Some of you may have seen it ... some may not have ... but CockyTalk is closing in on it's 1 MILLIONTH post ... for this occasion ... i think it'd be fitting for everyone to post something that the site has helped them with ... not to work less ... or stuff like that (although i'm the king of goofing off at work and being blocked from the site) ... but genuine things that without CockyTalk you may not know ... or might not have been able to do

For a while there, cockytalk helped expose me to a wider-array of intelligent political discussion that otherwise, I would not find as accessible.
Most work places do not allow political discussion, and most people just dont know enough to carry on a conversation about it.

We got people from Singapore, and any place in the US you can think of...Kinda reminds me of Toby Keiths song "I love this bar" becuase we got every kind of person from every place around on here with one thing in common....GO GAMECOCKS!!!! Great people, great conversation, and even civil arguement with some taters who arent all that bad....i think! GO COCKYTALK AND GO COCKS!!!

Cockytalk has been huge for me. It is one of the first places I check when I get on. Everyone keeps everyone posted on anything Gamecocks. We always seem to get the breaking news as soon as it comes out and we have fun. It's been a great ride. And as fun as it was when it was a small group of us led by Cack, CH, Khosk, Spurticus, MEGA, Mn'7 its a lot of fun now too.

Plus Cockytalk helped me realize that smoking hot women do actually post on message boards on the internet.

The ability to watch so many archived videos from games, and compilation videos that some of you make, and also its great having a central place to get all gamecock news and articles right away instead of having to check 4 different news papers online, and 5 different USC sites. It serves as a great filter that way.

Oh and ability to keep up with scores during work.

Well I haven't even gave it a thought but now that you mention it, it does favor clemson purple but I can't help that one of their colors is purple. Plus that's the color that looks closer to their uniforms. Sorry it reminds you of clemson but it reminds me how proud I am of my daughter, not freakin' clemson.

After I started visiting and posting on CockyTalk:
1. I can speak Sanskrit
2. I can divide by zero
3. I can delete the "Recycle Bin" on my PC's desktop
4. I understand what women are thinking all the time
5. I can understand what Michael Stipe is saying on EVERY REM song

There are several things that I still cannot do, such as:
1. Understand why any rational human being would pull for Clemson
2. See anything redeeming about American Idol
3. Figure out why dogs will eat cat food, but cats won't eat dog food.
4. Understand why any would eat tomato-based barbeque

...so I guess I will have to keep visiting and posting.

Shows just how adverse we are in opinions though we call ourselves family/nation. Yep! This site has shown me the good in people as well the ugly..That should be a movie one day. The Good The Bad and Ugly. While we are our own worst fans. We claim to be the best in the country. I have enjoyed this site, even to the point to get some "raged up" . This is one thing we all share .............We are passionate about our Gamecocks!!
Whether we win or lose. We have been drug through the mud, laughed at by competitor fan bases, heart breaking news of players/situations gone to pot. In the end we still stand behind our University. USC! USC!! We all have in commen the desire to win a national championship. So I thank those who created this site and for allowing us to at a level converse about our feelings and hopes. Sadly we do get carried away sometimes and it shouldn't get or taken personally. Maybe things will get turned around on the field/gridiron/court time will tell..GO Cocks!! Meeting Frank McGuire even though he wasn't in the best of health. I was in Health South for rehab from a motorcycle accident and I believe he was in there for the effects of a stroke. He had a big Gamecock flage hanging in his room and he was trying to hook me up with the nurses every day. Even he did not have that much pull, especially given the shape I was in at the time.
One great game memory I have is being at Clemson when they did the lateral across the field on the kickoff. Can't believe it didn't go all the way though.

One of the best memories I have is being at the Outback Bowl when we beat Ohio State with the last minute field goal, even though we were up like by four tds or something. My dad and I were up kind of high in Raymond James, surrounded by SC fans and as we lined up for that field goal, it seemed as if time itself stood still. You could hear a pin drop in a lower level concession stand as we waited for the kick.

The ball was hiked, the kick went up and everyone in the stadium inhaled. From where we were (opposite end of the field), we couldn't tell if it was good or not. As the ball sailed thru, all eyes went to the refs, who stepped forward and threw their arms up!! It's GOOOOOODDDD!!!!! Holy crap, all I could see for the next 49 seconds was jumping garnet and black shirts, arms in the air, hats flying left and right, people hugging, cats and dogs living together. Absolute, beautiful chaos!! I'll never forget it.

