holy shit bro. it's had like the largest cult following of any movie ever made. JJ Abrams is the producer and the trailer came out during the Transformers release. anyhow, the name of the movie wasn't released anywhere and he wasn't telling...so there have been many websites setup discussing the possibilities of the movie and what it could be about, what the "thing" is, etc. it look really interesting and is somewhat filmed like the Blair Witch Project. go to www.1-18-08.com (http://www.1-18-08.com) and check out the trailor. abrams just recently announced that the title will be Cloverfield.

the following and speculation with the movie has been crazy...from a drink called "slusho", to a website with nothing but large photos scattered on the screen that if you click it and drag it and jerk real fast- they flip over with a message, to actual MySpace profiles being set up for the characters that they actually use NOW in real time leading up to the movie's release date of January 18 next year. get what i am saying?

I tried accessing the link you provided...it took me to a page that looked like scattered photographs, and when I scrolled over the page it was like it was one big link...I tried clicking the page to see if it started, or took me somewhere else...but nothing happened.

I left the page open, thinking maybe it was loading...20 minutes later my computer sounded as if it was trying to play some sort of sound from the page, but it was only momentary, and still...no trailer.

That site is one of the weird sites made for the movie to make people think and give clues about the movie...if you go back to that site, you notice you can "grab" a picture and move it around and what not. Try grabbing the picture and jerking it as if you were gonna flip it over. People ended up figuring this out...it was kind of strange. The sound you heard I THINK is the monster...or at least I have heard. I have left the screen up long enough to hear it yet.

IMO, it's a little early to say that since neither movie has been realeased yet, but I'll definately agree they look VERY promising.

I had my doubts about Ledger as The Joker, but watch the trailer while looking at his picture and it'll send chills down your spine. Nolan was smart to create a completely different type of Joker than the Nicholson portrayal, and it looks like it's going to pay off.

Doom's quicky reviews:

Iron Man comes out in May.

The new Narnia looks fantastic.

The new Rambo looks rather sad.

I pray to God that the chatter about Cloverfield having the "little" monsters (think the American Godzilla) is bogus.

New Bat trailer comes out on the 14th of December!

GI Joe starts filming in Feb.

They are making a JLA (Justice Leauge of America) movie with Batman, Supermen, Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman (they are going to use the animation they did in Beawolf).

Live action Dragon Ball Z movie started filming a month ago.

Also, the speed racer movie will suck big time.

And finally, for anyone that is as pumped about Cloverfield as I am, the running time is 90 minutes, and here is a "clip" of sorts that goes along with it.

Yea I did that last night. The ending shocked me, as it did a lot of people in the theater. After a day of having it all soak in, and reading about it, I think it was the way to go. My problem was since I wasn't expecting the end, I wasn't really paying a lot of attention to what he was saying, so I had to re-read the transcript when I got home. While as a movie I am Legend is good, and Will Smith once again was great, the movie was ruined by the change of the story
I just got back from seeing it last night, and that's pretty much sums up my opinion as well. It was a pretty good stand alone movie, but people who are loyal to the book will be dissapointed. The set was great, but the CGI Vampires... well, they look like something you'd see on the Sci-Fi channel at 2:00 in the morning. And yeah, Will Smith had to pull off one hell of an acting job since he had almost every minute of screen time, and that's exactly what he did. One of his better performances by far.

Oh, and the movie also came packed in with the Dark Knight trailer. It was awesome to see it on the big screen. In terms of hype, it will probably be the Spiderman 3 of 2008, except I think it will be a much better movie.

*SPOILERS*

Yeah, I was definately expecting him to lean down and say something to him when Neville's jeep flipped over, but instead we got the flare. The movie kind of went down hill after that and became really predictable.

*END SPOILERS*

If they would have done a few things differently here or there it would have been a much better movie overall, but I'm guessing they thought the spin would be too much for the "average auidence" to take in. Overall, I'd give it a 3/5. It's a nice little Christmas Break flick, but it could have been more if there was a better screenwriter invovled and there was a decent effort on the CGI effects (I'm not even a Special Effects junkie myself, but it was embarrassingly bad). On the split side, the directing and acting were both great and saved the movie from being a clunker.

when sam dies, holy cow....will smith's face was incredibly powerful

I saw it Sunday night, and I agree he was great in that scene. One thing about that, though. SPOILER Why did they feel it necessary to tell us right before she died that Sam was really Samantha? Kinda lost on that one. Were we supposed to be even more upset that it was a female ?

