LOL Lucas... Yeah, he is 6' 9", but i don't think he is in your face enough to be a great player... Watch out for alex cobb playing attack for the generals though, he is good.

Played last year in FL, I'm up here at school now, but was stupid enough to choose being a basketball manager over playing lax. My high school this year sucks, and I really don't know too much about SC lax, but I LOVE the sport

I believe that this year is the first year that it is actually a varsity sport, but for the past five or six years it has been played as a club sport throughout the state.

How is the Lax scene down there? Curious because I live between Hopkins, Loyola, Towson, UMBC, and UMD all have good teams. This time of year, LAX gets televised about as often as any other sport. But I remember when I was at USC for school, it was a club sport, and I had friends who played on Clemson's team.
My high school team always competed for the state championship. Our lax team was better than football, which was good too. But am curious as to the popularity of lacrosse in the south.
It is the "unofficial" state sport. The official is jousting for any of you who want to be a hit at your next party.

The state of lacrosse in south carolina is of course no were near that of Maryland. The sport is growing though. Greenville High has won the state championship the past two years and has played in the championship game every year they have played.

My roommate is from Baltimore and plays on the team. He played for McDonough, and they won the national championship like 4 years ago

Lax is the official team state sport up in MD...jousting is still the official state sport because some state senator had a great grandfather who wone some jousting tournament and he refused to give it up. So like politicians.
It's been around since '98 or '99 at the high school level with a program down in Hilton Head and one at Heathwood (private school in Cola). (The first program in SC was here at USC, which started up in '73) From there it spread a little bit, experienced some explosive growth in the upstate (6 teams in a year). It's been recognized as varsity or club at various schools depending on their athletic department. The real holy grail is being taken in and recognized by the SCHL. They'll be discussing it this year informally so probably nothing will happen. The idiots are actually talking about making it a winter sport, whereas if they just took their heads out of their collective azzes and made soccer a fall sport (where it is practically everywhere else including college) there wouldn't be a problem. Girls lacrosse at the high school level has grown along with men's for the most part as well, although I don't know as much about them.
So when and where are the playoffs? When and where is the championship?

they did the seedings really weird. instead of going by the actual state rankings, the based in on the divisions too. i think these are the correct seedings...
http://www.sclacrosse.com/2008SCLLBoysSeeding.pdf
i think ac flora should have gotten a higher seed, but if that's the way they wanted to make it, then that's ok. we play blythewood again.

Greenville won tonight against Camden Military Academy 15-3 i think. We play Hillcrest on friday at hillcrest. They came to our game tonight and tried to tape our game tonight (against rules of course) but the refs made him pack up the camera. After a soft schedule Hillcrest thinks they have our number even though they lost 12-3 earlier in the season...

WEAK SCHEDULE. They played both greenville and riverside once while playing mauldin eastside and other schools twice. Their marque win was against riverside which gave them the region. Its the right seeding but it is because of a week schedule

Yeah spartanburg is picking it up and i actually heard talk of dorman but i dont know the depth to that. Both of those schools are so big that they will be able to compete with the athleticism flowing through the hallways.

Greenville High won the state championship after upsetting two number one seeds in Heathwood Hall and Wando. Heck of a game to those teams. State championship three years in a row, and we have nine of ten starters returning for next season.
