For those of you who have the new Samsung i730 like I do (or any phone with mp3 or wav capability), you know one of the coolest features is the mp3, midi, and wav file ringtones. You can convert actual mp3 into wav files to get CD quality ringtones.

So here are some Gamecock ringtones, if you have the i730 or any phone that accepts wav files at the following frequency: 8000khz 8bit Mono PCM

First up is the fightsong:

CH, I have a Motorola one.....do you have those available?

ultimatetailgater
08-12-2005, 01:52 PM
Any phone that has mp3 capability should be able to play them. Just get a copy of Motorola Phone Tools and use Blue Tooth or a USB cable to put the songs on your phone.

If you have problems these guys can help
http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=294
but be careful you can void your warranty if you mess up.

You should be able to download these tones to your pc, and using a data cable and some software, you could transfer those to your phone

GarnetSpur1973
11-22-2005, 04:13 PM
You can download some sounds to a Verizon phones (if capable) but Verizon's software will only let you store them to play, it will not give you the option to store as a ringer..Bummer. The only way around that is to hack the phone but that voids any warranty you may still have on the phone. I am looking into this hack right now to see if it's something I may want to consider doing to my Motorola V710.

Spurrier05

I am not Hoskins but I have a RAZR and the tones on here, that are in this thread, unzip to be wav's. You have to get some sort of tool off of the internet to change them over to mp3's so you can use them as a ringtone. I know this phone will play wav's but won't allow you to use them as a ringtone. That may be the problem of the previous poster.....

Hi guys, I just got a new Motorola Razr V3m with Verizon, and thought that I'd make some Gamecock ringtones. I hate the fact that you have to pay 2.99 for a ringtone, and I think that since I bought the phone, I can put whatever files I'd like on it. Anyways, I put this thread here because I didn't know where else it should go, I'm not charging for these tones, just wanted to post to see if anyone was interested. I know these tones work for the Razr V3M, but that's the only phone I know of so far. If you want to help me find out what other phones they work for, post here and we'll give it a go. You have to be a Verizon customer, and you need to make an account www.vzwpix.com (http://here). It absolutely free to make an account there if you have a Verizon phone. Also, I think it's free for me to send you the ringtone via the VZW PIX account, but if not, it may charge you .25 cents per message. But still, .25 is a far cry from $2.99!

Oh yeah, the tones I made are

Hey CH, do we have any of these songs in a mp3 format? My phone won't play wav's as a ringtone..

Fan, go to zdnet or download.com and get one of the free music file converters. Then you can get music files in any format and convert them to whatever format you need.

Just a little hint: I used to have a program called Xingtone and it would let me edit any song and put them as a ringtone. The website that i can remember is Xingtone.com. It costs a one time fee of 20.00. But it sure beats paying 3 dollars every single ringtone.

I have the verizon RAZR (V3C).

It was pretty easy to get it to accept ringtones via computer if you're willing to void the warranty.

You can find the info and tools you need at howard forums.

Basically you have to flash the phone with a different software. The current Verizon software has the multimedia USB file transfer removed. So you can find the "modified" one on the internet and flash your phone.

You will need Motorolla Phone tools and the tech software for the phone to flash it.

Again its pretty easy if you study up on it. If anyone needs any help then post and ill see what i can do.

Also let me know I can provide links or upload some of the stuff here or on bittorrrent.

I have a V3 (Verizon V3M but recognized as a V3C now so I can transfer without using someone's 'pay service') - doesn't seem to like mono mp3's or the 8000Hz sampling rate - not sure. At least MPT converts to mp3 for transfer - phone won't accept wav's.

Anyone have 16 bit stereo mp3 (say up to 22050Hz) of the rooster and Step to the Rear?

To the last two posters:

1. I have the rooster in a wav file. I think, but am not sure, that you can convert it to mp3 in iTunes. You'd prolly know better than me.

2. I've got the Ellis call in mp3. I don't know what I like better - "Death Valley is Silent" or Liz Macmillian squealing in the background. You can't listen to this without smiling.

Both of you, pm me and I'll e-mail to you.

thanks guys:cocky:Verizon's pretty 'good' about locking the phones down so you can't upload your own ringtones/mp3's or download files (eg; photos you snap...) - pushes you to use their services - which costs airtime at a minimum...

http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic51707.html?rfp=dta

After reading this, buying Motorola Phone Tools, I've got access to upload/download files. Haven't always been successfull with mp3's as ringtones, but anything I rip I can use. There are some good ripper out there that let you graphically adjust start and ending points, fade in/out, etc...

Somebody asked for Spurrier's quote, "Its time for Carolina Football"

Right click the link and choose either "save link as" or "save link target as" and just so you don't forget the name you might want to re-name it something other than a1022.e8dd0.mp3 and also save it in a spot where you won't forget where it is.

File Type: mp3
File Size: 57.6 KB
File Duration: 00:02
Bit Rate: 160 Kbps

http://www.mp3-host.com/uploads/a1022.e8dd0.mp3

I used Motorola Phone Tools to put that on my Razr V3m. I know that Razr phones like mp3's to be at least of 128 kbps quality. If you need it lower quality for your specific cell phone then you can use iTunes to make the quality lower if you need too.

I thought we fixed that. I'll get khosk to look at it again in the AM. When we switched servers some of the attachments didn't move.

Thanks hoskins, the only one that works is bigbears "back with cocky." All the others have nothing in the zipped files. I will look for it tomorrow.

Hoskins, did you have a chance to fix these? Just checked, and it didnt look like there was anything in the zip files.
