Obtaining NCAA 09 Rosters for Free!

Greetings fellow Gamecock fans and NCAA gamers! As some of you may already know, http://freencaa09rosters.com is the place to go if you're interested in downloading full rosters (that means every team!) for the new NCAA college football game. Not only is the service free but I can personally attest that they are extremely accurate. The guys there really do their homework and are just as invested in 100% accuracy as we are. Why? B/c like us they're college football gamers who are looking to make the NCAA 09 experience as realistic as possible. Besides, isn't it much more cool to be playing against Florida and see "Tebow" on the jersey rather than just "No. 15"?

The cool factor and realism aside, there's another extremely important reason to become freencaa09rosters.com patrons. Several services out there also offer team rosters but for a fee. This may sound OK but it's potentially quite dangerous. The NCAA frowns upon businesses or individuals making money off its athletes. As a result, it's a fear of many in the NCAA gaming community that these rosters-for-pay sites will eventually attract the NCAA's attention. Are these sites in fact profiting from the names of college athletes? Maybe, maybe not. But why chance it? Do we really want to risk the possibility that the name-editing feature will be removed from the game altogether?

Obtaining your team rosters from freencaa09rosters.com is the perfect way to ensure that the above-mentioned feature stays "in the game" and that the NCAA keeps its nose out of our business. with the ea locker, fairdale or one of his associates will put the roster file on their xbl name, and you'll just need to know anyone's xbl name who has the roster file and you can download it from them via the ea locker.

the files will not be EA files...they will be user created roster files, just like we have always downloaded. only this time, EA has FINALLY done what should have been done a long time ago, and put a roster download section in their in-game menu. you will open up the "EA locker" and search for the user that you want the rosters from, download the file, and use the complete roster file in-game.....just like always.

roster download sites, like the one noted in the first post of this thread, are dead.

and that reminds me, somebody needs to PM hoskins and tell him that the ad he has running at the top of the icocky main page for roster files, is complete BULLSH!T. that guy charges for roster files. the ad needs to come down...it's not necessary to pay for roster files and i don't believe it's even technically legal for him to sell them (that may be the guy that has a pending lawsuit against him...i'm not sure. but one of the dudes that charges for roster files does).





oh, and BTW, fk's rosters will be up pretty quickly after the release...probably within the first few days. his gamertag is "FAIRDALE KINGS" - just search for roster files from him and that's it.

I don't care who you get the rosters from so long as you don't visit a pay site. As for the EA Locker feature, this is certainly a positive development that will make downloading rosters a breeze. But saying that rosters sites like freencaa09rosters.com are dead is not accurate. Pay-for-rosters sites may now be dead (hopefully!) but someone still has to do the research and all the work to post accurate and complete rosters. Accordingly, I posted the link to freencaa09rosters.com so people who are less familliar with the process would have somewhere to go (other than a rosters-for-pay site) to get their team rosters and to learn how the process works this year (i.e., EA Locker).

While it's true you can -- this year -- get your rosters from a buddy, let's not forget who your buddy got the rosters from. Plus, some people may not know anyone they can get rosters from. So sites like freencaa09rosters.com are very much alive and very much in demand even if EA Locker makes it seem otherwise. Furthermore, maybe it's worth your time to directly download your rosters from free roster sites (via their XBL or PSN accounts) to express your support for their efforts.

The bottom line though behind my creation of this thread is to spread the word that rosters-for-pay sites are, as someone posted earlier, "bullshit." So download your rosters from whoever or from wherever, just don't pay for them! My mission will be accomplished if no one from this board pays a cent for their rosters.

This year, NCAA Football 09 for the Xbox 360 & PS3 has a great new feature - the EA Locker. The EA Locker allows free and easy roster access via your gaming console, so long as you are connected online with it. The EA Locker allows users to download rosters from their friends or select community members. Conversely, it also allows gamers to upload their own created roster file they wish to share.
Getting rosters for NCAA Football has never been easier.

For the 360

If using EA Locker:
* Click on ONLINE
* Select EA LOCKER
* Search for: FAIRDALE KINGS

Basically you go into the Online tab, and click EA Locker. From there, you can browse the locker of your friends.

People can also enter in the gamertag/psn id for the person who they know has the file and then download it. So people do NOT have to be on each other's friends list.

