...I will try to keep all posted and up to date on fish caught and weight....that is if anyone cares...I know we have a few bass anglers on here and will be intrested to know what is up with the Pros.............As of 8 am....three pros have already have a 5 fish limit in the live wells...so far the largest combined weight is around 11 lbs.......Gerald Swindle has 4 fish weighing in at around 9 pounds......Ill give frequent checks until I see if anyone on the board is intrested.......I feel these guys are gonna have a ruff time this weekend with figuring out where the bass are gonna be....All this crazy weather is gonna drive them crazy......I was up there in Anderson earlier this week and some guys that fish Hartwell all the time said if somebody catches a combined 3 day total of 60 lbs they would be surprised.....Just to give you an example of how low that is the BASS Classic is usally wonin upwards to 85 to 93 lbs..unless it is being held in some nawthn state........Let me know what you thing and hope you enjoy..

Update 5 min ago......Cliff Pace from Erie Pa just took the lead with a 4lb catch....gives him a limit and a total of 15lbs in the live well....Really surprised these guys are already culling this early in the day.....I fished in a tourney Sat and caught all my bass by 11am and never got bitten again.....Could happen to these guys today....

the mike and mike show is there in the marina...Yep they are at Portmans Marina...very nice place....to bad Andreson did not have a big enough place for the weigh in alot of folks thought they could do it in Little John but timing against the BB schedule and it is not big enough to handle the crowds forced them to do it in G-ville...The fish have about a 1 hour ride to the Bi-Hi Center....could be a factor with dying fish....

The Weather Channel was talking about the lake levels at Hartwell this morning. Is the lake starting to recover from the drought and do you think the lake levels will hurt these guys much?

The Weather Channel was talking about the lake levels at Hartwell this morning. Is the lake starting to recover from the drought and do you think the lake levels will hurt these guys much?...Nope...lake is down around 9 feet now...It has came up consideralby since December........It really wont bother the guys to much cause it is way before the Spawning season so these bass are gonna be deep.....I figure the water temp is in the Mid 50s or below so they wont be hanging tight to the shore....They will be near deep water cover such as down trees..sunken boats..ect...I expect the pros are casting Drop Shot Rigs...Big Jigs...and slow rollin Spinner Baits and maybe some deep diving Crank Baits the color of blue shad...

Right on, thanks.

It's rainin' down there today isn't it?....yea....Funny you ask...Some dumb ass reporter from the Anderson Independent Newspaper...Dressed in his fashion of Circa Clempzun early 80s attire..ie paws all over his uringe shirt asked Kevin Van Damn how he thought the rain would effect the fish...???...KVDs response was...not a damn bit my friend them fish are already wet..........:rotfl: :rotfl: ...brought the house down....

As of 9am....Pace is now leading with 16 pounds
Bobby Lane has a limit of 5 fish in at 13 lbs
Alton Jones has a limit of 5 with 11 1/2 lbs
The report that I am getting are that the fish are suprisingly being caught in the lower lake and the guys fishing up in the Seneca River and the Toogula(sp?)River are not doing squat...I think the water has already gotten muddled up in the rivers and it hasnt reached down to the lower lake...but bet you by tommorrow that lake with be stirred up something terrible and those bass in that lake dont like it one bit...they are used to clear to dingy water and if it gets darker than that...it turn the lights out and start cussing....

smoovecock

Classic!...Thought so too.....KVD did come back and said that you can catch really quality fish in the rain...but it is the crazy cold fronts and water temp that really effect them....He said the rain and cold will be the Pro Anglers battle to fight...another reporter ask Jerald Swendel what is the best weapon to win the battle with the cold rain and win....Gerald stated...Jack Daniels...:woo: ...But BASS want allow that so we have to buy these 600 dollor Gortex Rain and Warm Suits.....They help alot but they are no where near as fun as the JD...

Kevin VanDamn is on the move....he has 3 fish one weighing around the 6lb mark so that will put him way over the 10lb mark.....all leaders previosly stated are the same but none of them have caught another fish since around 9am or so......

