I have a friend that that lives in the Charleston area and we we're just talking about that this kid. He couldn't remember his name, but he saw him play a couple of weeks ago and he looked awesome. Also he was saying they have a couple of receivers that are pretty good as well. Anyone have any info on these guys?

Use the search function. I remember an entire thread about him from a while back.

Just found some stats on him... Top QB in the Low country area thus far.
Attempts/Completions/Yardage/TD.'S
80/126/1174/15
6-1 207 Seems to have decent size as well. I wonder why he isn't getting more attention?

I think we are probably done QBs this year.

I don't think he is a Spurrier type QB.

John Carnell is 5'11" in cleats....Lucky if he is 5'10" bare footed....He is not a d-1 QB...He is like all those Greenville High QBs that roll up numbers in HS but aren't really bigtime talents.....A lot of great HS players don't translate to great SEC players.....Just as a lot of great college players don't translate to the NFL game

Sorry to correct you, but John Carnell is a legit 6'-2" and 210lbs. Don't know how you are so familiar with him but your information is not accurate.
How he translates as a QB in college no one knows but he is one heck of a high school QB.

I am 6'3" and he is at least 3 inches shorter than me...But its possible he could have grown an inch or 2 since April

I don't think that assessment of height is valid but it really doesn't matter to South Carolina football, they already have two QBs committed for the '08 class.

Throws a pretty ball. Good arm, fair mobility.
Reminds me of Trey Elder. Phenomenal numbers, good FCS (I-AA) QB.

I heard his brother plays at The Citadel. I saw him play 96 (of all teams). He throws it up in the air for the receiver to get ALL THE TIME. Not a SOS system QB at all.

HAHA!! Woodland got a dose of reality last Friday Night (J/K) I was there too.. (I went to Hanahan) --Hanahan 48 Woodland 13:bow:
Actually.. Carnell is a good QB.. but he does lack arm strength.. Right before halftime.. he threw a hail mary (from his own 45.. the ball might have went 45-50 yards max)-- he got it around the 5-10 yardline..
Duke is probably his biggest offer right now.. his other offers are mainly D-2 schools..
The WR going to Clemson only had 2 catches all night.. to me.. he didnt play with any emotion all night.. I was impressed with the RB (#32--Isom) the kid ran hard... and had over 200yds rushing.. He isnt that big (5-10 maybe).. but he ran hard.. and for his size.. broke alot of tackles..

By "throwing it up" I assume you mean fade routes or passes. Fade routes to a tall WR are the staple of good QBs. It takes touch and accuracy to put the ball where the receiver can make a play. Not all high school QBs can make that throw and he does it well. I don't think "throwing it up" would characterize his passing. You could not have his accuracy rating with only fade patterns.