For the PS3

* If using EA Locker:
- Click on ONLINE
- Select EA LOCKER
- Search for: ncaaStrategies
- Once the file is complete, it will be in the ncaaStrategies locker.

you should be able to download any rosters that are avaliable. If there is some kind of trouble with them, then just delete them and find another one.

i just want to make sure everyone knows that we need to make sure there is a stable roster file before we go downloading one just because it's there......and this kills me. i'm a bit of a roster whore. i pretty much wouldn't play the game if we couldn't have names.

Ok, so I've been following this whole roster thing and wanted to ask few questions to make sure I have it straight.

Up until this year I have bought all my sports games on the XBox 360, but this year I got the game on PS3. If I'm understanding it correctly, until EA releases a patch for the game I will be unable to do any sort of roster editing without screwing up the game in some sort of way? Like the poster above, I'm a "roster whore" as well.

Do the issues occure only if you download the rosters off of EA's servers? What if you manually do the rosters? What if you download the rosters off of a website and upload them from a flash drive?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

from what i understand, guys:


- someone is working on the rosters now (at least for the 360 - not sure about the ps3)

- there were major issues with pastapadre's rosters (again, on the 360) but he has since taken those down

- we should know by wednesday or thursday if there are any lingering issues and i would think that a stable roster file will have been completed somewhere close to those dates

- it's not just an online dynasty thing.

im with what diehard said in another thread, if need be i'll just wait for a stable file, i might indeed have the time but not the patience to attempt to do a roster myself. i might just do the gamecock roster so i can start a dynasty, but doing a whole conference or team schedule would cut into too much playing time.

ok, i think I have figure it out, first you have to sign up with easports online through the game. Once connected you go to download roster and you have to know a name to download from, that is where I am stuck at now, anyone know a name for ps3 to download rosters?

At this point, there are no completed rosters for the PS3 due to a nasty bug that affects the game when using edited rosters. This bug can cause certain teams to completely disappear from the game (FAU, FIU, and Western Kentucky for example), and it can also cause your game to freeze.

Latest info on the roster problem straight from EA..

From NCAA Football Producer Adam Thompson:
We have identified and fixed the bug causing the game to crash when editing rosters. This bug also causes teams to disappear and team ratings to change.
The patch is being tested tonight, and assuming all goes well it will be submitted tomorrow for certification. The expected release is in 5-10 days.
Until the patch, we recommend you cease editing rosters. Rosters that have been corrupted by the bug will not work after the patch. If you have a roster in progress and have not encountered any freezes or missing teams, it will work after the patch. There is a possibility a roster can be corrupt and not have surfaced any problems yet. This is why we recommend that you stop or back up your work among multiple save files.
We are also fixing the bug where the depth chart gets reordered after editing a player with this patch.
These are the ONLY fixes in this patch. We are planning on a 2nd patch with many fixes, but we had to get this one out the door.
We appreciate everyone’s patience on this matter.

I downloaded roster from DT at EAROSTER COM (with the space) They work fine for me (360). pasrapadres had some hyphens and characters that weren't recognized by the game so it caused some problems according to another site.

What system? for 360 just go to the EA locker option and at the top of the list put in EAROSTERS COM with the space and you should get them in no time.

You can order a memory card through someone or use a USB port I believe. To download at home though right now you would have to be connected to the computer.

No. Do not pay for anything. Go to EALocker from the menu in the game. Type in a gamertag that has the roster, and when it shows his name on the screen, select download roster (BrinkleyBulldozer has a name that works). After that, you're set; just don't edit the roster past that point.

You will have to go in and delete your old roster file that the game sets up for you and load the roster you downloaded.

I will upload the roster I got from DT tonight. I have change a few things for the gamecocks mainly equipment and some #'s and postions from memory. Should be up before 9. Gamertag Derrell SC with the space.

Sorry it was almost 11 before I got on to up load my roster.

I have not had any problems with the issues as far as locking up or anything like that even after I downloaded the rosters.

As far as some of the other problems people are haveing (ie not getting pressure on QB with DL) I have not had those problems at all.

Go to your file managment under the main menu and go to rosters I think "Y" deletes it.

thanks. i figured it out how to use it the other night. i didn't see anywhere i could actually delete the other file. i believe the only roster file it shows is yours (i named it derrell sc roster). i appears to be working fine now though. i just had to start my dynasty over and can't load any file that has the old (number) roster or i have to restart the game from the console.