Also, what the hell ever happened to costumes? The Dark Seekers, IMO, would have looked much better had they been real people. People like Rick Baker do amazing things with makeup and costumes these days. CGI is just the cheap way out to me. It was cool back when it first came out, and it's cool when the time is spent to make it look good, but in I Am Legend's case, it was ugly and made it cheap.

I gave it 2 out of 5 stars. The acting was superb, and the scenery was brilliant. The CGI kills it for me, though. I can't comment too much on the original story as I've never read the book, but I think I'll be picking it up soon.

Oh yeah, anyone else have someone in they're theater scream "Michael Vick!" when Dr. Neville strangled Samantha?? lol

I work with a woman who took her son to see Transformers (I overheard this conversation cause she takes personal phone calls at works and speaks very loudly while on them) and she told the other person how her son told her to stop talking during the movie TWICE, and do you know what she told the other person on the call with her about this? She apparently told her son "You're SUPPOSED to talk at the movie theatre!"

I really do believe some people think its an acceptable thing to do. How they could think this is beyond me...

Well duh! I pay $8.50 to listen to others discuss the movie! .... stupid woman

I have to kinda side with the directors. I don't see how human actors could have given that effect or been able to move as quickly and abruptly as the CGI vampires/monsters. I actually had no problem with the way they looked and thought it was just as good as any other horror movie that has used them.

Juno, There Will Be Blood, Charlie Wilson's War, The Assasination of Jesse James.....

Ledger deserves an Oscar for the Joker
Assasination of Jesse James won't get a nomination, although it is supposedly one of if not the best film of the year. I don't know why it was limited release. But the others you mentioned are probably spot on. So...

No Country For Old Men
There Will Be Blood
Charlie Wilson's War
Juno
Atonement

That's what I think it will look like.

Honorable Mention: American Gangster, Sweeney Todd, Michael Clayton

I can't believe an actor like Fat is going to lower himself to the level of the Dragonball Z movie.

I think this new AVP movie is going to be at least decent. I was so upset at the last movie and how tame it was and how unrealistic the predators were, but they are going back to the roots in the new one, plus it's rated R. Hope it's good

That was a fan submitted art for a contest for the movie on what people thought the monster would look like. There's been a lot of speculation and art appearing around the web.

Supposedly the creature is a deep sea monster that is young, yet has been alive for thousands of years at the bottom of the ocean(boy that makes sense doesn't it?) that just happened on NYC and gets upset when we start shooting at it.

I havent seen Charlie Wilson's war yet, but it seems to me like it's a role from Hoffman that we've seen before. He's good in just about everything he does, so I guess I'm saying his luster has kind of worn off.
Daniel Day Lewis is freakin fantastic in the roles he selects. I can't wait either, I think it will give NCFOM a run for it's money for best picture.

Yea, Atonement is one of those artsy fartsy movies that always pick up hardware, but NCFOM and There Will Be Blood are going to be too much.
It's almost like 1994 when Forrest Gump took home all the awards over Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction. It's been a good year for movies. I know it would never win, or get nominated, but The Bourne Ultimatum was one of my favorites of the year. Thoroughly entertaining from start to finish.

Oh yeah! That was when I first started paying attention to Bale as an actor. It was quite good and funny.

The egg shell business card cracked me up and all the Huey Lweis stuff wwas priceless.

Yea I watched it a couple of weeks ago not knowing what to expect, and i absolutely loved it. It probably has the best/funniest sex scene of all time.

But I gotta tell you this. I saw The Assassination of Jesse James the other day...It was fantastic. Brad Pitt is great and Casey Affleck definitely gives an oscar worthy performance. It has moved into my #2 spot for 2007. The only knock is that it is LONG as hell but it was worth it.

All my friends said Jesse James was great but they all liked "Blood" better because of DD Lewis's performance which was amazing I must say again.

