this is my attempt to see if a- there are any gamecock fans besides myself in the Charleston area, and B- if so, we should try to start some sort of lowcountry gamecock club of some sorts. It doesn't have to be anything official but it would be nice for those weekends where we can't make the games to have a local gamecock brethren to be around. Chucktown needs more gamecock exposure b/c we just don't have it here like we did when I lived in the Columbia area.
so, if yall are in the Charleston area and bleed garnet and black, let me know!

Im living over in James Island, right over the connector...I plan on going to all home games, as well as Athens and UNC....but I would be very interested in a gamecock club of course and also very interested in a bunch of us getting together somewhere for the other away games...

well hopefully more charleston area cocks fans will read this and be interested, but in the meantime, does anybody have any suggestions or ideas on places to meet, things to do, etc.? Since there are people up 26 as far as moncks corner and as far south as James Island, maybe something in between? Any suggestions would be great since some of yall might have more experience at this than I do.

Count me in. I live up Dorchester near Summerville. I'll give this thread a few days and will capture all the participants names and route to everyone for info.
I get around to several places:
West Ashely: Bobbys and Georges
Mount P: Wild Wings but prefer the Island Club House (at the putt putt just before getting on the causeway over to Sullivans.
Summerville: McGuires
North Area: There is Sportz but I really don't care for the place.
Go Cocks!

All of those places are good, one more suggestion - I've watched one game at Kicken Chicken in Summerville and we had a pretty good time there. I like Bobby's in WA, but that place is always so crowded that if we wanted to get a crowd together, that might not be the best choice. I'm game for traveling any place. I'm on the road between Myrtle Beach and Cola quite often from Moncks Corner, so the drive to the diff Chas areas doesn't bother me.
We could also alternate places from game to game until we find a place that works for us and we see how large the crowd will be on average. I try to make most of the home games at the Willy B, but am definitely up for watching the away games with fellow CT'ers.
Just let me know what help is needed.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm not too far away, so I should be able to make some gamedays. Keep us posted as to where you decide to meet. Naturally, closer is nice but room to accomadate and good viewing is primary.

CCC, as long as Kicken shows the games, that is a great spot. I didn't even know there was one near Summerville, but that sounds like a good place to start.

by the way, off subject I know, but I actually purchased that Gamecock in ladson last year for 8 dollars...and I named him Cocky...and I donated him to my old fraternity where they built him- and the 2 hens we bought(mammy and maybelle)- a lovely coop outside in our back yard. I just felt the need to share that story as I stumbled across this picture!

I watched the UF game there last year. There weren't any big screens though. I was with a group of 5 and we got a seat right in front of the bar and was able to hear and watch the game just fine. But I don't know if they've gotten any big screens since then. If I get a chance later this week I'll ride out there, but I wasn't thinking about screen size for a larger crowd.

Looks like were getting a good Chucktown response. I'll give this thread until 9 tomorrow night before getting the list out to everyone. I will be in Savannah for three days of I & I and would like to get the first draft out. It'll be a live document and updated as new people sign on.
I know a lot of people go to WB for home games but I am not one of them. Too many irons in the fire. So great idea C of C. Also, this is the perfect venue for the Thursday night games.
CCC - I thought of the Kickin Chicken too, but like you did not think it was very suitable for FB get togethers. I think as game times come close and there are only a few that want to get together that would be a great choice. I have always enjoyed going there.
Two weeks to the day and our kicken chickens will kick some cajon ass!!!!!!!!!

Georges is the absolute best place to watch a Gamecock game but the only problem is its popularity. Be prepared to watch it with at least a couple hundred other fans (mostly Gamecocks). The entire wall and almost everywhere you look has a TV. If it is broadcast in some shape or form Georges has it. I have never heard of a game not getting broadcast there because of blackout or location period. He has about 18 satelites and 60 tv's with about 20 of those being wall sized projector screens. There are also really good drink specials not to mention the wings. Most of all he is a huge Gamecock fan. I have a website link if anyone wants it PM me.

I want to say thanks to CoC07 for starting this thead and pushing the ball to get things rolling. Everyone in this thread up to this post has been sent a CT email requesting personal emails to recieve a spreadsheet of all Charleston Area CT members interested in getting together for games. If there is anyone else interested, please IM or email me and I'll get the list updated and sent out.
As most know, I will not be available for the first game but am looking forward to a great season. CCC has been gracious enough to putting together a list of those available in the Charleston area for the first game. She is doing this even though she will be at WB (Im jealous). I look forward to meeting everyone.

I am making it a point to try and get to as many games this year at home as I can. I will be highly interested in us all hanging out during away games or any games that I do not make it to.

I emailed the addresses donb sent the other day, but have received no responses. I realized that I sent the email from my work email address and our firewall has been marking lots of emails as spam lately, so that may be why I haven't gotten any responses.
I am going to start a 2 thread titled "Charleston Area Gamecocks - La-La game and UGA game". Hopefully we'll get some yea's and nay's for those two games and settle on a place for everyone not able to attend to meet up and watch the Gamecocks roll to victory on the big screen.
