None of the "experts" think so. Most have us dead last in the east. Saturday will be a good test and so will the game against Clemson in Dec!

We were 10-2 heading into the game with Kansas last season. 4-14 the rest of the way. Regardless of how we start off this season, I will wait until the conference season starts before passing judgement on how well our team does...

This team is still up in the air, even after such dominating performances. With so much young talent getting the bulk of the early playing time, who knows what they're capable of. They haven't been truly tested yet, but one thing is very obvious: this team will finally be able to be competitive against the best shooting teams in the league. It's hard to hit as many shots as they did last night without another team on the court.

Clemson game will be more of a test . .we beat Southern Cal last year and that was not a good interpretation of how our season went

My only defense here, That's when Tre' went down basically. Yeah he still played, but we weren't the same as a team. I'm guessing we could have pulled off a few more wins with Tre' healthy.

I agree on holding off until conference play but the Clemson game will be a good barometer of how well this team can do. A win in Little John and I will say we can compete with everyone in our leage. The key will be to hold serve at home. We have to win in Columbia this year and steal a road win or two. UT seems to be the best team in the East but Florida is rebuilding and UK just plain looks bad right now. I would love to sweep UK and split UT and UF if we do that I really like our chances.

With the efforts and talent thus far you would like to say yes, but there are way too many games ahead of us to answer just yet ... I think our chances look better right now if we can keep up the execution like have been ...

The only arguement I have with that is that last year we may have been 10-2 but we lost to UC-Irvine and got absolutely demolished by Clemson. And those 10 wins were somewhat deceiving because we barely won a few of those games. This year so far we're winning convincingly which I think will translate into SEC play to some extent. I agree we'll find out where we are when we play So Cal and Clemson. Not to mention I have seen us play this year and talent-wise we're a better and deeper team. I'm not saying we won't struggle any this year but I think we have the foundation to have a great team in the coming years. If only Mike Jones would have qualified!

Mike qualified, but didn't go to class. Coach Odom did A LOT to get him into school and Mike screwed it up.

Basketball is a long season and I hope they can hold up until the end. They make me tired racing up and down the court. Injuries and fatigue are my big concerns this season.

I agree with a few other posters, that the Clemson game will give us a clear indication about this team. Personally, I think this team if they stay healthy has a chance to make it to the big dance this year.

we might be a year away, we have some good players but they are really young, i think you see this team slip early and finish strong, setting up next season

That's the way I like to see b-ball played though...especially when your small like we are. It creates a lot more shots than that damn slow weave that Odom loves so much.