While yes, it is a romance, AND a musical...if you like The Beatles then this is a GREAT movie to watch with your significant other!

I thoroughly enjoyed it...they really incorporated the music of the Fab 4 very well.

Edit- whats also cool is that every single character is linked with the music of The Beatles...

Two main characters are Jude and Lucy
Lucy's brother Maxwell
Jude and Maxwell's 3 roommates; Sadie, Jo Jo, and Prudence

I had not read anything about it other than reviews so I didn't even know what it was about really. I was impressed with the moral dilemma. I watched it with some friends and we argued over what was right/wrong. I love movies that spark that type of debate, plus I thought it was a well made flick, and entertaining. Casey is coming into his own, and should be a solid actor in years to come.

Having said that, I've now seen most of the oscar nominated movies/performances. I have 3 demands. No Country better win Best Picture. Daniel Day Lewis better win Best Actor. Javier Bardem better win Best Supporting actor.

Best Supporting Actor-Javier Bardem
Best Actress- Cate Blanchett
Best Supporting Actress- Tilda Swinton (not sure about this one)
Best Original Screenplay-Juno
Best Adapted Screenplay-There Will Be Blood

I was suprised that Marie Coittiand (sp) won but I was happy for her. She is smokin too. I thought Julie Christie would get it.

Yea it was really good. Movies like that usually just entertain with some shootouts and car wrecks for a couple of hours and thats it. But Bourne Ultimatum is beyond that I think. Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will reteam early next year on "Shutter Island," a Laeta Kalogridis-scripted adaptation of the Dennis Lehane ("Mystic River," "Gone Baby Gone") novel reports Variety.

Drama is set in 1954, with DiCaprio in final talks to play U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels, who is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island.

The Paramount and Sony Pictures co-production is being rushed forward for a March start of shooting. Filming will likely take place in Massachusetts, Connecticut or Nova Scotia..

Set seventeen years before X-Men, the film will focus on Wolverine's violent past, and his early encounters with William Stryker. The Weapon X program and his interactions with other mutants will be explored, including his complex relationship with Sabretooth/Victor Creed.

It's being directed by Gavin Hood, and stars Hugh Jackman (as Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (as Sabretooth), Danny Huston (as William Stryker), and I just read recently that it will also star Taylor Kitsch (as GAMBIT!) and Ryan Reynolds (as DEADPOOL!). And I also read somewhere that The Blob was in this film... but I forgot where I read it...

They're saying that Deadpool will eventually get his own spinoff film as well. Which, for me, is awesome, cause Deadpool is my favorite anti-hero and Reynolds is my nˇgga.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set to be released May 1, 2009..

Watchmen Leads Set?

July 23, 2007 - With official casting announcements expected to be made this week at the San Diego Comic-Con, rumored casting leaks for Zack Snyder's highly anticipated Watchmen movie are finding their way online.

British actor Matthew Goode has reportedly been cast as Adrian Veidt, a.k.a. Ozymandias, according to IESB.net. Goode's credits include The Lookout, Match Point and Brideshead Revisited.

Another Watchmen role that has reportedly been cast is that of Laurie Juspeczyk, a.k.a. the Silk Spectre II. LatinoReview.com says the part has gone to relatively unknown actress Malin Akerman (The Invasion, HBO's Entourage).

The site also reports that the oft-rumored Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children) has indeed been cast as the masked vigilante Rorschach.

Other reported Watchmen cast members include Patrick Wilson (Hard Candy) as Nite Owl II and Billy Crudup (Almost Famous) as Dr. Manhattan..

UPDATE: DiCaprio to Topline 'Akira', Director Confirmed!
Wednesday, February 20, 2008

UPDATE: AICN adds that Joseph Gordon Levitt (Brick) will play Tetsuo! It was confirmed this afternoon our breaking news from last October (!) that Ruairi Robinson will direct the live-action adaptation of Akira for Warner Bros. Pictures. THR added a little something extra... Leonardo DiCaprio has been tapped to star in what will be a two-part epic! Read on for the entire story.

The anime classic "Akira" is getting the live-action big screen treatment courtesy of Leonardo DiCaprio and Warner Bros.

