IF PERRILLOUX IS GONE, LEE THE FAVORITE AT QB FOR LSU
As defending national champion LSU prepares to open spring practice without suspended quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, all indications are that Jarrett Lee is the favorite to win the starting job if Perrilloux doesn't return.
Coach Les Miles wouldn't offer any specifics about Perrilloux, who was suspended indefinitely for missing classes and team meetings.
"He could rejoin the team, but I don't know exactly what dates are significant there," Miles said of Perrilloux. "You know, middle of spring, after spring, that's not the issue. The issue is make sure we're doing the right things -- going to class and doing well in the classroom."
Perrilloux's absence leaves LSU with two scholarship quarterbacks, redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee and junior Andrew Hatch. For now, Miles is saying Lee and Hatch are even, but all indications we've heard are that by the time August rolls around, Lee is the more likely of the two to be in a position to start.
LSU fans, of course, are still hoping Perrilloux will get his act together. But it's tough to have much faith in a guy who's been suspended three times in the last 10 months.

Miles is such a flaky douche. This kid has been suspended three times in the last 10 months and miles is talking about he only may be out for half the spring.
How the favorites are favored... Poor mike davis is looking at a three game suspension for just one of the things this guy has done.

perrilloux will be playing in the fall. if you guys remember it took a national championship for lsu fans to not complain. they wanted him to go to michigan after the arkansas loss. lsu fans are very bad in that way

I'm not defending Miles or Perilloux, but in this particular situation the offenses that Perrilloux committed have to do with missing class and missing a team meeting to attend the funeral of his father. I think I'm right on that, which given the scenario I can understand why Miles might be a little more forgiving in this instance.

Probably team policy states that if you have an unexcused absence, regardless of why, you're a due a suspension. My understanding was that he didn't follow the proper channels to notify Miles or whoever he's supose to notify before he took off.

This is all a bunch of BS offseason fodder. He won't miss a snap come Fall. I do expect Lee to get playing time, however, because Miles likes the change-of-pace approach at qb.
