Take-Two Interactive's chairman Strauss Zelnick still won't spill the beans about the exact release date of the much-awaited - and much-delayed - Grand Theft Auto 4 for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. We currently know that the game is going to be released sometime in Spring next year, though the gaming public is still in the dark about when exactly .

Zelnick said that they will announce the date only when they're sure that the game is ready for release. "Right now our view is to put out a high quality title and we're not in the business of disappointing investors," he added.

The chairman said that he is not concerned about Grand Theft Auto 4 missing a high-revenue Christmas release, saying that GTA4's reputation alone as a must-have title will be enough to make it successful in terms of sales.

As for Grand Theft Auto 4's downloadable content, Zelnick said that while it's going to be available, it will not be very significant and Take Two will not rely on the game's exclusive downloadable content for revenue.

Developers are really starting to piss me off with all the push backs. If there is one thing the movie industry does correctly, they don't overhype something before it is ready. Now a days, video game company's start the hype engine way to early. They need to wait untill they have a clear completion date and then start up. Why get the fans ramped up, only to tell them it will be another 6 months or so?

Tired of reading about Take-Two Interactive's financial results? Well, here's one additional tidbit from Gamespot that might catch your fancy. Take-Two recently confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 4 would be coming out simultaneously on the Xbox 360 and PS3 within the next two to three months.

Gamespot apparently had a conference call with Take-Two, and they reaffirmed that the game would come out on the two consoles sometime between February and March of next year. They also noted that the Xbox 360 version would receive downloadable content into the fiscal year 2009.

Related to this, Gamespot also asked Take-Two if the game will be seeing a Wii release. The Take-Two representative they were in contact with had this to say on the matter: "I think there are other titles that are better suited to the Wii than Grand Theft Auto 4."

thats what I loved about Vice City. Get a vantage point by a street corner, break out the sniper rifle and pop a few pedestrians, get 3 stars and jack the police Banshee. hit the pay/spray and pull some stunts with the siren on. if you're stressed after all that, you need a little :cocky::cocky::woo:

During the latest Major Nelson podcast featured on the Xbox Live website, Microsoft's Vice President of Interactive Entertainment Don Mattrick mentioned that the multiplayer elements of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360, PS3) might possibly be an Xbox 360 exclusive.

While discussing the details for the upcoming title's Xbox 360 version, he let slip a subtle comment which may lead many to believe that the game's multiplayer support will be an exclusive feature on Microsoft's next-gen console. He was quoted saying:

It's an amazing piece of software, and I'm really excited with its downloadable content and online multiplayer support - again, that's something that's unique to 360. We think consumers are going to love that, and it's going to create what I would describe, again, as the premium experience on our platform.

However, it was confirmed that this rather confusing statement was merely an honest mix-up on Mattrick's part. Rockstar made a follow up statement to CVG saying that "both versions of Grand Theft Auto IV will have an online multiplayer component".

PS3 players should breathe a sigh of relief now and be content with the fact that all the major features will still make it on both versions of the game. The only real difference between the two consoles would be the episodic downloadable content which was confirmed to be an Xbox 360 exclusive.

In any case, everyone should be expecting Grand Theft Auto IVto hit stores this April 29. In the meantime, make sure to keep coming back for more updates from the game as we get them.

Rockstar hasn't revealed anything about the details of online play. All they've said is that online play of some sort will be incorporated. There have been rumors lately about the online component, but Rockstar denied them and said information will be revealed later on.

Oh Spur, that event infuriated me. Microsoft intentionally, yes intentionally, tries to confuse the consumer.

It wasn't too long ago that they said, "If you want to play Halo 3 and GTA IV, you can only do it on the X360."

They're playing on words. They said if you want to play BOTH, you can only do it on the X360. People at that time were confused thinking that means GTA IV is exclusive to X360. It's the "and".

Rockstar has pretty much confirmed that there is likely to never be a demo of Grand Theft Auto IV to hit the PlayStation Network. According to a Rockstar representative, they feel that a demo wouldn't be worth the time and effort and that they'd much rather put their time into delivering a beautiful game. We can only thank them for that much, though a demo would be great, we'd much rather have a nicely polished title to enjoy fully at the end of April.

"I'm sure there won't be. If there was we would have talked about it. With a game like this the guys at Rockstar North will want to spend every minute making the game look great. Most people know the concept of GTA anyway. I don't know that the demo is worth the time and effort."

He also added in the following, "Also much of GTA 4 is the driving around and we wouldn't be able to give out the whole city. We would have to give away half the game for free. People would think Liberty City is a tiny city. You run into problems."

On top of having a massive open-ended world to be your new playground, Rockstar has given its gamers a huge amount of pure story to play with as well. According to Rockstar, if you take your time and answer your phone regularly, Grand Theft Auto IV could potentially last roughly 100 hours worth of actual story gameplay.

"If you're not in a rush and you answer the phone when it rings it'll take about 100 hours to complete", a Rockstar representative said. "It's harder to distinguish between main and side missions - there are loads of both. But there are more main missions than side missions. It's not as clear cut as it used to be because of the phone."

