Kropp admitted to police he put a few of his facial hairs on the steak, saying he was angry the customer sent the other steak back and thought he was "just trying to get free stuff," according to the complaint.

According to the complaint, a second kitchen worker told police Kropp put a slit in the steak and pushed something inside, then stated, "These are my pubes," referring to pubic hair.

Travis Doster, a spokesman for the Texas Roadhouse chain of 288 restaurants in 44 states, said Thursday night that Kropp and the other worker were both terminated.

"Food safety is our number one priority and we will not allow anyone to compromise that," Doster said. "As a company, we're not only shocked, we're angry that someone would pull such a reckless stunt as putting facial hair in a steak."

He said the West Bend restaurant has an excellent inspection record. "I just feel for the staff because they really work hard, and one silly stupid stunt impacts everybody," he said.

I've never worked in food service, but I have worked in customer service, and one thing I hated more than anything were whiny people. With that said, I also made a commitment to make people happly no matter what, that's just the person I am. I know that some people aren't like that, which is why I've only EVER sent one food item back. I had a thitck steak at Longhorn's that I'd asked to be cooked "medium-well." Apparently it was a tad undercooked, so I asked the waiter just to throw it back on a minute or two. They did and it was awesome.

Hope I didn't get any pubes though :D

I have a culinary degree and have worked at several places grilling steaks and it is rarely the person cooking the steaks fault. Yeah when you get busy and have 30+ steaks on the grill stuff happens... most the time it has to do with the customer not knowing the true definition of the temperatures.

I think that was my mistake when I ordered mine. I made sure to tell the waiter it was my fault, though. No pubes for me!

I never send anything back at any restaurant because nothing that is wrong with my food is worth gambling on what could be MADE wrong with my food. I like medium rare steak as well but I'd eat it BURNT before I'd send it back.

It would have to be terrible for me to send it back. I understand how bad some customers are and continually see people complaining over stupid and little things. That being said, I'm glad the guy is getting in trouble over the what he did. Maybe it will keep some other workers from doing a lot worse, which you know does happen.

The customer didn't whine. The manager pushed it on him.

oh, trust me, every time, someone who, through ignorance, dont read the entire menu, and all that comes on the entree, bitches and complains and has it sent back, you want to either cut them, cuss them, or poison them. lol... and when you dont know what type of day that server is having, you can really mess yourself up... personally, no matter, how rude the customer is, I could NEVER spit in there food, or try to cause harm to them through food... thats not me... but you really wanna watch how you treat your server, cause getting paid hourly $2.13/hr, and being stiffed on tips, dont make it easier for you, if you too are rude to me and my kind... just lettin ya know.

I worked food service for a few years and I find it funny that this happened. This reminded me of the movie Waiting a lot. While sometimes customers are very rational about their arguments about what is wrong with their food, a lot of time the people just argue to argue and for some reason when something isnt precisely right there is a HUGE issue with what is wrong and everyone in the resturaunt gets screamed at...it sucks

Rare - Cool red center
Med Rare - Warm red center
Medium - pink
Medium well - gray, maybe slightly pink
Well done ("well done", what an oxymoron, lol)- Deep fried, speared with a white hot sharpening steel right through the center, beaten with a meat mallet, and lovingly served with a side of ketchup [sarcasm]...

...these are general temperature guidelines for steaks in most places, as a chef, some of the most trouble I've had with customers over the years has been over a well done steak, but never would I do anything malicious to it, even some places I've worked we've had diclaimers, not responsible for well done steaks, in other words, if you want me to destroy a perfectly good dry-aged Certified Black Angus Beef filet at $16 a pound, don't complain if it tastes like a burnt shoe, cooking a steak a little more is NEVER a problem, but you can't uncook it...

...the customer is always right, even when they're wrong...
