I never heard about the basketball thing. I know SOS gave him permission to play both and he's a great b-ball player, but will he end up playing two sports.

He will need time to adjust and learn the offensive sets, etc.

True... But his size like Julius Peppers when he was at UNC will make a BIG difference

Is it a foregone conclusion that he will be playing basketball?

like everyone else I remember hearing about this initially during his recruiting but is it for sure? I would love to see Big Cliff on the court!

I don't think that Peppers was even recruited for bball games at UNC, but he was so dominanat his first summer there in pickup games, the UNC bball players convinced the coach to give him a walk on spot...if CM is as good as Julius Peppers in bball it would be great. Maybe he would actually attach the rim unlike our boys yesterday

Last I heard was that he would not be playing basketball as the coaching staff wants him to add some weight and bulk up a bit. The reason he has not been able to do this in HS was the fact he was active is sports year round and never allowed himself the opportunity to add muscle. Not sure if things have changed but my guess is he will not be playing basketball. At 6'5, he is a 2G or SF at best and his game is more inside. Not sure he would have the same successes as he did in HS. He would be playing against guys bigger than him as opposed to being the biggest guy. His inside game would dissappear being so undersized.

Cliff WON'T BE playing basketball at USC.. this really came way out of left field.

his high school coach said he wouldn't even be playing football if he was a little bit taller. Apparently he is really good and our lack of a big man gives him a great opportunity to come in and get early playing time.

Charles Barkley was only 6'5" or 6'6". That dood at Penn State that had like 15 rebounds against us was 6'5". Tony Gonzalez was a great inside presence for Cal when he was there and he's not much more than 6'6" or so.

The basketball team can only have 13 players, and they're already at their limit, so Cliff won't be playing basketball. This is just wishful thinking.

How do you figure??? One of the reasons he came to us is because Spurrier gave him permission to play basketball as well...

Gave him permission YES, but that doesn't mean he's gonna play. There's alot more to it than having permission from Spurrier.

That limit refers to scholarship players. Cliff has a football scholarship, not basketball.
