Kimbo beat the piss out of him. Would have been even shorter had the ref not pulled him off 5 seconds in...

Kimbo is slowly starting to impress me. He should have at the very least been deducted a point for the behind the head shots. He has crisp standup, I'm just waiting on someone to take him down.
man ... just watched it ... Kimbo is one of the best stand up figthers i've ever seen ... i'm sure he's making some good money in whatever that league is ... but i can promise you Dana White and the UFC is keeping a very close eye out for Kimbo ... they're waiting to see if he has a ground game before they bring him in ... money and contract will NOT be an issue either ... Dana is a brilliant business man ... and he knows Kimbo would bring BIG MONEY and even more attention and spot light to the UFC ... but he wont waste the time and do it just for the attention ... he wants to make sure he's a real fighter first

Yeah I like Kimbo, been watching him for a long time now. I just think he is gonna have to fight some people who show he is more worthy of the big time...although I definitely feel like he can compete. Tank just isn't in it anymore...he is old and wore out.

Not "officially" But his stand up and conditioning are for real. What can he do on the ground?
I know he has been trained by the best. Bas Rutten (sp?)
I cannot wait for the Frank Shamrock vs. Cung Li fight. Cung Li has the best stand up I have ever seen, except Bruce Lee (although that was all for the movies).

Kimbo is an absolute animal. I think the UFC is waiting to see if he can exhibit more discipline before they offer him a contract. There's been several times where he has gotten in the ref's faces and looked like he was ready to punch the ref. Plus, he's so brutal I could actually see him possibly killing someone in the ring someday. When the ref's try to seperate him and another fighter, you can just tell he wants to keep pounding and pounding on the guy and it takes everything he's got to stop himself. If he works on that discipline and becomes an HONORABLE fighter, I think his future could be very bright indeed.

I see what youre saying about the refs... but thats how he works... if you see in his streetfighting vids, he dont let anything get in the way. but at the same time, he knows his limits and the limitations... he has such a control over his rage and passion... so if it appears hes going to beat down a ref, hes not... thats his style, thats always been his style... He just want to get in, finish the job, and move on... And about the UFC, If I was Dana White, this is what I would do... I would sit back, and continue to watch Kimbo move up in the ranks... I will want to see him fight the up-comers and not moreso the big names, to make a name for himself... and once he has really proven himself to be that name, I would give him the contract... And with such an "unorthodox(sp?)" fighting style, in the since that the MMA has such a diverse and yet known style of fighthing, with Kimbo, you get more street that was inhanced with MMA techniques, I would make sure that he is going to be the new face of it... ya know?

Brock v Kimbo would be two really big mothers in one cage.standup edge to kimbo but brock would just ground and pound for the win.
No, because it was against Rey Mercer.
my thought exactly ... Mercer was expecting what EVERYONE wanted ... and that was a slug fest ... it was promoted as 2 major heavyweight sluggers swinging for the fences ... Kimbo saw the take down and had be practicing it ... and took him to the ground
That white guy Gannon kicked his ass
you also have to take into account ... that fight lasted nearly an hour ... there was no rounds ... just fighting till someone got knocked out ... in a cage with rounds to get a breathe ... i'd like to see that fight
Kimbo will get killed in the ufc...
wouldn't go that far ... just because we haven't really seen Kimbo on the ground much ... doesn't mean he doesn't have the skill ... he's been practicing for it a lot ... he'd just rather knock someone the **** out ... then go to the ground ... if you don't have to use the ground work ... why show it off?? let everyone think all you can do is throw punches ... then when they go to the ground with you ... beat their ass there too

It wouldn't have lasted long if Kimbo didn't have a posse. Last I read Sean Gannon retired after being beaten to a bloody pulp by Brandon Lee Hinkle in the UFC.

That's not entirely true either. He said he'd stand with Rey Mercer, but he didn't. The sad thing about it is there were great fights earlier. Silva vs Rodriguez and Berto vs Edwards were great, and Scott Smith's brutal KO earlier in the night was a thing of beauty.
Back to Kimbo, supposedly he's going to fight Ken Shamrock next (I guess he's going to fight every fighter in the UFC Hall of Fame). His standup is pretty crisp, but you can't learn ground work in a couple years. You saw Brock Lesnar (a lifer in wrestling) get submitted.

If the matchmaking is right, they can build a star. He had the crowd eating out his hands. He was pretty savy in the ring. Making sure he had enough distance.
They better not match him up with either of the two guys that fought before him.

well on the Brock fight ... he got sloppy ... that was a rookie misstake ... he'll learn from that ... he was focused on beating the shit out of Mir (and was doing just that) ... and left his body (leg) open ... once he's fought a couple of times and learns control he will be much better ... i wouldn't say he's been a life long wrestler and got submitted cause it's a new world ... he just made a rookie misstake
back on Kimbo ... hell i'd say i would punch with Mercer too and then take him down ... it's smart ... hell it's war in there ... you do what you have to to win ... who cares if you told him you would stand up

I remeber telling you he was a bum, but he's slowly getting my attention. They are progressively given him a stepup each fight, and Ken Shamrock is long in the tooth but has 10 times the skill of anyone else he's fought. Shammy should be able to take him down if he wants to, I hope he doesn't stand with him.

