Anyone have a video of the inning when Smoak hit the homerun, Crips was hit, then scored? I've read that both looked at the pitcher after doing this and would love to see it...reminds me of a certain bat toss out in Omaha after a homerun. :woo:
Thanks:clap:

Thanks.
From that, certainly doesn't look like much of a wait at home plate, or a bat flip, or a very slow trot. I don't see anything to get the clemron pitcher's knickers in a wad, except that he got taken suborbital.
Plunking Crisp the next batter was bush league.
Thanks.

I heard Jack's comments... that is about as close as he ever will give Carolina a positive comment...
Even he knows Clemson has nothing for Carolina..
When Carolina can leave that many men on base... have a couple of base running blunders... an untimely error... and Carolina still wins 5-1.... Jack knows he is playing 2nd fiddle in the Palmetto State

I just rewatched the entire sequence of pitches. Top of the 9th starts at about the 2:20 mark of the game.
Matt Vaughn, the Clemson closer is brought in to pitch to the Gamecocks in the 9th. It is not a save situation but the Tigers want to hold the Cocks and not allow any more runs to score.
Matt Vaughn on the season prior to pitching in this game: 3 appearances; 0-0 record; 4.5 ERA; OBA .313; 4 innings pitched; allowed 5 hits; allowed 2 runs, both earned; 6 K; 0 walks.
3-4-5 batters (Darnell, Smoak, Crisp) up for the Gamecocks. Darnell struck out on four pitches. He was served most if not all sliders and curves. Two called strikes and a strike out swinging.
Smoak is then up with no one on and one out. The second pitch to Smoak looked like it was supposed to be a fast ball inside corner at the knees. Vaughn jerked the pitch and the ball got away from him, almost hitting Smoak near the knees. The catcher's target was inside at the knees. Can't say if the pitch was supposed to be in the strike zone or was supposed to move Smoak back so Vaughn could use the outside corner. Anyway, Smoak did immediately stare Vaughn down which drew some crowd noise. Next pitch, I think third pitch of the at bat, was a slider down and in. This one did stay in the strike zone for a very brief time before going the opposite direction for a very long time.
After crushing Vaugn's slider, Smoak did watch the ball. Who wouldn't? It was a heckova home run. Songs should be sung of this epic event against the hated Tigers. Smoak should be immortalized with a statue placed in the Horseshoe.
He (Smoak) was moving towards first and broke into a trot on his second or so step and was generally head down all of the way around. Looked pretty professional to me. The Clemson catcher didn't indicate anything inappropriate by Smoak immediately after the hit.
The call to Chrisp appeared to be a down and in slider or fastball. Looking at the replay several times, it looks to me like Chrisp was plucked. Can't say for sure because I was not at the game but it appeared that Vaughn threw that pitch right where he wanted to. Crisp did stare at Vaughn and did a nice little bat flip back towards the Gamecock dugout.
It looks like the whole sequence unnerved the Tigers. If there is anything more to it, watch for indications in the next contest.

The whiners on the tigernet say Crisp made a gesture behind the catcher's back after he scored. Was the alleged gesture on video?

The whiners on the tigernet say Crisp made a gesture behind the catcher's back after he scored. Was the alleged gesture on video?
When Crisp was hit by the pitch, he flipped the bat back towards the Gamecock dugout and appeared to say something to Vaughn, the pitcher. The Clemson catcher then mouthed back to Crisp and followed Crisp for a couple of steps towards first. Crisp did not look back.
When Crisp scored, he stopped on home plate and looked towards the back of the catcher, who was standing a few feet in front of the plate. Crisp appeared to say something towards the catcher or even perhaps the pitcher, because both were in front of him. The catcher did not turn towards Crisp. Crisp made no motion with either hand, both down at his sides. He appeared to say something towards the back of the catcher and immediately turned towards his dugout. Whatever he said couldn't have been too bad because the plate umpire was standing right there and did not react.
Not much in the video to get excited about. It worked in the Gamecocks favor, whatever was said or done.

Ok - audio sux - I know - but here's 3:47 of Smoak batting thru Crisp arriving back at the dugout.
You'll see that Crisp doesn't motion anything, but does seem to say something or look back on the field, Justin gives more of a WTF?! look than a FU! look. The throw at Justin looks like he lost the handle - the one on Crisp looks like it was exactly where he wanted it.

I thought the worst of it all was the pitch high and tight to the Gamecock batter after Crisp scored. Was it Enders? That last inside pitch by Vaughn seemed very dangerous, not like the normal plunkings toward/on the hips of Smoak and Crisp. It was a head shot.

Ok Vaughan was backing up the catcher at Home. I think Crisp just turned his back to Vaughan as he stepped on home to avoid causing a possible confrontation and in a way to kinda show him up. Saying, you guys walk behind us like a %$@# should.

Now - relieve someone who has loaded the bases with one out (or no outs!) and pitch your way out of it - it's not so ....Hollywood to me. That's doing something...
I didn't see Coop strut once - 'tho I did notice he walked off a couple of times...and Coop got out of inning the same as Mitchell.

I was really impressed with Cooper last year and on Sunday. He doesn't seem to get rattled. Goes about his business and moves on. He had good stuff Sunday too- he threw both his breaking pitches and his fast ball in any count for strikes.
