um where do you guys see the impressive offers, bc maybe im looking at the wrong thing. Im sure this kid is good, and being smart is a big bonus. We are recruiting him to play DT not DE per rivals. We have a great shot at him and if the coaches like him then i could care less what his offer list look like.

Per the AJC (http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/shared-blogs/ajc/cfbrecruit/entries/2007/06/17/harmon_explains.html)....

And then there were three in the running for Chamblee’s Loftley
Chamblee defensive end Taylor Loftley said Sunday evening he has narrowed his choices to Duke, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
On the Blue Devils: “I like Duke because of the academics,” Loftley said. “And I think this is a football program on the rise.”
On the Gamecocks: “It’s just the coaching staff and tradition,” Loftley said. “I think South Carolina has the talent to win the SEC title. And playing for [coach] Steve Spurrier would be big. He’s a legend.”
On the Commodores: “I like Vanderbilt because of academics,” Loftley said. “And I think their football team is good and getting better.”
Loftley also holds offers from Ohio, Middle Tennessee State, Central Florida, Stanford and UAB.

This kid is a great student and person of great charatcer that our coaches obviously want in our program...That should be enough for our fans...But we never seem to learn...I remember the silly "what the heck" posts after Pat DiMarco committed last winter...Once all the facts came out we learned that Mr. DiMarco was a fine young man and great prospect...Our coaching staff is determined to win...They can certainly evaluate talent better than Rivals...

Do you think for one second our coaches would offer him this early if they didn't think he was a heck of a player??? Its a little early for fall back recruits don't you think? Or maybe you think our coaches don't know what a great football player is....Just a little respect for our staff people

MJMllier, do you want us to just recruit a bunch of thugs like Miami and UT? I would rather have 11 guys that are average players but NEVER get in trouble than 11 5-star, super talented thugs like derek watson, duane coleman, moe thompson, demitris summers, yusaf kelley, etc that are always in trouble, always late for class, always just getting "done smoked it", dorm raids and other crap like that. I want players that we can be proud of, not thugs.

Miami and UT win NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. I'm glad you aren't a recruiter for the coaching staff.

Loftley Says 3 Stick Out

By Matt Long
DL Taylor Loftley (6-2 258) of Chamblee, GA named seven schools that have given him a scholarship offer. Duke, Stanford, Louisville, USC, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee St, and UAB have all offered, but Loftley said that three stick out the most to him. "Duke, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina. They showed the most attention," he said, "Duke, I like how they're recruiting better players now than they had been...I like that Vanderbilt's trying to compete in the SEC and I'd have an oppurtunity to play there.." He said that he was also interested in USC, "I just love that they have a great fan base," Loftley said, "They have a lot of fans that really support them, and I love their coaches, too." Loftley has visited Duke and Vanderbilt, and attended a camp at Georgia Tech. He said that he will wait to take an official visit to South Carolina, but does not know which weekend. He said that he wants to make visits to all his favorites before he makes his decision. "I hoped to reach it before the season," Loftley said, "But now I just hope to do it as soon as possible." DB Coach Ron Cooper is recruiting Loftley for the Gamecocks.

Must be a smart kid with some of those offers.

DL Taylor Loftley (6-2 255) of Chamblee, GA will make an unofficial visit to USC with his parents Saturday for the Vanderbilt game. USC has been one of the top schools with Loftley who said Monday night a commitment to the Gamecocks Saturday is not out of the question. "It is possible, it's definitely likely," Loftley said. "It depends on how I feel about the visit. My number one thing is being comfortable, if I see it's a place I could spend the next four or five years." Loftley said he hear's a lot from USC recruiter Ron Cooper who was by his school last week. Loftley has made an unofficial visit to Vanderbilt. He's planning official visits with USC, Vanderbilt, Central Florida and Duke. Loftley also has offers from Stanford, UAB, Tulane, Middle Tennessee State and Ohio.

Loftley At USC Saturday

By Phil Kornblut
DL Taylor Loftley (6-2 255) of Chamblee, GA made an unofficial visit to USC Saturday for the Vanderbilt game. Loftley had said before the visit he might commit while in Columbia, but that didn't happen. He said the Gamecocks remain one of his favorites along with Vanderbilt, Central Florida and Duke and he plans to set official visits with those four. "I enjoyed the visit," he said. "I talked to several of the coaches before the game including coach Spurrier. I was tempted to commit but didn't. My parents definitely want me to come back for an official visit." Loftley said he'll also try to get back to USC for at least one more game.

Loftly Sets First Official Visit

By Phil Kornblut
DL Taylor Loftley (6-2 255) of Chamblee, GA has scheduled his first official visit with Vanderbilt for January 18th. He also will set an official visit with USC and is looking at Duke and Central Florida for possible visits. No offense to Mr. Lofley, and I don't mean to start anything, but is it just me or are we going after more kids that are not recruited by Georgia, Tenn, Fla, Clemson?? Very disappointing that we cannot beat out these teams for kids.

Thanks for the compliment but we're not talking about those kids and of course I've heard of them. Loftley is being persued, as the article states, by Vandy, Duke, Central Fla, and us. Sorry that I think we're better than those programs. Not bashing the kid, and I hope he's another John Abraham but just judging by his other offers.

"I Believe!"

I believe in Spurrier and whatever it is that he see's in this kid or any other kid that he pursues for that matter.

I believe that we will win an SEC championship in the next two years with these players and the one's from last years class and next years class.

I believe that if these kids that "The Head Ball Coach" is recruiting have HEART & DESIRE, then he will make them CHAMPIONS.

I believe that last year and this year we are also getting the cream of the crop, regardless of how many stars these gentlemen get. If Spurrier gives them 5 stars, then they are a 5 star athlete as far as I'm concerned.

I BELIEVE!

Yes, and this also means the kid can LEARN. Maybe the talent is raw, but the coaches know this kid has a good head on his shoulders. It's easier to build body mass than brain mass.

Loftley Might Add Two More Visits

By Phil Kornblut
DL Taylor Loftley (6-2 255) of Chamblee, GA has official visits set with USC January 11th and Vanderbilt January 18th, and he's considering Central Florida and NC State for two more January visits. Loftley continues to favor USC and Vandy with no leader between them. He talked recently with recruiter Ron Cooper and was told defensive line coach Brad Lawing would make an in home visit after the dead period. He's not sure when Steve Spurrier will make his in home visit. This season Loftley had 50 tackles and 7 sacks.

Loftley Set To Compare And Contrast

By Phil Kornblut
DL Taylor Loftley (6-2 255) of Chamblee, GA is down to USC and Vanderbilt and will spend the next two weekends looking closely at both schools beginning with his trip to Columbia this weekend. "I really want to see the campus," Loftley said. I want to talk to some of the players, talk to the coaches and my position coach, and talk to coach Spurrier." Loftley, who plans to major in sports medicine, will be joined by his parents on the trip. He doesn't have a favorite between the two and plans to make a decision shortly after the Vanderbilt trip.

Playing time is going to have to play a factor, IMO. Vanderbilt can offer much more playing time than we can.

But if he wants to play for a potential winner, he can come here (though Bobby Johnson isn't doing too bad at Vandy).
