask yourself this question. If Sharpe and Brooks had played in this offense under the Ole Ball Coach, how much better would their already outstanding numbers be? JMO

Brooks and Sharpe, hands down. If anyone saw the acrobatic catches Brooks had in his career, you would not exclude him. Anyone recall his one-handed TD catch in the '88 UGA game? Add to the fact that he and Sharpe both had stellar pro careers and you have the two best right there.
Sidney may eventually prove to be better than Brooks, but he has to prove his worth at the pro level like Brooks did before I anoint him one of the two best.

I am too young to remember Zeiglar...
Brooks and Sharpe...hands down.
Sid is good...he didn't contribute what those two did to our program in my lifetime...(I am going to look this Zeiglar up though...have heard his name many times throughout the years...)
If we were voting on talent alone, the winner would be Ryan Bethea...My goodness, what could have been??? He like trouble...and trouble liked him...and he paid for that relationship, and so have we. Brooks and Sharpe would be second on that list with Rice coming in fourth.
By far the most dangerous duo that we ever...and I do mean ever possessed in the Garnet and Black were Sharpe and Bethea. Doesn't Poole fit in close here...and why isn't Eric Poole on that list??? He still holds several records for us.
But for those that missed Bethea...he was a speedster...lightening fast...and he had sure, steady hands...hands that got him into more trouble than not...but another story for another time. You had to be paying attention, but for a short while back in the 80's, he and Sterling were it...and Sterling was probably #2 in that duo...but, Sterling had his head screwed on straight enough to persevere. The ol' 1, 2 punch...
I like Rice...and I am not upset at his leaving, but I am thinking that this poll is for all time contributions at this position...and he just doesn't have it with only two years under his belt. If it is talent that we are to judge here...he is great and scores much better...but Ryan Bethea is the most talented that we have ever had...

Sharpe & Brooks.
Rice and Sharpe for their yardage and TD's. Freddie would make it if asked for three WR's. He would have been All-American if he had a little speed, but was notoriously slow. Even so, he had the ability to get open and much like Rice, if he could touch the ball, he caught it. Great player.

Ryan Bethea had the tools to be incedible. Bethea and Sharpe were a deadly combination on the field. I hate he could not stay out of trouble.
I would have to put them Sharpe, Rice, Brookes very close to Rice and then Bethea.

I would have loved to seen Troy in Spurriers offense. Weve had some good ones that didnt get much of a chance to show what they had.

Another Sharpe and Rice guy here.
Sharpe, because of not only what he did as a Gamecock, but because he went on to be pretty impressive in the NFL:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterling_Sharpe
What he could have accomplished if he hadn't been injured is anybody's guess, but I think he would have been up there with Jerry Rice.
Sid. Well, he broke some of Sterling's records. He's a natural, and I look forward to what he will do in the NFL. Well, and CADD's Chase That Dream video of highlights of Sid, I just can't get enough of that.

Sid Rice could have been one of the top two All-Time SEC Team WRs had he stayed another year. He was only 9 TD's away from breaking the all time mark.

I've seen everyone on the list.
If you're talking fastest, speediest, "most productive career", etc etc, debate away.
If you're talking who was most likely to getcha whatcha need whenya need it, Sharpe and Rice are no-brainers. Everyone else is way back.

Clutch! If the game is on the line in the last minutes, I don't care how many defenders are around them, throw it their way and they will figure out how to haul it in.
