Deion Walker is a 6'4 190lb five star WR that just said on rivals that he is going to have to visit us. His best friend is Freddie Brown, said his did coached brown in his 10th, and 11th grade year and they became like best friends.

Man this would be a huge pick up, he has 42 offers right now, and said after us he will visit southern cal. This would make me forget about AJ really fast lol

Do you have a link? It's always good to get a kid on campus, but HATE to hear that he's going to Southern Cal right afterwards.

Scout has him at 6'3 and 185 but have him at 4.45. Could be a nice little addition.

hell either way - i want him - we just need one big profile recruit to sign with us early to get the ball rolling again - imagine if culliver had committed to us early - who knows who else we would have gotten

I would love to land him and Brown. I think Brown will be a 5 star by the end of the year. Brown is a beast. As for Walker he must be talented if he has 5 stars.

He is going to visit sometime at the end of july per rivals.

looks like fsu has a great shot at him, but one of his best friends is freddie brown, so we still have an outside shot. And with SS who knows?

Deion Walker was on campus this weekend according to Rivals and according to Rivals' teaser he was "Shocked" at what he found I assume that is shocked in a good way. so that is good news

He was shocked in a good way, and really enjoyed his visit. Unfortunately, SOS and SOS, Jr. weren't in town for the visit. I think that kinda hurts us, but if he was blown away without those two here, maybe he'll come back to meet the Head Ball Coach and commit on the spot. Doubtful, but a boy can dream.

Florida State is the team to beat. When SOS wins the SEC this year that might sway him but its going to take a lot.

BC there offense sucks, all the do is run the ball.
And i know him and EJ Manuel are really good friends now and he spend the night at EJ's the other week and they went out and threw the ball around. FSU is probably going to be the team to beat for this kid, and they will most likely get Julio Jones too, they are going to bring in a sick class.

CockyDemon13
08-15-2007, 05:59 PM
Well we have 4 commitments already and I'm pretty sure we didn't have this many at the same time last year. Besides, we are going more for specific needs (3-5 offensive lineman, 2-4 linebackers, 1 or 2 receivers, a quarterback, and maybe a tight end and a defensive back or two.). I'd be surprised if we signed more than 15-16 recruits this year.

I agree that we need to take care of biz and win our games, but I dont like the rumor that F$U is the team to beat. Regardless of having a few down years, they still have that allure that recruits are attracted to and they will do much better this season with their new staff in place. They have a lot of talent - but wasted it the last few seasons.

You'd figured these kids would notice that... if I was going to a school I would ask "What have the last 10 Position X guys that you recruited done here?"

Hey man lets not get into who has better skillz positions us or them bc as loaded as we think we are at WR i still dont think we have what FSU has right now. We are excited that we have a 4.3 guy, teams like FSU has about 6-7 just on offense along with a RB that also does the same thing. We are getting better and are upgrading talent but lets not lose our heads. FSU is loaded at WR this year and i think more people will see that this year. and well the last two people that played those same positions got drafted in the NFL, chris davis and willie ried. and before them it was devon walker so lets let calmer heads prevail bc comparing our NFL players to FSU is just rediculous. but we will be there soon enough.

With the new OC in place, we will see a lot more of the old-school FSU IMO ... they used to be feared back in the mid 90s ... now everyone beats them. Didnt they resort to black jerseys last year for a few games? I never understood that seeing that its not a school color, but whatever ...

There was a really good article someone posted a while back that detailed who FSU was recruiting, their productivity, etc ... it was very well reserarched and well written. I really respect a journalist who digs a little deeper than merely scratching the surface LOL. Anyway, it detailed their losng list of 4 and 5* recruits and the number of them that had either dropped out, gone the juco route, or just been a dud...

It demonstrated that they have had "good" recruiting classes yet had very few of those gems actually produce for them on the field. and IMO the rest of the guys they landed were squandered by Jeff Bowden and his vannila O.

Plus the FSU staff had remained intact for something crazy like 15 years before guys like Brad Scott, M Ritch, and Chuck the Chest started splintering off for HC jobs ... and staff continuity is a huge factor in building a program.

JMO, but I think the retooling Poppa Bowden finally did this offseason will pay big dividends this Fall.

Don't always believe what recruiting sites tell you. I guarantee you that the top wide receiver for next year could be from Maine and be the biggest Rutgers fan alive and Rivals would still list Southern Cal, Miami, LSU, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas as his top choices.

Yea.

Out of curiosity, I searched the #1 reciever for 09. Logan Heastie from Va Beach, and he wants to be a gator. :( Can these kids just stay from the SEC East.

CockyDemon13

I guarantee you the reason why they have him listed that high is because someone called him a couple of days after the gators won the nc and asked him who all he was interested in and he said well the gators look good right about now and they took it that they were his top team.

Then again he could be a lifelong overgrown lizard fan.

If Deion Walker has any interest in us, it is very minimal. Not enough to make him consider coming here.

On the flipside, we have very good chances with Tommy Streeter and T.J. Lawrence.

I'm not sure what games they are playing in or about Whitlock's game.
