Has anyone here messed around with Team Fortress 2 on the Xbox 360? I know ultimatetailgater is going to kill me for me even suggesting that I play such a classic game on a console, but with my gaming pc slowly biting the dust, I figure my Xbox will run the game much better.

So, my questions are basically:

1 Do alot of people play online

2 I heard there's a bit of lag, anyone know when it will get looked into/patched?

3 What is your experience with it, so far?

i talked to the guy at the gamestop on rosewood, and he said it was awesome. He said that the orange box is by far the best game(s) out right now.

I don't have it, but there are a ton of random people on my friends list that do. They seem to be playing it a bunch.

Lol you sellout . I haven't tried the 360 version but the PC version is awesome. Aside from a few class balancing issues the game runs flawlessly. The orange box is a heck of a deal especially if you pre-ordered for $44.95. You get HL2, HL2:EP1(if you didnt already have them), HL2:EP2, Portal and TF2. I love TF2 is the most fun I have on a video game in a long time. The gameplay is smooth and fun. The characters are perfect complete with taunts and animations. It is pretty demanding if you run it at full detail since all the new orange box games have the update source engine which is made for multicore CPUs. I get about 80FPS average at 1440x900 with max details and 8xAA/16xAF on an C2D E6600 and 8800GTS.

They've patched the PC version 12 times already since the beta went live last month. It was a little choppy at first but they got most of the video issues fixed. When the beta first started there were about 500 servers on the PC version. Today they're are 3300+ so its expanding rapidly on PC. I'd expect the 360 version to get a pretty good following.

I know some people will says its an unfair comparsion but the orange box give you far more bang for your buck than Halo 3.

I think TFC2 sux. I LOVED TFC on t he original HL engine. I hate the new one. It looks like a damn cartoon and the players move around like truckers on crank. Also the ranked games are either 15, 30, or 45 mins. The few times I played it I could only find 1 or 2 games at a time and they would all be 45 mins. And the problem with playing a 45 min game is that people get dropped, get bored, or are playing like shit and leave. I played several games where it ended up being either very uneven teams or very small teams.
I'll stick with Halo 3 or GOW.

that is my only fear in buying it... Halo 3 and gears of war have such an online following that you can play alot with rarely seeing the same person...

I've played TFC for 8 years and I like it better in some respects but TF2 is fun too. Its a nice change of pace. TF2 takes a lot more team work and skill. You can't just bunny hop around everywhere and win by yourself.

So yeah, I rented Orange Box this afternoon... I've only had time so far to try TF2, but so far it's OK. I think the matches are too small on Xbox, though. The most I saw tonight was 8v8, and while that's fun, I missed the mayhem that you had with 12v12 14v14 matches. Also, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO GRENADES!? lol

I like the humor of the game, but I'm gonna miss out on one of my best TFC classes because I suck at sniping w/ a console controller. I need a KB/M wicked bad. Engineer and Demoman are pretty fun (I was always a more defensive player) Soldier is good for just jumping in the action, too. I'll give Portal a shot, and hell, I never got around to beating HL2, so I may as well do that now, too.

If I had TF2 on PC, I'd say it owns Halo3 hands down. But on the Xbox, H3 is king, still. I just didnt' see a whole lot of matches going on. Who knows, maybe I'll get around to building a Crysis machine and TF2 will be a nice bonus. If there are 3300+ right now, surely it'll still be around for a few months... TFC has lasted since what, 1998/99?
