Which is it?
100% backwards compatibility and versatile 60GB for $500+
75% backwards compatibility and memory megamachine 80GB for $500+
0% Backwards compatible and functional 40GB for $400
lets hear it, some of us are weighing options for BIG TIME tax returns!!:woo:

Seeing as you can swap out the hard drive if you need to, the 60 gig would be the better option assuming they never get the 80 gig version to 100% BC.

I don't see the whole purpose of backward compatibility. I mean I still have my original xbox hooked up. If I want to play it all I have to do is cut it on. So I would buy the 80 Gig or maybe even the 40 gig but I don't know much about files sizes with PS3. I know I only have a 20 gig on my 360 and have a ton of songs and shit on it and have only used about 10 gigs...

No need for memory cards is one reason. The sole purpose of being able to get rid of that old system is another.

So 75% means the machine will only play 3/4 of your old PS2 games?
I don't have any old PS2 games, they're all at my brother's house. I'd go with 40 only because I have 0 PS2 games... and because I'm cheap. Plus, I like the fact that I can say I payed $400 for my Blu-Ray and PS3 when I payed the same for my xbox alone. :D

I just bought a 40GB the other day and I'm loving it. I won't play any old PS2 games because I don't have that many that I played regularly anyway. I don't see the big deal in being able to play them on there. Yeah, it's a nice feature but most people have a PS2 that can just store away.
Also look on-line for some K-mart coupon that gives you 20% off any purchase, people are using them for PS3 and can get the 40GB for 319. I wish I had known about it earlier. If I remember the link, I'll post here.
