View Full Version : Guitar Hero IV in 2008?
http://www.psu.com/Guitar-Hero-IV-in-2008--a0002656-p0.php
The Guitar Hero franchise has been a hit success and the latest title has been flying off the shelves as the game proves to still be in great demand after being released a little over two months ago. Although Activision has put together a great formula for success, they are not ready to sit around and watch, or so says rock group, The Answer.
The unlikely announcement of the next Guitar Hero game came from the band after being picked out at the Marché international de l'édition musicale (or Midem conference) held at the end of January. Their song "Never Too Late" was picked by Activision and their panel of experts to be featured in Guitar Hero IV. Over 200 songs were submitted and 20 were picked including the one from The Answer.
The Answer are obviously excited to have their song in the game as the sales of the game and its downloadable content have boosted featured band's sales incredibly.
"This is a tremendous honour and privilege for both The Answer and the Alberts label," said James Cassidy, UK boss of music label Alberts. "With a new album due later this year we look forward to taking the band to a whole new level of international success."
Guitar Hero IV is expected to be released at the end of 2008.

Unless they improve the game somehow I'd rather spend $60 in Rock Band DLC than buy another GH. More bang for your buck anyway.

unless Harmonix is making it... I doubt it. I'd rent it, but wouldn't buy.

I love Rock Band about 200 times more, I'm just afraid to play it. I'm afraid I'm going to break it. The Guitar Hero controller is made so much more well.

If you just recently got RB, I'd say you're probably OK. I got mine the day it came out, and my guitar broke. 2 days later my new guitar came in and all was well. Play the piss out of it. Better to break it now while under warranty than to do it later. :D
No problems with my drums or mic. *knocks on wood*

No problems with my drums or mic. *knocks on wood*Yeah, it already feels like I have to strum harder and harder with each song. I hate that friggin guitar. It sucks so much that you cant use a Guitar Hero controller on Rock Band with the PS3.

They haven't fixed that yet?? Damn. I guess I'm spoiled using my GH2/3 guitars w/ Rockband. To be honest, though, I rather like the Fender. The strum bar isn't exactly ideal to me, but I absolutely love the effects switch and the high-fret buttons.

I agree. It feels like I have to do the same thing. There is times when I'm doing fine and then other times it's like I miss every note. I really wish they would release that patch but I guess that will never happen.

I think both games a great. And as far as releasing a new game, in my opinion they should release a new one every six months or so with new songs on it...in the 20-30 dollar price range. I mean, the game doesn't really change much- it is the songs that people care about because you get bored after awhile with the same ones. I know you can download them, but having a new package on a CD would help consumers and ease the process.

Problem with that though, is that if EA can get away with charging $60 for Madden and NCAA, why can't activision charge similar for GH every few months/once a year? Also, I wonder if most of the costs associated with these games are due to licensing issues. Some music labels are really greedy.

Well although Madden and NCAA don't have HUGE changes every year...I think they have enough to justify for a new price every year, especially in the years when the graphics and reality of the players improves.
I mean, GH just doesn't really change. Most people can play the PS2 version and not know if it is PS3, Xbox360, or on Wii. The graphics are simple and look pretty much the same.
I see what you are saying though.

i don't really care what they do with the GH series, but i seriously hope they are not planning a new rock band game anytime soon.....i have a metric F-ton of downloaded content and i don't wanna lose that just to have a new game.
i'd much rather keep the same rock band game for the next couple of years and just download new songs every week.

Yeah there is definitely truth to this. My guitar sucked from the beginning, and is slowly becoming less and less functional. I can't even strum down anymore, only up. Oh well, I only really play drums anyways.

either way downloaded or by disc, i think new material should be released constantly and consistently. to be honest, GH and RockBand should both be a type of game where one game on disc is released and for years on into the future more songs and updates should go through downloads.