Chill out bro. Give the man some damn time, he has only fought a couple fights professionally. From the videos I have seen over the years and his fights so far...nothing has said "bum" to me. Rather it has told me that he is gonna be a force to be reckoned with...whether he is fighting someone great or the big guy. No rookie goes in and starts banging with the big boys...give it some time.

You are right he ACTS out of control until the match is called then he is the first to walk up and make sure the guy he is fighting is ok. Watch some of the youtube videos. He acts heartless in the fight then when they give up or are out he makes sure they are ok. He switches frames of mind really well. If he can keep it to a stand up fight not many people can beat him. I still don't know how his ground game will end up and he will have to face a mat profesional or two and if he isn't careful or he will have broken limbs, he has said that he won't submit and that they will have to break his arm. We all know it's happened before and it doesn't take that long.

I said I'm coming full circle, before I thought he was just another bum. Sorry but fighting Jose and Cornbread from Miami isn't going to impress me a whole lot. I still haven't seen anything that has "force" written on it. And while Tank is a decent name for his resume, he is still Tank and his career speaks for itself.

Anyhow, when did I say that? In skin color they are similar, their level of fitness with respect to size is similar in my eyes, they have identical frames and just REMIND ME (note: personal opinion, and someone did agree) of each other. I don't have a scientific reason why. Hell, for some reason John Candy reminds me of John Goodman...I can't explain why but they are both just fat.

Does someone have a dirty diaper? If someone asks how big Kimbo is, and it's posted he's 268 lbs then should I just let the false information continue? If someone says Frank Shamrock is a lot better than Ken Shamrock, and Frank Shamrock doesn't even say that should I also let it go. I can handle discussion. I've been on this site for about 3 years now and after over 4,500 posts...I'd say I have participated in a few of them. I just think you are very aggravating and annoying. Your posts are usually pessemistic and usually have the same point...to put someone's opinion down or correct a detail in what someone said. No one wants to read that shit from every post you make. Trust me, I am not the only one.
And don't even make the "all black people look alike" case against me. Once again, someone agreed with me and regardless...it was my opinion. Not a fact. Just like the other opinions you have interpreted as fact.
I will ignore your posts as I have just found the block feature. I just think it is sad that someone has to block someone's posts on a message board, but it is what it is. I am pretty confident that no one has found it necessary to do the same to me.
Peace.

only issue there is weight classes ... Kimbo wouldn't be able to get down to Light Heavyweight ... and i wouldn't see Rampage being able to fight comfortably with much more weight on him ... it'd be a helluva fight if they just said "**** it lets go" ... and it wasn't a weight class fight ... don't see if happening but agree i think it'd be a good fight ... like someone else said ... i'd like to see Tyson vs. Kimbo too

Yeah he said that we he was young and his big (not blood related bro) would push him around. Frank was out weighed back then by 40+lbs.
Look at thier careers. It is not close. Ken beat Pat Smith by ankle lock in UFC #2? and went the distance the second time with Royce Gracie and beat Kimo years ago. Other than that he has a career of getting beat up by Tito.
Frank did not lose a fight for 10 years and would wipe the floor with Ken now.
By the way Sapp and Kimbo do look alike . I don't know what you are looking at.
They do not look similar in the ring fighting though because Kimbo actually does have technique.

only issue there is weight classes ... Kimbo too
i wouldn't be surprised if it happened...Tyson can get up to 230/240 if he needed to. only problem is his height and lack of reach.
i love Tyson, especially from back in the day...but i hate to admit that I think Kimbo would stomp him. stomp him bad.

I didn't say anyone wasn't entitled to an opinion, I gave little facts on some of the responses.
Fact is he doesn't weigh 268
Fact is Frank by his own admission isn't better than Ken
Fact is Kimbo and Bob Sapp have nothing but the color of their skin as a similarity.
Fact is maybe I should of chose another topic, and let some people buy into the hype that is Kimbo Slice. Because I once heard he was 6-5 and nearly 300 lbs. I thought it might be a refreshing change of pace from the arrests, and the basketball team.

It would be awesome to see just a nasty throw down between them two!
They both can box, but rampage has got all the submussion moves also. It would be a good one.

oh sorry oh greatful streetfighter god ... but please go back and rewatch every Kimbo fight on youtube ... even when Kimbo would knock down the guy they would not allow him to jump on the person (a rule) ... they would count someone out (another rule) ... no nut shots (yet another)
p.s. doesn't have to be a "sanctioned event" to have rules
Kimbo's never claimed Gannon did anything illegal, and Gannon hasn't either. Only the people that protested are his leeching handlers at the time. I didn't claim to be god of anything.

