Just read on another board a thread started by a poster close to the stadium that Hyman and Sorensen never proposed the Victory Tower at the stadium in their construction plans. Looks like these tow clowns were blowing a lot of smoke up our rears and have made cuts although the poster did not know specifically what was being cut.
As usual Carolina has an opportunity to build a premier facility and as usual they instead opt for the half assed approach. Looks like these clowns never ever learn. Good riddance to Sorensen. He needs to take Hyman with him.
Here is the post:
Stadium Construction starts finally on Monday .... (javascript:window.location.href=('compose.asp?sid =1017&fid=1656&style=2&rid=108410688&tid=108410688');) with the issuance of the Notice to Proceed to the general contractor, Contract Construction. How many years have we been waiting for that day to get here?
And I believe some of you need to know that after all the final negotiating was completed with the general contractor $3.5 million had been cut from the scope of work that was bid on. I don't know the exact finite list of items that were cut / value engineered. I do know however that the "VICTORY TOWER" was not included in the project. In fact the tower was not even on the plans that went out for bids. The tower that shows up on all the renderings and in all the publicity photos is apparently just a hoax. The facilities department, architects, and administation was blowing smoke up our rears.
I believe this administration / USC facilities department has let us down folks. I know we will have a nice park ......but I think you will see things that make you think it could have been done better. The little cut corners that separate it from a premier park and a nice park. I work in construction and I know some of the items cut will never be noticed by the general public. But I also know when you post bid negiotiate with a contractor you get about $.60 cents on the $1 in credit back for anything you cut. So if the actual amount cut out of the scope equated to $3.5 million then we are probably looking at least $4.5 - 5 million in actual value cut from the project. I guess time will tell what actually was cut ....then again some things that may appear to have been cut may not have ever been in the project to begin with (i.e. The Tower)