Ruairi Robinson has been hired to direct what would ideally be a two-part epic. Gary Whitta is writing the adaptation, which DiCaprio will produce via his Appian Way shingle. Andrew Lazar is also producing via his Mad Chance shingle. Jennifer Davisson, who heads up Appian, will also be involved in some producorial capacity.

"Akira" originated in 1988 as a manga and then as an animated film co-written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. The story was set in a neon-lit futuristic post-nuclear war "New Tokyo" in 2019 where a teen biker gang member is subjected to a government experiment which unleashes his latent powers. The gang's leader must find a way to stop the ensuing swathe of destruction.

With its mature themes and cutting-edge animation, "Akira" was a milestone movie in anime and even animation circles, and led the way for anime making inroads into Western pop culture in the 1990s.

"Akira" has long been in development at the company, with producers Jon Peters and Basil Iwanyk involved at various times, as well as directors Stephen Norrington and Pitof. The rights lapsed but Warner managed to re-scoop them again for Robinson, who came to the studio with a vision of a two-part adaptation.

The new story moves the action to "New Manhattan," a city rebuilt by Japanese money.

The studio is eyeing a summer 2009 release for the first movie.

Greg Silverman is overseeing for Warners.

Whitta, repped by UTA and Circle of Confusion, wrote "The Book of Eli," which the Hughes Brothers are directing for Warners and Silver Pictures.

"Akira" would mark the feature directorial debut for Robinson who was nominated for a best animated short Oscar in 2001 for a sci-fi comedy called "Fifty Percent Grey." He also wrote and directed a sci-fi short titled "The Silent City" (watch it at BDTV), Robinson is repped by CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment..

Johnny Depp is currently considering starring in a project to be directed by Michael Mann (Heat) about the Depression-era crime wave.

Mann has long been interested in mounting a screen adaptation of Brian Burrough's nonfiction book "Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34" for Universal; at one point, Leonardo DiCaprio was attached to the project, but DiCaprio is headed into Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island."

But Mann -- who has considered taking the helm of Columbia's spy thriller "Edwin A. Salt," has not committed to that project because he believes it needs a rewrite -- has an open slot.

As for Depp, he was to have starred in Warner/Initial Entertainment's "Shantaram" followed by Warner Independent's "The Rum Diaries," but both of those projects were postponed last month, leaving the star with an opening in his schedule.

So Depp and Mann are sitting down this week to discuss the possibility of joining forces; Depp is said to be eyeing the role of bank robber John Dillinger. Along with Mann, Kevin Misher is on board as producer; Robert De Niro and his partner Jane Rosenthal, who originally optioned the book, have been involved as exec producers; and the studio is looking at a March start in Chicago if all the elements come together..

This is old news, but Johnny Depp is on the movie now.

haha, is that the Gone Baby Gone sequel? I think I heard of that, it takes place in a trailer park in South Carolina and chronicles the life of a fatherless yet fearless private detective who solves all sorts of difficult mysteries.

Starring????? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ed Norton and Jamie Pressley.

Jamie does pull off the trailer trash role better than anyone who is hot.:lust:

Ed Norton is one of the best actors alive I think.

A.) True
2.) I agree wholeheartedly. Exhibit A is American History X, and that just scratches the surface.

X was great

Primal Fear was great because of him. I think Richard Gere is NOT a great actor.

I still kinda hate his character in Rounders because he is so believable.

The Score was good (Norton/Deniro).

and the list goes on. Fight Club anyone??

It was not great but I have seen a lot worse. I was hoping for more. It was "R" and I new they could take the gloves off and make it rough. It seemed a little too goofy and not enough funny.

Not to mention about 10 hot cheerleaders and not any nudity...what gives??

The announcer who plays Pepperfield does a great job though he had they funniest lines of the film.

If you go with a group it could be fun. I was hard on this movie it is no Old School but it did have it's moments.

About a month ago it was announced on the trades that Vin Diesel (http://www.latinoreview.com/news/exclusive-fast-and-the-furious-4-story-details-3412#) and Paul Walker were in negotiations to reunite for the fourth installment of Universal's "Fast and the Furious (http://www.latinoreview.com/news/exclusive-fast-and-the-furious-4-story-details-3412#)" franchise. Justin Lin and Chris Morgan, who were behind "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," are returning to directing and writing duties, respectively.