My favorite would be watching Brewer run wild over Ohio State. I also had good memories watching Bennett run all over Clemson in Death Valley.
That first outback win was pretty cool, I was at that game...

BUT my BEST Gamecock moment had to be that first year we beat UGA under Lou holtz....
It was after the horendous 0-11 year, the fans were starved for any kind of success and UGA came to town with the Heisman hopeful QB and all the hype surounding them. I was working for ESPN during that game, like holding wires or something, so as it turned out I got be right down on the sidelines with our team!!! I remember walking to the stadium and hearing all the UGA fans talking smack over bull horns, from raised platforms, a bunch were there in there winnebegos... Funny thing was ALL of them were GONE after the game?? I was sitting right behind the bench watching Charlie draw up plays and talk to the team, after like the third INT I was stanging right in front of where the D was running off the field and I just rememebr jumping up and down screaming "that right!!! He can't pass on you!!!" Or something... got some funny looks from the players... they were looking at me like "umm he works for ESPN???" I was not the least bit professional about it... I had to go to the game early to work and left late, by the time I got back to my people's tailgate at Olympia school, a HUGE section of the goal post had made its way over to us and people were sawing pieces off.... The city was pretty much a riot zone for a couple hours, there were reports on the radio of huge groups of people walking the whole way down to 5 pts with sections of goal posts and hack saws... total, gleeful madness!! Best sports moment of my life!! I tell you folks, these new restrictions about running onto the field are total BS, we need to allow fans to get excited and act stupid sometimes... I don't care if it does cost money to replace goal posts!!

Sitting in the blazing sun playing MSU in 2000, Petty goes down , Kimrey comes into the game with pressure after telling Lou Holtz , "coach I can throw the fade" , he did just that to Jamel Kelly and he took it to the house for 6 points !

I remember as a kid going dow and getting Steve Taneyhill's autograph and really becoming hooked on Carolina football because of the excitement he brought to the game.
Next best memory was when the rumors of Steve Spurrier coming to Carolina. When he was introduced at that first press conference as our new Head Coach, I remember thinking to myself "It is finally going to happen. We have arrived."

It makes me feel kinda bad for the young Gamecocks on here who have not had a memory of our team that was quite as spectacular. Beating Tenn and Florida were great games since Spurs has been here but the 87 team beat Clemson down. The final should have been 38-7. The best memory I have was the New Mexico St game to beat the 0-21 streak. I had been dating my now fiancee for 2 years and she had never been to a Carolina football game. I finally convinced her it was nothing like going to a high school game. The best thing about the whole trip was walking through the concourse tunnel to our seats, as soon as we hit open air and she saw the inside of the stadium for the first time it was priceless. She's been a Gamecock ever since. It also helped that we got to watch the students tear the goalpost down and we got to go down on the field and get a small piece of the hedges

Thats so true at my age I have alot of wonderful memories, another is when we beat Clemson 13 9 , I was at that game as well and I always carried my headset so I could listen to Bob Fulton call the game even if I was there watching the game, I remember him saying , "Folks if you are listening to this game and driving PLEASE pull over and get off the road until this game is over " George Rogers ran his tail off that day !!

And even though this isn't really a Gamecock moment per say, one of the best things I will ever see in my life is driving up 77 and seeing the stadium in the distance for the first time of the football season. Anyone who makes the trek westbound from the low country knows what I mean. Seeing Williams-Brice standing off in the distance while everyone in the car has their Carolina stuff on and we have the marching band cd playing is a very special thing for myself and gives me goosebumps everytime. And it always will. Go Cocks!

I remember with "The Mullet" made Clemson his b****. I remember being wasted and talking some major smack to the UVA offensive line while they were stretching in the endzone only to have them stand up and all be over 6'5"; then later in the day yelling "You're my boy Troy" only to have him look back nod and then break off a 99 yarder.

My most memorable gamecock moment...haha

September 16th, 2002

When we played Temple at home, it was the very first game I have ever been to, I still have the ticket stub and everything...I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know any formations, no Gamecock Players names...nothing, I had a blast.

Nothing really special happened that game, but it was amazing for me, because that is when I tied the knot on becoming a Gamecock fan, just the rush and excitement I got there.
