did i get screwed here?

i was bidding on a trek road bike and it was around $920 w 2 min left ... i was leading.

then someone outbid me right about then

i waited until the 45 dec mark and bid 980 ... outbid ... so i bid 1025 ... outbid ... so i bid 1075 ... outbid ... and then followed that up with 1085 but the clock expired.

then i looked back at the winning bid an the bid list ... the winning bid was $1050

how in the hell did that happen?

it was a great deal on the bike.

Because when you bid you are bidding the maximum amount you wish to pay. He could have placed a bid on 1 million dollars (an exageration obviously), then it's always going to have his bid a few bucks above the next highest.

The downside of placing an uber high bid is that you have to pay it. If someone runs up the price on you you're stuck with it.

what he is saying is that he bid 1075, which would be higher than the d-bag's proxy bid, meaning he should have the winning bid, as it was at 1050. If d-bag had bid 2000 as his proxy, and GA had bid 1075, the d-bag would have had to pay 1075... anyway... i dont really know why that happened, but it doesn't sound right in my opinion... sorry bud..
