Best Intros to 2001

I know that we have been changing up our intro to 2001 the last couple of years. We had the Pirates of the Caribean song thing going on. Im personally a fan of the GAME-COCK chant before and then all of sudden starting 2001. Just wondering what everyone else's favortie is.

Why do we always bring that up? We got BLASTED that game. Utter humiliation. I don't care how good our intro was, that's embarrassing.

Your first 2001 is always one of the best if not the best. After that one it would be before 2005 Fla game. Even though it was a day game the place was rockin' and 30 minutes before the game there was cheers going on. I remember starting a cheer in the student section, "WE GOT SPURRIER", "Florida...SUCKS" and so on. By the time the 2001 started the place was already at a fevers pitch and ready to blow. I saw on ABC a show called football in the south and they showed the best video of the 2001 of that game. They captured the spirit and emotion of the moment. They had one camera in the tunnel with the players another 2-3 in the student section and one of the entire stadium. It was awesome. If anyone can find it and post it I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah that intro gives me chills. I would've never thought with the adrenaline pumping in the blood of guys like Petty and Brewer that we would've gotten trumped like that. Still one of the best Gamecock teams ever though.

Same here. The Pirates music cuts into the Gamecock chant too much and really doesn't have anything to do with Carolina football. I like the Spurrier part though.

Maybe we could do the Gamecock cheer, have the rooster crow, then Spurrier, then 2001.

the most recent one was real tight... pirates... it's carolina football leading into loud cheering and the chant so that the beginning of 2001 is barely audible, then just blasting it while everyone goes nuts. 2001 plays, cocky comes out and the flags/football team run out... it's truly perfect. wouldn't change it.

Alright I think I have a solution to everyone on the video issue mic man and gamecock chant. You play the video with either the pirate song or I would preffer back in black since that will probably be our base home color. Then at the end of it have Spurrier do his it is time for carolina football then go GAME!!! to start the chant. This eliminates the mic guy who I believe we all hate and would make the crowd go crazy. Also video people get their thing and people who want gamecock then 2001 get their way too. I would love it just to hear spurrier starting a gamecocks chant.

My buddies and I have all make a joke about the way Spurrier said that line, I freaking love it!! We'll all imitate his voice for certain things like "It's time for some BEER!" or "It's time to grill some steak"

I was wondering about how they need to do somthing to get the crowd fired up to be louder....i think it would be really cool if they gave everyone a black (blackout) shirt before the game so the entire stadium would be black! It would look really cool! i think maybey they could give the rally rags to everyone not just the student section b/c that makes more excitment! Even the little string things that look cool with everybody! unless it is a very big game the brice is hard to get rockin' throughout the whole game and we need something like that! i'm not tryin to compare us to the taters but it does look kool when you look out at the stadium and it is just one color! Any ideas or can they do that???

The best introduction was when they blasted the funeral bells for our opponents then you hear the GAME-COCK Chant and then 2001!! I think they should have a grim reaper on the side lines, ringing the funeral bells with each team receiving 13 tolls. Then let the place go black and then go into 2001!

I like "It's time for Carolina football", but the bell before 2001 was probably my favorite. When they renovate the stadium, they should put a big bell over near the band... we can ring that before third downs if the almighty SEC will allow it

Before games here at Ole Miss we always have someone famous start the Hotty Toddy by saying "are you ready?" Weve had Snoop Dogg, Hugh Hefner, and many others. But easily the best was Eli's senior year when we played LSU here for the SEC West championship. We hadnt lost an SEC game yet and we were pumped. For the pre-game our video screen lit up with the scene from Gladiator when he has to fight the tigers and
kills them all. Then Russell Crowe comes on and does the "are you ready?"
It was awesome. To bad we lost. But USC could show that same scene next year against Clemson...it will get ya pumped.

Yea we got destroyed but I will always remember that day. We started tailgating at 7 am for Gameday and some how I didnt pass out before the game started. I was standing on the top of the walkway thing above the USC locker room. I was yelling and jumping up and down like everyone else when 2001 started but I honestly stopped and just watched and listened. It was so damn loud and from up where I was I had a great view. The entire stadium was going crazy. I was in awe standing there watching and listening to the noise. I had seen tons of 2001's before that but that one was different.

I personally like the blackouts, whiteouts, etc..... Sure that was a bad day. Mainly because they had SOS. Now we have him. Maybe if we do it against SCState everyone will like it again after we beat them by 50. It does look nice, and the tv audience likes them. It would only help w/ recruiting, atmosphere, etc.....

I like your idea but I would just do garnet and black. I don't think we should do white since that is more of a penn state thing. Also garnet and black are our colors. i know you were thinking because of time of day and temp but I would change it to.