They were talking to Frank not long ago on HDnet about building a fight with his bro and He said then that he would whip Ken..for the right amount of money.lol

Did anyone know that Kimbo has a son...named Kevlar? Pretty tough name to live up to.

i never said Gannon did anything illegal ... the only thing i ever said with this fight was that i'd like to see a rematch with rounds and such ... not sure how the Gannon fight is all of a sudden thrown back into the picture

He didn't lose a fight in 10 years? He was retired for 2 3 year spans, and came out of retirement for a check. And while Ken hasn't faired well lately, he hasn't been fighting the stiffs that Frank has. Although I think he dispenses the grudge match with Cung Lee fairly easily.
And you should really check out www.twopair.com (http://www.twopair.com).
for all the Ken and Frank talk ... Ken was a BEAST in his prime ... lets not forget all the fight with Dan The Beast, Kimo, well hell ... pretty much every person that is concidered a Legend of MMA ... Ken fought and used to beat ... he's past his prime ... Tito owns him ... but i wouldn't say he's that bad of a fighter
Frank is a helluva fighter also ... it'd really be hard to say who's the best between the two because i do believe they're in different weight classes also ... Ken through on a TON of muscle mass/weight of the years which pushed him up the weight class ... and i think that's what really hurt his career ... but the name Shamerock is one of the best in the sport

If it was against the rules don't you think Kimbo would have said something? The rematch with Gannon has been mentioned as possibilty for Kimbo, and I hope it doesn't happen especially if they want to develop into more than a sideshow. Which they can do, since the heavyweight division in general is pretty weak. Even with me saying that, part of me would like to see the ultimate sideshow that would be Kimbo vs Butterbean.

You remember how cool it looked when Kimo made his way to ring back in the early UFC's, the one where he gave Royce a run for his money?
Both the Shamrock's had there era, and really were probably the first true Mixed Martial Artists. I think that if Tito fought Frank in the trilogy instead of Ken the outcome would be the same. The Tito Frank beat, wasn't the same Tito Ken was crushed by. There wasn't a need for a part II, let alone a part three. I don't know if I've ever seen a face lumped like Ken's was after their first fight.

You are correct. Frank would f*** Ken up bad nowadays, and Frank and Ken would both admit that... And Bob Sapp and Kimbo do resemble one another in the way they are built. They both have massive, rounded shoulders and are barrel chested and both carry themselves in the same way. Sapp is bigger and thicker, but Kimbo does remind me of a "Mini-Sapp". And 97srad750, stop disagreeing with peoples opinions. And actually, when Kimbo fought Tank, they announced Kimbo as 268 (or so) pounds.. I remember, because I was surprised he was that heavy
EDIT** That quote ^ came out weird.. I was trying to agree with Regalcock, not 97srad750

This is off of the Kimbo Slice website. Take it for what it's worth about there being no "rules" in his street fights:
Kimbo Slice Street Fight Rules:
1.This is not a mixed martial art or a street fight
2.Only punching allowed (no elbows, knees, kicks, etc.)
3.Stand up fighting only
4.No holding or grappling with opponent is allowed
5.If someone is knocked down he has thirty seconds to get up and continue fighting
6.Ways to win are KO, thirty second count out, and if the other guy quits
Exceptions:
The rules of the Sean Gannon fight are in dispute. Kimbo's crew says it was a typical Kimbo Slice fight (see rules above). Gannon has posted on a forum that Kimbo's crew said only no ground fighting and submissions but said nothing about standing submissions. Gannon is quoted as saying, "It's not my fault Kimbo's crew is ignorant of mma techniques and styles." In the fight verse the bouncer, Kimbo Slice was upset that the bouncer stepped on his shoe, causing him to fall. When the bouncer is knocked down, he stays down for two minutes while Kimbo's crew tells him to get up and the fight continues. He gets up and is promptly knocked down again. In the latest video, Chico only gets a ten count before he is disqualified unlike the usual thirty seconds other opponents get.

Yeah gannon did go for submissions, but if you watch the fight Kimbo goes for two take downs prior to sean using the guilotine on him. Although the knee was illegal.

I don't care what they announced him as, he weighed in at 234. You can take that up with the athletic commission.
And as far as the Shamrocks, Ken was just interviewed on Inside MMA about the "rumor" of a Shamrock versus Shamrock fight and Ken did not echo your sentiments above.
It's a message board, and it's littered with people disagreeing with other's opinion. Deal with it.

Another fighter calling out Kimbo. It seems they have several matchup options. Good style matchup for both guys.
Former UFC fighter Paul Buentello
"Buentello also issued an open challenge to Kimbo Slice recently. there's not loads of rumours yet on Kimbo's next fight, although i heard Ken Shamrock vs Kimbo being talked about seeing as Shamrock is now signed to Elite XC, and is fighting in the Cage Rage event in early March and could fight Kimbo if he is successful. Paul Buentello claims that Kimbo is unproven and would get beaten by a real MMA fighter (like Gannon perhaps?), and that Kimbo hasn't done anything impressive, he's only KO'd guys that Paul has KO'd himself (Tank)."
