Former UT Commit Looking Hard At USC

By Phil Kornblut
USC is now a major player with RB Tauren Poole (5-10 200) of Toccoa, GA. Poole once was a Tennessee commitment but has backed off that pledge. "I'm trying to look for the best place for me," he said. "My commitment was early so I just want to look around. Tennessee is still in the running as one of my top schools. South Carolina and Tennessee are recruiting me the hardest. South Carolina is recruiting me extra hard and I like the fact they are showing me that they want me, and I'm interested in them." Poole said he's also interested in Clemson but hasn't been getting that hard of a push from the Tigers. He also is looking at Auburn, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Maryland. All have offered. He has not scheduled any official visits. Last season Poole rushed for 1925 yards and 24 touchdowns.

I would love to have him but I think it will come down to whether or not we miss out on Womble & Ward.

I saw about a month ago where we were still going after him hard. Looks like he's responding.

"Tauren Poole on the carry for the Gamecocks, and that's another Carolina...FIRST DOWN!"

Friday he had around 268 yds I believe against Seneca. Maybe it was 168 but I was thinking 268. I think that is what I read. I could be wrong but it was a lot!
Anyone else know?

good lord that is a lot of yards.

Looks like Emanuel Cook rushing numbers his senior year.

In the playoffs, Cook rushed for 601 yards and 10 touchdowns in four wins that sent Gardens to its first state title game. Cook and his teammates put on a clinic in the Gators' 49-29 win against Deerfield Beach in the Class 6A championship game, with Cook accounting for 243 of the Gators' 434 rushing yards. He finished the season with 2,027 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns.

Tauren looks like he will be a great player from the numbers. We know Emanuel is a badass on D.

I have seen him play in person. He is very elusive and makes people miss. He also has excellent speed. I personally think he is as good if not better than either Womble or Ward.

he's a tenn soft verbal, and from what i've heard and read, he likes USC....

this kid is insane, his game film is awesome...he's a 3*, but man he's good

great vision and speed, and looks like a real gamebreaker.

anyone heard much on him?

We are in great shape with 4 outstanding HS running backs...Not sure how many we take...Most are saying just 1 in addition to Baker, whom we placed in prep school....Looking at some of the video i just don't knwo how you would say no to any of the 4...My goodness Spurrier has really upgraded our talent level

Haven't heard much about him lately, but I think we are going after these three:

Jamal Womble
Martin Ward
Franklin Green

The first one that commits is the one we will take along with Eric Baker. After that, no more RBs... or so we think.

I agree, we'll only take 1, MAYBE 2 more

We've always had tremendous running backs. The biggest trick to these guys is the recruiters getting the right blockers in front of them.

Poole To Watch USC & UT

By Phil Kornblut
RB Tauren Poole (5-10 200) of Toccoa, GA, a former Tennessee commitment, plans to make an unofficial visit to Knoxville Saturday to watch the Vols play another of his favorites, USC. "I have seen the opportunity that I have if I go to South Carolina," Poole said. "They have guys leaving at the running back position and they don't have a lot of depth, so I could step in there and play. Tennessee is a great school also. Running back is all about competiting. I feel like I can go in and compete with anybody." Poole plans to be in Columbia November 10th when the Gamecocks tackle Florida. "I'm just trying to weigh it out," Poole said. "I think it's going to take a long time, but I'm pretty sure that I will make it toward the end of the football season. It's South Carolina or Tennessee, though. Those are the only two schools that hung in it with me the whole time." Thru eight games this season Poole has rushed for 1300 yards and 20 touchdowns.
