Smoak's skills drawing awards, honors, praise

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — The song to introduce Justin Smoak's at-bats with South Carolina is the theme from the Dukes of Hazzard, with Waylon Jennings growling about a "good ol' boy, never meanin' no harm."
Well, the Gamecocks' country boy from Goose Creek is morphing into a literal globetrotter this summer.

Before Tuesday, the 20-year-old had never left the country. By the middle of August, Smoak will have been to South America and Europe.

It's looking like he'll be number 2 in the draft next year with Pedro Alverez as the number 1 draft pick. I got to see them both play this summer for Team USA...even got a ball signed by them both. SWEET!! Yeah, I'm looking forward to watching his last season at Carolina.
