TWO IOWA PLAYERS SUSPENDED AFTER DRUG ARRESTS
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz indefinitely suspended two players today after they became the 12th and 13th Hawkeyes arrested in the past year.
The players, wide receiver James Cleveland and backup quarterback Arvell Nelson, were arrested early Saturday in the dorm room they share. Cleveland, Iowa's leading receiver last year, is facing felony charges after police found ocycodone and carisoprodol pills for which no label or prescription were found.
Nelson was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession after police said they saw marijuana in plain view on his desk.
In announcing the suspension, Ferentz said, "I was very disappointed to learn the news of the most recent incident involving two of our players. It's especially disheartening since we made it such a major point of emphasis with our players since the end of last season."