It has been known for awhile that GTA IV will heavily focus around Niko's phone, so it's no surprise that the game has the potential to be lengthy, but 100 hours was rather unexpected. But what I didn’t realize was that all of his dead weight would press down on the gas pedal, which caused the cab to barrel down on me and slam me into a wall.

-Dramatic vehicle jumps from previous games return.

-A GPS system will tell you the optimal route for arriving at a mission checkpoint.
-You can plant waypoints anywhere in the city.

-The wanted rating can go up to six stars.

-Customization is restricted to clothing changes--no afros or anything like that.

-The fighting style Niko uses is krav maga.

-You can take a taxi or ride the subway to get to various points on the map. You can sit back and enjoy the ride or immediately jump from one point to the next.

- There is no car customization, nor can you store things in cars.

- The controls seem to work pretty well, and the driving controls have mostly been entirely retooled.

- Driving phsyics have been retooled. Now when turning around corners, you will have to use your regular break and then your hand break, other wise your car may turn over.

- Car damage is more realistic now. Various parts of the car can be damaged, making it hard to drive in certain situations. For instance, if your tires get bent from an accident, it is much harder to drive after the fact.

- The game's story is longer than San Andreas and should take around 100 hours if you take your time and do every thing.

- Vigilante missions are back.

I Remember vice city had to be changed after the initial release because some groups didn't like the gang wars between the specifically listed cubans and Haitians.

I thought it was pretty cool to have an original copy that wasn't edited to remove those names.

Actually, there's a GPS in the game. Cars have it, and as you get more luxury cars, they will actually use audio to tell you where to go.

Your phone will serve as a GPS. I don't know if this is the first phone you get though. I know you can upgrade the phone as you play through the game. One of the more advanced will allow you to listen to the radio and mp3 files on your HDD as you walk across the city.

Basically the functions you would have in a vehicle but on foot.

The PSP GTA's had it. The first Xbox GTA's had it. I don't see a reason why not for PS3.

I'm 95% certain it's in there.

It's like when you're in a car (or on foot) and you can turn to a specific station on which you'll listen to the uploaded music.

Really? I don't think you were supposed to be able to catch him, a couple times I got really close and then he pulled like a block ahead of me out of nowhere. I'm not a big fan of that "dodge and disarm" move when fighting hand to hand though, it was pretty tough to do.

If you go into the "options" on the cell phone you can make the text larger. And I turned the overall volume down on the music, you can do that from the pause menu.

I remember reading that there were a lot of custom options in multiplayer, so whoever created that particular game you were in probably turned them off. I haven't had a chance to try the multiplayer yet, but 16 people in this huge ass city could be chaotic (and hard to find).

Rockstar decided not to include that custom radio station in both versions of the game.

I'm sure it was something to do with the huge amount of resources required to run the game in terms of cache and memory utilization.

This is the first GTA game that I've actually owned, and even though I don't always like the driving physics in this series, this is one badass game.

Anyone else had a semi truck's doors open up on them?

I was in a car chase mission "search and delete" and the target ran into the back of the semi truck. The doors swung open and a bunch of barrels and other junk came flying out. It was quite the distraction.

Awesome level of detail though.

I have ridden dirt bikes for years now and I would think they would have made the control for them MUCH SHARPER

The control is there. You have to be conscious of which way you are leaning. Leaning forward to much and your weight will be distributed away from back tire, thus less traction and control. If you stay up right you will get that control back.

You need to practice more. Maybe go through the tutorial with the bike again.

im just gonna be honest. the ONLY problem i have with this game IS the driving for all vehicles! but thats what the taxis are for!

I think most of the cars control great, once you learn how to drive them. It's definitely not a perfect driving model, but it's fun and each car handles differently. I'm a big fan on the bike...it's the only way to chase down a target.

Nah, the best car is this old Challenger looking number. I found it on the side of the road a few blocks from the safe house. It is red, fully restored, and has a massive hood scoop.

The sucker can hall ass and corner like a beast. I only use it for joy rides, but it is fantastic.

There is another car that looks like a chrysler 300 that drives really well.

Played some more the last few days and I just can't master the driving as I get my ass kicked with the Brucie race which is my first car race

I never struggled with the driving the previous few GTA games either so I am surprised

I will keep plugging away though

It's easier than you think. Stay back from the A.I. and let them hit themselves, then pass. At that point you should be 2nd or 3rd. Be patient and take the corners at steady speeds to avoid sliding everywhere. Eventually, you will get to the back end of the course (long straight --> curve --> home stretch). Pass the remaining cars and win (do NOT get too close to them when passing).

I haven't tried it as I haven't had problems with GTA, but it's worth a try.

I enjoy thisa game, much more richa dn deeper than previous..

although the accent is very strong and makes it difficult to understand

I wish teh txts were larger and the emails were larger

its hard on my eyes...lol

that accent is startin to bother me! haha. i think you can make the text larger by going to the options menu on your cell phone. hope that helps
