I thought they rotated the classes (A, AA, AAA, AAAA) each year between the schools. Like two classes at WB and two classes at CU, then flip'em the following year.
I know when RH went to the state title back in mid 90's, it was at CU then...the only time I've EVER been in their stadium.
Northwestern and Gaffney also played there back in the 90's as well.
I heard about this on the radio the other day. I didn't think it was actually going to happen. From what I heard, apparently Tammy complained that since the Championship was being played at WB, we had a leg up on recruiting. That was basically his argument (whine, bitch, whatever you want to call it).
The guys on the radio were trashing him, saying it makes no sense...if you look at every other state, the championship game is played in the most convenient location regardless of college. For example, Florida doesn't play their game in Tallahassee, because it wouldn't make sense. Just like it doesn't make sense to make a team from summerville travel to Clemson. Meet in the middle. But Tammy is a bitch.

It's supposed to be done so that high school kids will get to see more instate options besides USC. If that were the case, then the SCHS championship should be played at every college stadium in the state through one decade.

This F'N sucks , Even if i wasn't a Carolina Fan, 1. Clemson is not the Capital or in the middle of the State, Columbia is 2. Parking is way better at WB the Parking sucks at Clemson. 3. There is No nice Hotels or places to Eat in Clemson, Columbia has plenty of both. 4. Theres Nothing Else to do in Clemson if you gonna make a weekend of it, Columbia has shopping, Vista the Zoo just to name a few. They tried this before and attendance was awful.

How much do you think attendance will fall off. I know that parents will still go but the casual fans and friends of players most likely won't be making trips. Plus look at the demographics around Columbia compared to pickens country. Most people don't have passports to go to that country.
Throw in the added cost of fuel and it will be prohibitive even for some families.

I think that the state championship should be held in the state capital. Especially when the capital is located in the center of the state. I can understand the arguement about a recruiting advantage but seeing as how cowtech always wins out instate I do find it to be very convincing. My main problem is that it is unfair to lower-state fans. The lower-state probably won't have as many fans attend because of gas, distance, and cost which could serve as an advantage to the upper-state.

It will cost the students, parents, schools, districts, and ultimately- the SCHSL, more money.
Brilliant move by the General Assembly...especially in a period of skyrocketing gas prices! Not to mention the logistical nightmare of having students/fans from all over the state converge on a town with little-to-no infrastructure to handle the influx.

POST 800!
In Georgia, it's held at the Georgia Dome. I have never heard of UGA complaining that the location gives Ga. State or Tech an unfair recruiting advantage. Anyway, it should be held in the most convenient location in the state. And, btw, why is Tammy complaining about recruting? Didn't they just beat us out according to many recruiting sites?
AND, one last thing? WHY THE $#%@ ARE MY TAX DOLLARS GOING TOWARDS A DEBATE ON WHERE THE STATE CAHMPIONSHIP GAME IS BEING PLAYED?
Ok...Carnac settle down now.

It's been at Williams Brice since 1997. I myself thinks it should stay here and no its not because i live here in Columbia, i mean it just makes sense to have it in the capital city of south carolina. Tammy really think its going to help with recruiting, he is so full of crap. I don't remember ever a time it helping with recruiting while here in columbia. CRY BABY CRY!!!!

Bingo, combined with the with the dude after you said.
I propose a new Man Law that trumps all other laws: Only Cockytalk members are allowed to run for and be elected to governmental positions in the state of South Carolina.
I hereby declare Mecklenburg Cock the Governor of that shitty state to the north.

What the legislation and Bowden fail to see is that this isn’t a Carolina & Clemson issue. This is a High school issue. And what is best for the high schools in SC is to have the State Championship game in the middle of State. I mean honestly, it almost makes too much sense.
O and Bowden said he wanted it moved because of the unfair recruiting advantage. Well SC has never used it as a recruiting tool.... but believe me... Bowden is gonna turn this thing into a Circus up there in Clemson.

Carnac wonder why no mention is made that the state soccer championship is held at Stone Stadium and no tater-slator (Carnac word for legislator that is Clemson fan) has mentioned the recruiting imbalance with soccer.

Here is my two cents...how many people actually attend the games? If Tommy feels so strongly that it is unfair for it to be at USC, then as a Christian man (golden rule) he should not want it at Clemson either....why not find a smaller university that could accomodate the games and not have it on one of the two large campuses. I have no idea where to have it, but at least here in Tennessee the games are at MTSU and they never come close to selling them out.

I think only the upstate games will be played there, but riddle me this: Why would you spend 2 hours in traffic to watch a 2 hour game? That whole area up there is crazy and it's like they almost do it on purpose. At least here you can get to the games in 30 minutes on a bad day.

it is going to cost so much more to have it there ...hell some of the small schools might not be able to afford it...

This is all due to Tammy being a spoiled baby and acting like a 2 year old. Makes a lot of sense to send Summerville and Beaufort teams on 5 hour one way trips to Clempson.......when gas is going to cost $4 a gallon.......attendance will be down because a day trip to Clemson is impossible, while day trips to Columbia are possible from anywhere in the state.
And Tammy is saying that having the title games in Columbia helps OUR recruiting........well they have won 8 out of 10, what else do they want? What a bunch of spoiled, selfish babies we have running Clemson University and representing the Upstate in the state legislature.

Well my Dad played in the state championship game in '85 and the Upperstate Championship was played at Death Valley, while the State Championship was held at Williams-Brice. If Tammy wants a game there, then they should do this. It's a lot easier to have an Upperstate Championship game in Death Valley where everyone is within a reasonable distance than to have teams in the lowcountry have to travel all the way up to cowtown.

The upper and lower state championship games should be played at the higher seeded teams field. The state chamionship should be held at the state capital.

for regular gas. it cost aprx 410 dollars to fill one of those big busses up. So a football team needs 2 or 3 busses and it would take at least two tanks for a team on the coast could reach around 2000-2500 dollars on gas. thats crazy. is clemson gonna use some of that 80,000,000 to re-emburse the schools??

Here is the truth we carolina charge the hsl 50 grand to use the stadium in turn we give them 40 grand to offset that so they must make up 10 grand on the game via tickets and other means.Well this year we did not offer that and clemsux offered a better package we carolina acted like we had no desire for the game.Peeler and the rep from the redneck rivera(anderson) had very little to do with this.Thank Mr. TCU et al

Honestly im pretty sure that it is a hassle for the University to do the High school state champs because of all the effort and other things hthat have to be done. But im pretty sure with gas prices the way they are now, this clemson bull shit wont last long