Not to highjack Smooves thread...but here is a 9:30 update

Watching Dave Wolak creep up the leaderboard reminded us of a conversation that took place a night or two ago with Elite Series angler Russ Lane.
He didn't qualify for this year's Classic, but he did attend BASS' fancy-pants dinner for the Elites this week.
There, he had words of specific praise for Wolak: "In cold-weather tournaments on draw-down lakes," he said. "Dave Wolak is the man."
Maybe I should get Russ in here to help me figure out the rest of this.
Meanwhile, just got a call from ESPN cameraman Brian Mason. He's covering Kevin VanDam, who has boated three fish. One of those is "nice." Mason's estimation in the 6-pound range. With the other two, he's well over 10 pounds.
Yikes, VanDam is hot. Who would have thunk it?

Update...KVD..just landed another 3 to 4 lber and is in at 15lbs now.
Terry Scroggins has come outta know where to post in 5 fish at
around 15lbs..

One notable not on the board yet is Skeet Reese...current Angler of the year leader....

Have not heard about any of our South Carolina boys yet..I would think Davey Hite would have to be near the top somewhere....

Terry Scroogins...15.3lb
Kevin VanDamn...14.12
Alton Jones........14.3
Bobby Lane........13lbs
Dave Wolak........11.5

Damn no Carolina boys yet....!!!!!....and who the hell is Cliff Pace.....I dont think he was a 2 star was he...????LOL

Aron Martens just landed 2 back to back 4 lbers to take the lead at and unoffical 19lbs......I did not think we would see anything near 20lbs of bass today...Just shows you how good these guys really are....

smoovecock
02-22-2008, 12:12 PM
...Guy named Scott Rook is making a nice move...he is fishing in the Seneca River in a Creek call Conneross(sp?) Creek...just landed a couple of nice fish and is over the 10lb mark.....The way it is explained by ESPN is it is a very shallow creek but outta the wind and the water is no where near as muddy as all the other places in the upper lake is.....it is told that they are alot of local tourneys won in the very same creek that Scott is in right now....So it just may payoff again...........Looks like the man has been hangin out at the esso club and tiger tails and catching up on all the locals knowledge........I know..I know.....the last statement was an oximoron......LOL

Big Movers as of 10:50am....Martens now has 14.6....
Ike comes outta nowhere now with 13.12 and
and sitting in 7th place....
all the leader positions are pretty much the same.......Ike never entered my mind with this tourney and he is probably the best foul weather angler in the world...........Ill be out for a while but will update asap...

Never was really into fishing i have been a couple times but wasnt very good......No one is for a while...keep on keeping on.....It is one of the very few things you can do the rest of your life and end up being just as good as anyone around cause it is more brains and persistance than most sports...

Okay back from nappy time......

1..Rook at 21.10lbs....has moved from his little creek and fishing in the Seneca river not far from where his creek is...Seems like he has found a pattern and is gonna be tough to catch today...
2..Ike....19lbs...he likes this kinda fishing...he will be dangerous the rest of the day....
3..Terry Scroggins..18lbs...
4..KVD...17.8....kinda like Tiger Woods....he aint leading but you can here him coming...
5..Cliff Pace...the early leader of the day...still hangin tuff and is in good position to compete for the title...

Other intrest...Casey Ashely of South Carolina has put himself in contention with 4 fish weighing in at 11 1/2 lbs....One 4 or 5 lber and he is right there...

I hate the did this on hartwell...I wish they would have done it on Clarks Hill again...They have had 2 stops in a row there and I think they have another regular stop this year....If Santee Lakes had not been in such water pressure it was gonna be held there......I would have loved to had seen that.....Santee wont even get a regular stop for a least 3 years cause of restrictions the State DNR has put on the lakes about boating and fishing,.....maybe when they get it back to near full pool they will give us a gift and let us have a Classic there....

As of 3pm....

Charley Hartley just moved into 3rd with a 6 lber..

Ike landed a 4lb bass that put him just ounces away from leader Rook...

The anglers have less than an hour to fish and its then the mad dash to the dock and a long ride back the G-ville for the 4:30 weigh in at the Bi-Lo Center....
