At a recent concert in Glasgow, Scotland, the lead singer of the band U2,

Bono, asked the audience for total quiet.

Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands once every few
seconds.

While having everyone's complete attention, he said into the microphone, "Every
time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."

A voice with a broad Scottish accent from the front of the crowd pierced the
quiet:

"Well, foockin stop doin' it then, ya evil basturd!"

Born: May 10, 1960 Bono was inspired to get involved in charity work after seeing The Secret Policeman’s Ball (http://www.looktothestars.org/news/126-return-of-the-secret-policemans-ball) in 1979. In 1986 he joined Amnesty International’s (http://www.looktothestars.org/charity/19-amnesty-international) Conspiracy Of Hope tour alongside Sting (http://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/212-sting), who was one of the Secret Policeman’s Ball performers seen by Bono. He also got involved in the Band Aid and Live Aid projects which were organized by Bob Geldof (http://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/24-bob-geldof) – another Secret Policeman’s Ball performer, and later helped Geldof organise the 2005 Live 8 (http://www.looktothestars.org/charity/10-live-8) project.
Bono has been a leader in the fight against poverty, and has helped to create the ONE Campaign (http://www.looktothestars.org/charity/3-one-campaign), DATA (http://www.looktothestars.org/charity/194-data), (RED) (http://www.looktothestars.org/charity/135-red) and EDUN, a clothing company which is striving to stimulate trade with poverty stricken countries.
He was on Forbes’ Generous Celebrity List for his work with Debt AIDS Trade Africa (DATA (http://www.looktothestars.org/charity/194-data)) against the spread of AIDS and for debt relief in Africa, participation in fundraising concerts like Live 8 (http://www.looktothestars.org/charity/10-live-8), and his donation of $50,000 to One in Four Ireland, a charity that helps survivors of sexual abuse.
Bono has received 3 nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize, and was knighted in 2007.
Bono met with President Sarkozy of France early in 2008, to discuss issues brought to light by DATA.
“We had a feisty factual meeting about effective aid, French aid and the risks to EU credibility of broken promises to the world’s poor,” said Bono after the meeting. “The President knows the details and moves fast.
“Within the meeting the President not only promised to restore 20 million Euros cut from the Global Fund to fight AIDS TB and malaria, he also said he would send through a plan to restore promised French aid trajectories in the next few weeks.
“The President admitted it would be very very hard, but France would keep her word.”

Ok, he's not a douche..... he's a C*NT! I think he needs to keep his mouth shut unless he is singing his outdated music!

As for tolerance goes.... I think an old favorite quote of mine says it best.

"Tolerance is the virtue of a man without convictions."

THAT is what I think about Bono. If you don't like it, don't read it.

If you were to honestly analyze the true reasons why anyone does anything, 99% of the time its for selfish reasons. Whether it be to fulfill some inner desire (this would still be selfish, because you're responding to your own urge, first) or any other selfish reason you can think of.
So, maybe he does do the stuff for attention...but at least he does it.

Theres nothing wrong with tolerance. That I can handle. Its when people start expecting approval from me that it crosses the line. As an American, I've got the right not to approve of anything I choose...but I can tolerate a lot of stuff.

The ironic thing is...when I choose to exercise my right to disapprove of anything I'd like...I get insults thrown at me. How hypocritical is that?
