We have been focusing on offense, so I thought it was time for a defensive poll. Who are your top three linebackers? Remember to vote for three. If you vote other, please list who you voted for.

I went with Seawright. I almost went with Abraham, but when I think of him...I think DE. Yes, I know he played LB his last year ... But that was more of a DE/LB spot. He was up on the line way too much for me to consider him a True LB. BTW, same with Kalimba. I'd say Kalimba and Abraham are two of our best at DE.

I picked Edwards, Campbell, and Dixon. Edwards was the man of the modern era, and who cant pick the guy who stuffed tennesee's two point try for the win.

I went with Seawright ; Campbell and Dixon

Seawright was my favorite; and Campbell shuts down UT's chance at a comeback; and Dixon was Dixon...

How can anybody say Abraham is not the best? He is a beast!

LeHeup was the only All American Carolina has had at LB that I know of.....it should mean he'd be at the top of the list, but he was there in the early 70's so most of you guys won't remember him. He was one tough cookie. Dana Carpenter was a tough one too, AND a great guy.:kill:

What about Roy Hart? He was the best middle linebacker in the country in 1987. He has to at least be on the list.

I picked Kalimba, Hank Campbell, and Ernest Dixon. Can't forget Hank Campbells stop against Tennessee to seal our first ever win over UT. I could watch that game over and over again.

Edwards and Abraham were defensive ends. In the group listed Abraham hands down but for pure linebackers Searight was a lot of fun to watch.

Seawright, Abraham, and Edwards! I picked winners as well... There is another name on the tip of my tougue, either LB or DE, played with Rogers and was a Lombardi Trophy finalist, Andrew something, can somebody help me out?

Too bad nobody had seen Brinkley play when this list was originally made. He will continue to be a dominating player. He made a huge difference in the success of Carolina's defense this year. I would not be surprized to see him rank at the top in years to come. As listed, I go with Abraham one and Edwards two, but both were 'tweeners that played DE most of the time.

I voted for:

1 - Other (Jasper Brinkley will take over this spot by the time he leaves)
2 - Hank Campbell
3 - James Seawright

John Abraham shouldn't even be in this list, he spent over 80% of his time as a gamecock as a DE and he hasn't played as a LB in the pros.

I went down and spent the weekend with the coaches from chesterfield (ryan young and steve t.), and hank was up there. He is extremely nice, and got bigger.

Best DB's... I suspect the fact that Rick Sanford scored so poorly in the poll is a generational thing. Of all the DB's, he stands head and shoulders above all the others given he was All pro and distinguished himself professionally for a number of years. He and Bill Currier both had solid professional careers.

How can anybody say Abraham is not the best? He is a beast!

The only problem is Abraham was a DE not a LB, Dana Carpenter was a nose guard, and Kalimba Edwards was a DE.

I guess you could, if you never saw Seawright or Prezioso play.

I won't vote for Kalimba because of his refusal to practice for Outback Bowl games. To be the best, you have to play.

That was actually Shannon Wadley who played for Brad Scott and Holtz. Kalimba and Lou didn't exactly see eye to eye.

the best LB Ive ever seen put on the Garnet and Black is Jasper Brinkley! I know he has only played 1 year, but IMO he is the best. Ricardo Hurley would have been a top 5 guy had he not been coached by 5 different coaches!!!

I think that we should update this after this season, Jasper should be on the list once his career is over here.

Again, guys...some of the candidates here are not LB's. They are DE's. I know you want to be accurate.

All you guys that have only seen Jap play chill out. He'll get his turn.

Seawright, Dixon and Miller were my 3 picks.

If you never saw James Seawright play, then you truly missed the best we ever had IMO. That man was all over the field and in on just about every play. Jap Brinkley is in the same league...just needs more time.
