Woodland Quarterback Robert Smith

So much for the soggy conditions slowing down Woodland's pass-happy offense.
Freshman quarterback Robert Smith completed 14 of 23 passes for 389 yards and four touchdowns, as the visiting Wolverines held off Bluffton High School in a 40-26 shootout Friday night.
Thunderstorms delayed the game for nearly three hours -- the kickoff was pushed back about an hour, and play was stopped again after the teams traded offensive series. When play resumed about two hours later, Smith hit A.J. Johnson for a 56-yard touchdown, the first of two scoring throws to Johnson.
The Bobcats (2-3) showed signs of life on offense after two dismal weeks in which they managed only eight points combined. Running back Timmy Smith ran 24 times for 115 yards and a touchdown to lead a Bluffton running game that racked up 240 yards on 55 carries.

Bluffton took a 20-14 lead on Zach Frazier's 11-yard run in the second quarter, but the Wolverines marched 76 yards on the ensuing drive, tying it on a 12-yard pass from Smith to Marquise Carson, who also caught two touchdown passes.
When the Wolverines (4-0) struck for two quick scores at the end of the third quarter and early in the fourth, pushing their lead to two scores for the first time in the game, Bluffton couldn't match Woodland's quick-strike capability.
Bluffton quarterback Ryan Shea completed his first five passes, but he finished 6 of 15 for 97 yards.
