Veterans Day is an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) holiday honoring military veterans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans). Both a federal holiday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_holiday) and a state holiday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_holiday) in all states, it is celebrated on the same day as Armistice Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armistice_Day) or Remembrance Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remembrance_Day) in other parts of the world, falling on November 11 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_11), the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armistice) that ended World War I (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I). (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armistice_with_Germany_%28Compi%C3%A8gne%29).)
Veterans Day is largely intended to thank veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done their duty.

I was wondering why they did the veterans salute at the Vandy game. I figured it was because the UF game was a sellout and they didnt have any tickets to give to Ft Jackson. As far as a fly over, it would have to be F-18's out of MCAS Beaufort. The F-15's are grounded AF wide.

Oh and its also the Marines Birthday tomorrow. ANNNNNNNNND Cocky's dad, or at least the one who was pa cocky at parents day, is a retired US Navy Capt working up here with me at JFCOM. Great guy hell of a second baseman too in softball.

Happy Vet's Day!

Since they did the flyover at the Vandy game, are they doing it twice this year if they're doing it tomorrow?

The F-15's were grounded after one essentially fell apart while flying pending further investigations. That airframe is getting pretty old and they need to do some tests to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else.

F-18's out of Beaufort is a possibility, also F-16's out of McEntire. Wouldn't surprise me if they flew a few Blackhawks or Apaches from McEntire either (saw some Blackhawks flyover in Gainesville for the first game of the season, wasn't too bad but its no jet flyover).
