Well it looks like we won't be getting a college baseball game this year. I was looking forward to a next gen one if hopes of them actually getting rosters right, but guess not.

EA Benches MVP

EA Sports to take a hiatus from baseball in 2008.

Sources from EA Sports have confirmed to GameTap that EA will not be releasing a baseball game in 2008.

Will we ever see another college baseball game?

This is disappointing news to gamers who for years have touted EA's MVP engine as the best in the business, even after the gaming giant lost the Major League Baseball license back in 2005, forcing a move to the college game.

According to the source, however, EA's two-year licensing deal with the NCAA has expired, and while the company acknowledges the sport of baseball as being a vital piece of the market, EA Sports is taking a year off to evaluate any future plans concerning the fate of the MVP series.

i have my doubts that they'll ever fully embrace the college game......

it sucks. their first college baseball game was amazing (aside from the outdated roster).

their second college baseball game was a steaming pile of poo, though.....if they were gonna rehash that, i'm glad they are staying away.

Yeah it was pretty ridiculous last year. They only put it on PS2 and they gave us the roster for Oregon State since they were the team ranked what we were that year or something. I hope they take off this year and come back next year with some actual research and a new game.

I was lookin' forward to it this year, but oh well. I hope someone picks it up and updates the game to better standards.

to me the first and the second were just as good as each other...i could hardly tell a difference in the games. only problem in each game was that the rosters were screwed up. i like 07 the best honestly.

i thought the gameplay in the 2nd one felt a bit "off"......maybe it was just me, but it just didn't feel the same.

add the inexcusable rosters to the above, and for me the game was unplayable.
