I'm looking to buy a HDTV for the family Christmas present and need some help.
My biggest constraint is space...the place where this is going can only hold a 32" size unit. A second constraint is money...I'm hoping to keep this to ~$1,200 or less.
That said, here are my questions:
1. 1080 or 720 -- or does it make a difference at smaller screen sizes?
2. Any particular brands to avoid?
3. Any "sleeper" brands (would love to find a "Ko Simpson" performer rather than forking out major $$).
4. Any other words of wisdom, "must have" features, websites to look at (I have already found cnet.com)?
Many thanks in advance!!!

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but I've always had great experiences with LGs. Never broken on me and easy to use.

I don't really know what is more important to you, Quality or Price. But Walmart has a 26" LCD HDTV for $398. I saw it in a sales paper earlier this week so I don't know how long it is going to be that price. I can't remember the name brand off of the top of my head but I do remember it being a well known brand.
Also, you see/hear the Vizio brand TVs being advertised as very good inexpensive TVs but I have heard really bad things about them from different consumer reviews on various sites.

i have a MAXENT plasma.....it's a smaller brand carried by best buy. i LOVE it....never had a single problem out of this relatively inexpensive "sleeper brand"

i've read good reviews online at review websites about the VIZIO tv's......and a good friend of mine has one that he loves and has never had any problems with.
it was down to VIZIO and MAXENT for me.....chose the MAXENT but i don't think the VIZIO would have been a bad choice.

I have LG washer, dryer and Fridge, but I have not seen that great of write ups about their plasma.

Whatever you buy, check if it has an ATSC/QAM tuner. You can pick up "cable in the clear" broadcast if it is connected to the RF.