The story line is being kept under wraps UNTIL NOW. During the Holiday break I was able to read the script and hand it back to its proper owner SO DON'T BOTHER ME OR EMAIL WHETHER OR NOT I HAVE THE SCRIPT. I DON'T.

What I managed for you fine folks was write up the the setup or first act. This is by far the best of the 4 movies in the Fast and the Furious franchise. Its a really good story.

FF4 opens with a flashback from the ending of the first film of Paul Walker’s character BRIAN O’CONNOR letting Vin Diesel’s character DOMINIC TORRETO go free.

The story picks up five years later.

FENIX drives a DEVIL RED DAYTONA and leads for other hot rod cars across the Mexican border to San Yisidro. One of the drivers is Michelle Rodriguez’s character LETTY. The five cars pop the trunks. They were transporting large polymer containers that get loaded onto an 18-wheeler.

Fenix pays Letty and she leaves. Letty heads in her Demon to Los Angeles. Fenix follows her.

We then catch up with BRIAN O’CONNOR at MARICOPA COUNTY JAIL in Arizona. He is now bearded, tattooed, darker and grittier since we last seen him. He is working out in the jail when he stops JUVENAL from getting killed by MS13 gang members. A big fight ensues between Brian and three MS13 assassins.

In the segregation ward, Juvenal tells Brian that JAMES PARK sold him out. That is all that Brian needs to hear. Brian is actually undercover in the prison working with the FBI.

Next in SANTO DOMINGO in THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC we meet TEGO who bops his head to reggaeton in his ’69 EL Camino. Tego rides with HAN from TOKYO DRIFT.

If you recall HAN died in TOKYO DRIFT, so in essence, FF4 is a prequel to TOKYO DRIFT.

Tego and Han catch up with FLORA and MARCO in a tiny run down shack where cars are being worked on. One of the mechanics is DOMINIC TORRETO. Dom is now stronger, harder and more dangerous than before.

Dom and his crew go hijack a tanker on a land train.

Afterwards, at 3am in the industrial part of town, and UNDERGROUND RACE MEET is in full swing. Dom receives a phone call from his sister MIA. Something happened to Letty.

She’s dead!

In Juarez, Mexico, Dom hooks up with CHUCHO at a garage. Dom gets his 7O’s SS Chevele – the same car we seen him with at the end of Fast and Furious. Jason Bourne may have a locker in every country, but Dom has a garage.

Using a fake passport under the surname ALVAREZ, Dom drives in through the border through El Paso, Texas.

At a cemetery in Los Angeles, Dom attends LETTY’s funeral on the dl. A gathering of racers are there including Dom’s sister MIA TORRETO (Jordana Brewster).

Dom watches the funeral from a distance to avoid being made by the cops. A voice tells Dom he shouldn’t be here. It’s Brian O’Connor. When Dom crossed the border he tipped off alarms. Facial recognition software matched him ten minutes after he was through. The cops are after Dom. Brian is not there to arrest Dom but to attend Letty’s funeral since she was Brian’s friend too.

Brian tells Dom that when he bailed to Mexico, Letty tried to hold it down. The garage, the crew. Letty needed money so she started making runs across the border with a team working for ANOTNIO BRAGA.

Braga is a major player down south. Last year, he moved more heroin across the border than Pablo Escoba did in ten years. Braga uses tuner cars for mules. All this and no one has ever laid eyes on Braga.

The Feds have been after Braga for years but can’t touch him south of the border. Brian tells Dom he is going to get the guys who killed Letty.

Dom replies – not if he gets them first.
So there you have it, the setup for FF4 is that Brian and Dom must infiltrate the Braga organization to find out who killed Letty and why.
Good to see that most of the original cast is back for this project..I might go see it.

The 2nd one sucked, and the 3rd one was ****ing awful.

But if they are going to do another one, it needed to be with the original cast..

I gotta agree with you though. The first one was crap. The second two should've went straight to DVD.
