I was approached by a Professor about research and studying abroad and if I was interested. in the Dept of Kinesiology & health Science (KNHS) there are no "ASU sanctioned" study abroads, but there are tons of extra-institutional programs.
It got me thinking, it'd be GREAT to spend a semester away from the good old Southeast.
( in the summer or spring of course, no sefl respecting Southerner would dare leave the SEC during War-Time)
I'd love to go but I'm not sure just yet...i'm kind of a home body...but just for kicks here's the list:
the options for Kinesiology are:
Scotland (U of Edinburgh)KNHS
Ireland (Limerick)KNHS
Britain(U of: Liverpool, Lancashire, London, Manchester)KNHS
Spain (U of: Salmanca, Seville)KNHS
Brazil-Intern Youth Soccer Director in poor communities
Australia-(Macquire Univ)KNHS
see why its hard?
Where you you go AND why please. Sometimes seeing things from anothers perspective helps alot!

Edinburgh. It's a lot of fun in the summer, especially in August whtih the festivals and the Tattoo, but your only source for tickets now will be eBay.

It'd be Ireland or Scotland for me. I love the accents, traditions, and I hear the scenery is absolutely gorgeous! (Plus who knows how to party better than the damned Irish?)
Introduce those cute Irish girls to some USC culture!

Australia because it's so unique, AND because it's extremely expensive to do the traditional 10 day-14 day vacation to a place like that.
Also, Australia has "nice" beaches 8-) :woo:.
I had the opportunity to go during high school (people to people), but couldn't afford it :(.

-Been to Australia recently, going back again next month. Pretty cool place.
-Been to South America, but not Brazil (though I did take two years of Portugeuse at USC!). A friend of mine has to work in Brazil a good bit and says it is a bit overrated and has a major crime problem. Sad to hear that, because I've always wanted to visit.
-Never been but hear Salamanca, Spain is awesome. That would be my pick.
Either way, I'd HIGHLY encourage you to go for it. I love The South more than most and can't wait to get back, but I wouldn't trade anything for having seen the world. Makes me love Dixie that much more (BTW...the southeast is a geographical area...The South is a PLACE).
-Too bad you can't come to Thailand. I could show you stuff that would blow your mind!

There is an Eastern History, and Religious studies semester abroad in Thailand, Phillipines, Okinawa
I'd love to go to Thailand, always wanted to go but my electives have all been used on soccer, fitness and finance...lol
I'm leanging more toward taking Australia out...b/c I want to be a soccer coach. and in Scotland, Brazil, England and Seville there are all MAJOR futbol programs(Celtic, BRAZIL, Manchester, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Spain)
and a part-time internship during the summer is offered with each club, and to work with one of those team and then come back to the US would be outstanding resume material!!

I'd go to Scotland or Ireland handsdown. My ancestry roots are in Scotland and Ireland and I've never had the chance to go. The upside to Scotland is that access to England is much easier. In Ireland you're options to cross the pond aren't as easy as just jumping on a train.
Pubs, English Soccer, Topography, etc. Handsdown!
By the way, I didn't take or get an opportunity like this when I was in school and feel like I missed out. Go if you can!

I think I'd have to vote Ireland or Scotland as well. I've not been personally, but know several friends who have and all brought back good reports. Edinburgh seems to be a widespread favorite.
Australia would be awesome, except it would be their winter while you were there, so I don't know how much draw the beaches would be during that time.
If the timing were reversed, I'd say Australia.

Australia, Scotland or Ireland. No language problems, well, maybe in Scotland, they can be hard to comprehend at times. If you speak spanish, Spain would be cool too.

you lucky bastard!
Personally, I'd be in Scotland as soon as they wanted. Never been, but dying to go...and love that kind of climate....plus it's where my blood is from.
I guess Australia would be second...mainly cause the women there love American men.
Austrailia or Brazil. Women......
Brazil has a TON of STDs tho
