Everett agree to terms on one-year contract
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins and shortstop Adam Everett agreed to terms on a one-year contract on Thursday, a day after he was non-tendered by the Houston Astros.The 30-year-old Everett is a slick fielder but a light hitter with a .248 career average. He broke his right leg last season and was limited to 66 games, batting .232 with 15 RBIs in 220 at-bats.Everett became expendable with the Astros after they sent five players to the Baltimore Orioles for All-Star shortstop Miguel Tejada.The Twins have plenty of players in the mix at second base, shortstop and third base but no clear favorite at any of those spots yet. Brendan Harris, Nick Punto and Alexi Casilla are all capable of playing those three positions.
