This is a great move for Atlanta. Their starting 5 is pretty sick IMO:

I didn't know Bibby was still so young, he is only 28 or 29. I really thought he was in his 30's. He is making me feel so old.

If I had to guess I would say some expiring contracts that will free up some cap space after this year is over so they can begin the rebuilding process in free agency. I wouldn't be surprised to see them maybe try to do the same thing with Artest. They are still a few years out of being a serious contender if everything goes right for them so it would make sense to free up some cap space for when that time comes they have a bigger window of opportunity.

yeah i like the hawks starting lineup but their bench is terrible, it was terrible prior to the trade however. actually i didnt know josh childress was playing that well, off the bench avg 12.2 ppg 58.7 fg pct, not a good 3 point shooter at 25% has some good numbers with zero starts but he's averaging 30 minutes a game so that might be semantics. bibby can shoot from the outside, bad thing is joe johnson who's done it with any consistency this year, and lue and johnson while both being journeymen, both shot 43% from 3 point land this year. only one person on the team shooting over 50% from the field. atlanta is in the 9th spot right now but theyre two games ahead of the 7th and 8th teams in the loss column. they'll probably pass new jersey and philly the 2nd half of the season but as washington gets healthy they won't pass them so they're probably looking at the 7th seed and getting swept in the first round by detroit
