Anyone know what would cause Ebay to step in and cancel the listing right at the end of the bidding?

I was bidding on a road bike and then it just disappeared ...

I cant find it on 'myebay' nor with a product number search...

what gives?

It was probably one of those Nigerian scammers or something. Or someone using another account to list an item and the actual account owner found out and reported him. This happens often.

In fact, it's (the Nigerian/foreign scammers) happened in about 3 of my last 7 transactions on eBay regardless of being a seller or buyer. They come in at the last second and make a ridiculous bid and win...then ask you to send money order or western union to some weird address in Africa. It pisses me off cause I gotta list the item ALL over again.

It's happened to me. EBay pulled it because it was a scam.

Weird... maybe it has something to do with bikes. Close to a week ago, my brother put up his bike for auction on Ebay and was banned for no apparent reason. He hasn't heard back form Ebay yet. I forget the brand of it, but it's some kind of bmx bike.

Ga...I have bought a bike on ebay...bid carefully. I bought a cannondale that was not what I expected. The only way I would buy one again on there would be to have a local pickup where I could inspect it prior to paying...sounds like ebay might have done you a favor. Hope that you find a good road bike...
