What's up with the black USC helmets?

I went into one of the sports stores in the mall (I am collecting all the SEC helmets), and they still have the black interlocking USC for sale. How close were we to losing the the block C gamecock?

It must have been a close deal if the University authorized the design and production.

By the way, don't ever touch my Block C gamecock!:-x

Search this forum. There is a story about it on here. In 2004, we actually adopted that design. Russell went so far as to produce helmets and mini-helmets were made for sale. When the picture was put up on the internet, an uproar from the fans resulted in scrapping the idea and going to the black with block C we all know now.

I have a picture but it is on my home computer of the actual helmet.

I'm glad we're not using the interlocking "USC" so much anymore... it just looks kinda generic IMO.

I already have all of the conference with a white and a black Carolina helmet. But have you or anyone else seen any garnet mini helmets anywhere?...preferably made by Schutt.

I have this helmet its not one of thoes small ones its a game helmet. Ive been looking everywhere for the block C logo to put on it. I hate the usc logo. Does anybody know where I can get the block C Logos?

Hey JoMo, I have a guys e-mail address that I can give you. He has almost all of the Gamecock stickers from years past. I bought a couple from him last year (I redid some old helmets). I think the whole package will run you about $20 or so. Just let me know if you want his address. Also, check ebay...every once in a while you can come across some USC stickers. Just search "football helmet decals"

I kinda like it too...maybe not enough to change.... it but it has impact due to its simplicity.
