Just curious ... i thought that BR movies were shot with a special camera.

So if Close Encounters of the Third Kind is coming out on BluRay soon - and it was made c. 1979ish - how does that work?

How do they "add" the missing visual data?

The run various software filters on it and reprocess the movie. Basically advanced computers made for video editing will touch up and enhance the movie. It still won't be the same quality of a movie filmed with HD cameras but it will look much better.

The Wizard of Oz was on TBSHD tonight it looked amazing. Brought my inner-child back for a minute... then the commercials came on and I put it back to ESPN.
